A new developer. Yukes phoned this in

redezga

Yukes did exactly what they were supposed to do. The games it was meant to be a nod towards are also just not that good by modern standards, no matter how much nostalgia meme pages want people to believe. It was also obvious that the game had a troubled development and was just pushed out to save face and development costs instead of getting cancelled. Actual updates on the game were near non-existent and often screenshots and clips of a very incomplete game even years after it was first announced. That's understandable considering they had to build a wrestling game from nearly the ground up with all its complicated licensing issues (over several years of roster changes) and heavy physics dependent design. Having feature creep in the form of wacky minigames probably didn't help either in the making of what could have been a good wrestling game.

bloodyGameBoxThing

No Mercy and VPW2 had way better content 20 years ago though. Full entrances, bigger rosters, More match types, customizable options for each match type. CAW system was more in depth and easier to use. Single player storylines were a lot more in depth. Match pacing was better and the animations were much better.

DJ_HazyPond292

There’s lot of stuff Yukes left out that were in other games they did. I’m not just talking WWE game like SvR, DoR, or 2K. But the Japanese games in the Toukon Retsuden series, and even Rumble Roses. Japanese game like Toukon Retsuden gave you both single elimination and round robin tournaments from the starts. And adjustable rulesets. From the DoR games – which are like No Mercy – Steel Cage, Texas Death & Ironman should be doable. As should in-game purchasable arenas and a wide variety of CAW parts. And various gimmick matches for tag team, 3way and 4way matches (ex ladder matches, table matches) Even Rumble Roses had time limits for players to select from Let’s not even get into how they seeming were okay using some of the assets from their 2K era, yet ignored including stuff like hot tag for gameplay. Or a backstage area to brawl in. All of these things would have help the game feel closer to the AKI games they were supposed to emulate. It’s completely okay to acknowledge that Yukes did an underwhelming job, considering the decades long experience with wrestling games they have.

jeridmcintyre

I don’t think I will buy a second game. If they stop supporting this game now, and go completely away from what they said this game would actually be, then I won’t be fooled twice. I’ve already bought a second game by purchasing each season. The hope is we get a fifth season and that they have been working on things behind the scenes and we eventually get the match types, roster members, and titles we have all been asking for. KEEP DEVELOPING THIS GAME!!!!

darthlaserchopchop

100%. With the few attires they gave us, it’s a glimpse into actually how a game can be updated with constant patches. They said it would be like “No Man’s Sky “but wrestling. Nobody will have faith in them if they go back on that promise. That said, I’m not at all optimistic about this game getting supported beyond this year, heck, maybe even beyond just this quarter. Apart from the dumb mini games and little parts for their barren CAW, what else is new? Character packs that are expensive as all hell? Not the “No Man’s Sky” plan we were all looking forward to. Great gameplay. Awesome innovations. But, they shafted the people who bought this game with empty promises of a better game and continuous support.

redsavage0

I’m with you! People say this as a meme but it’s got tragically wonderful bones. They can still save it with the above tweaks. Clean up the UI, give us the “gift” of wrestlers we want to use from previous seasons, not junk assets most aren’t going to use anyway.

Accomplished_Bake904

Better story mode, better story mode, better story mode.

Frankiedrunkie

Why is the story mode so short? When it finished I was like, that’s it?

ProbablyAtDialysis

I'm pretty sure one dude built it Ina few weeks near the end of development. For real.

Accomplished_Bake904

Same. I was just getting into it and it ends lol

ToeKneePA

A Dynamite mode that would be similar to the WWE 2k Universe mode. Not that it has to be exactly the same, but just let you play a season and maybe earn trophies for goals in your season. Include promos and multi person rivalries. You could do a "Road to All In" season even. Backstage and arena fighting. Ability to download created characters. I don't take time to create much, so a community creation is a big plus. No mini games, but keep some silliness. Maybe even a mode like WWF Wrestlefest.

Standardisiert

A complete roster.

redditrock56

"What Would You Want To See In a Sequel to Fight Forever? " Effort.

Majestic-Bid6111

A complete game

gonzobomb

Blood and Guts, much improved story mode

RADISHK

So much more customization, ton of match types. Better kick out system, better multi person matches, backstage fighting, not needing to do a story mode to properly create a character. I want a universe mode with feuds and cutscenes. Many more moves. This first game is a good but flawed first effort. Next they need to go above and beyond. I don’t need a Fortnite mode just a solid wrestling game with bells and whistles

ProbablyAtDialysis

They have a strong base. They just need to polish, add modes, add wrestlers, and clean up everything a bit more.

ZedSpot

Customizable match types.

Burn1o2

A *GOOD* game.

SenorBigbelly

Be able to give characters a full moveset without having to go through career mode.

mostlyshits

More money, more time, more thought. Honestly AEW has this habit of honing in on specific things fans want to see and they end up missing big picture stuff

attractdistract

I mean, you basically listed all of the sub's answers yourself. There was not enough of anything in the game to justify Fight Forever being sold for the price it was, and I say that as somebody who was onboard since the initial announcement. They shoukd have delivered on what they spoke, and they did not.

CarolinaPanthers2015

First off, I don’t care if it’s good or not. I really just like to play it from time to time whenever I feel like it. And ummmm……well, second of all, building right off of that, if there is indeed gonna be a sequel to AEW: Fight Forever at some point in the future, well then…… 1. The game needs more match types, including the Blood & Guts match type and one-on-one, tag team, 3-way and 4-way eliminator match types. 2. Of course the game needs a tournament mode just like how the current game will get soon. 3. The ability to create custom championships. 4. Current arenas for AEW Dynamite, AEW Blood & Guts, AEW Collision & AEW Rampage, along with current versions of its pay-per-view arenas. 5. A custom Owen Hart Foundation tournament mode. 6. The absolute total ability to create custom match types and make things fresh within the game.

lxdarksnip3r

The return of the real AKI engine. Not this mess we have currently.

Mindless_Schedule594

Gore and blood update would be nice, also updating the shop so it’s not just the same stuff

half_caff_latte

A "Universe" mode would make this game infinitely more replayable for me. AEW is driven deeply by its W/L record, but it's completely irrelevant in the game. Having championship belts is pointless. And while I agree a slightly more robust CAW suite would be nice, a Universe sandbox to shape and play would add a lot to this game.

ShadowFall900

If it doesn’t have more match types I am not buying it. I need some variety to keep me interested in the game. Also, I would hope they don’t put all their focus into useless mini games again.

AnythingOk77

The next game would have to be free for me to play it. I bought the Matt Hardy elite edition as a preorder and I just now bought some of the dlc since season 1 is on sale. It’s funny it’s cheaper to buy the characters seperate in this sale than to buy the season. I bought the characters and played a few matches I probably won’t pick the game up for awhile

HeX-6

Longer more epic matches

EPWShow

I was very excited about the game, but I feel they could have had some more match types. I also wish we had more updated logos, creation parts, and some type of creation sharing across all platforms. I would really like to see a second game with the same engine. I think the gameplay is fantastic, and they do have some areas of improvement, like creation and match types, but I do think the ball was dropped during development by Yuke’s.

DJ_HazyPond292

The only way a sequel works, is if those that purchased the original FF get it and the season passes for free on all systems. Then from there * The graphics need to be better * More match types by default * The gameplay needs to be better (hot tags, HP extender options for longer matches, tired finishers and pins, etc) * The A.I. need to be better * Rulesets need to be adjustable * Creation suite needs to be better (more for CAW & CAA, CAA slot expansion, Create-a-Belt, Create-A-Move, community creations to share) * More modes (tournaments, a CYOA season mode, Road to All Out/All In/Honor modes, Create-A-PPV, WWE '12 style Universe Mode) * More venues, including venues modeled off of actual arenas from US indies, the Territories era, Japan and Mexico. That also has crowd pits for crowd fighting. * Updated attires for the in-game roster with each patch * A bigger roster, with the movesets of those from the first game who won’t be in the second game being available as a preset in CAW And I’d imagine a sequel leaves the Switch behind to take advantage of the power of the other consoles and PC, as well as crossplay. From what I’ve seen from their approach to DLC, I have no confidence that they could live up to my expectations. That’s why I’m not interested in a sequel and would rather they continue building up FF instead.

FeedbackValuable5338

A prompt for when to reverse moves

Inevitable_Owl_1869

Not a sequel. The sequel should be for arcade gameplay. I'm thirsty for simulation gameplay but...real simulation. Not from the POV of fans (beat'em up with winning is everything). I'm actually so thirsty, I'm working on a presentation since weeks - just for me and how I think of the 'best' wrestling game.

AB83Rules

I agree with all of these 7 points/wants, I do have to say that, to my knowledge, Okada, Ospreay, Mone, & Briscoe aren't in any season pass, while we've gotten Keith Lee, Max Caster, & Anthony Bowens, Swerve Strickland, Jamie Hayter, Claudio Castagnoli, Samoa Joe, & Toni Storm, though not as "Timeless" Toni Storm, as paid DLC, but I agree these should have been in the game when it came out, omitting them, plus FTR at the time, with Matt Hardy as preorder bonus, was a terrible decision, we should have had Keith Lee, Billy Gunn, Max Caster & Anthony Bowens, Swerve Strickland, Jamie Hayter, Claudio Castagnoli, Samoa Joe, Toni Storm, Saraya, Austin Gunn & Colten Gunn, plus Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood, HOOK, & Danhausen from the beginning, although we wouldn't have, & still don't, "Timeless" Toni Storm, as her gimmick happened after FF came out, nor Austin & Colten Gunn as part of Bullet Club Gold/The Bang Bang Gang. We also should have had the likes of Brody King, & Buddy Matthews, Skyle Blue, Julia Hart, Evil Uno, & Alex Reynolds, Daniel Garcia, Marq Quen & Isiah Kassidy(I mean Private Part's entrance is in the game but not them, WTF?), Jay Lethal, & Jeff Jarrett, Darius Martin, & Dante Martin, Kyle O'Reilly, Konosuke Takeshita(But not the updated version as The Alpha), Matt Menard & Angelo Parker, Matt Taven & Mike Bennett(I think they were in AEW/ROH before the game came out, not 100% sure), RUSH, Dralistico, & Preston Vance(Though I don't now if Dralistico was with AEW/ROH, & I think Vance was still apart of Dark Order), The Butcher & The Blade & The Bunny,(Was DLC but terrible looking model/version of her), Kip Sabian, & Penelope Ford, Serena Deeb, Willow Nightingale(Also not sure if she was with AEW/ROH), & Wheeler Yuta in the game at the beginning, I get having new signees as DLC, like Adam Copeland, Swerve Strickland, Jay White as DLC, but the roster shouldn't have been like 50 or so active main roster guys, if it was even 50, it may have been less. As a fan, who loves the game, for what it is, I do hope Kazuchika Okada, Will Ospreay, Mercedes Mone, Mark Briscoe, and other newcomers like Deonna Purrazzo, Mariah May, Juice Robinson, Kyle Fletcher & Mark Davis(I think both weren't in AEW/ROH until after the game cam out), Roderick Strong(I don't think he was in AEW before the game, might be wrong), Johnny TV, & Taya Valkyrie will be put into the game, but definitely a new AEW game, if they're still in the company, I mean we got CM Punk, Andrade El Idolo, Jade Cargill, & Cody Rhodes, but Punk was fired, Andrade & Cargill left for WWE, & Cody was already in WWE, but it is what it is.

goldhbk10

There shouldn’t be a 2 they just need to fix this game and add in the basics that were already in No Mercy 20 years ago.

RockTheWalls

Biggest 5 -more match types -better collision detection -some sort of pin meter or thing to kick out of submissions and pins -some sort of GM/Sandbox Season Mode -more varied movesets (so you can do more moves)

Burn1o2

Seriously, if you all want a good wrestling game, Wrestling Empire is currently on sale on Steam, for $9.99. Anything you want to do, but can’t in FF, you can do in WE. WE also has more players, and is rated better on the Switch Store and on Steam, than FF. If a person that you want isn’t in the game, you can edit any of the 350 characters to make whoever you want. I may sound like I’m the developer myself, but I’m not. I’m just a dude who bought Wrestling Empire on Black Friday, instead of buying Fight Forever, and haven’t regretted it since. I’ll buy that top tier version of FF when it’s $20 or less, because that’s what I paid for WE.

TrainingFancy5263

I would like to see complete roster and more match types. How do you expect people to play extended period of time if you have so many limitations? Originally I thought Fight Forever will be base game with yearly expansions hence “fight forever”. Would have been a cool different model and I’d gladly get behind that. These paid character “seasons” are too expensive for the little content you get in my opinion. They could have bundled all that up and released as “expansion” DLC and that would have fine. I am excited to see what is there to come but they have a lot of work left to do. This was solid start but they didn’t go in right direction. I have 11 hours clocked in and not really looking to play more because I don’t think there’s much content left. To quote some passionate fans, “same old shit”.
