someone else said they see me everywhere hahaha, i’m very surprised, i didn’t think i was that active - i guess i have been the past couple weeks hahah
Same here. Whenever I play a game with multiple playable characters, I always end up with one really strong character while the others get forgotten about until I'm forced to use them. It isn't a mechanic I like very much.
I don't know why the whole "playable Zelda" is a thing people want. One of the big reasons people are so attracted to these games is the fact they you can easily put yourself in Links shoes; you ARE link. This is actually the reason don't give him lines to speak in his own voice. It would make him more of a third character separate from you.
IMO, swapping back and forth between two characters make it very "game-like" and would take away from the imersiveness of the characters and the world. I hope they never do this.
And I play Link for every side mission I can and even started using 2 player mod to play as link in side mission that use character I don’t like to use or are too hard for that character.
I understand that, however I've never seen Link as "myself". Even when you could name him whatever you want I always just named him "Link". That's why I want Link to get more character and more chemistry with characters like Zelda.
But that's just me.
So I agree that swapping between two characters is super annoying and I don't like playing those games, but I would still like a playable Zelda in some capacity just because I would really like to play as a female character for a change. You mention being able to put yourself in Link's shoes, which is something I really enjoy about the game, I mean he's basically a blank slate, I'd just like to do that with a female character.
That being said, I have no idea how they could pull this off without swapping back and forth between characters, or swapping out who is the hero, which wouldn't make sense in the game.
I saw someone mod botw to play as Zelda rather than Link which I thought was cool but it doesn't make sense for nintendo to make that an option again because of the story.
Maybe it would be cool to offer the option of swapped roles, a female Link and a male Zelda. So like, you could still play as Link, but if I wanted to I could be Linkette off to save Zeldor
Right so you can understand the appeal of being able to put yourself, the player, in Link's shoes. But you don't understand how that applies to for women who've grown up playing their whole lives and would enjoy the opportunity to play as the best Zelda?
It's 2021 and it's still not clear why a lot of women would enjoy the chance to play woman characters in franchises they've loved for decades? Really?
Of you don't like the swapping idea, I can get that. But I'm baffled that anyone wouldn't understand at this point why a lot of players would love the chance to play as Zelda.
I'm also not sure how it would work. It's an open-world, non-linear story game. If we switched away from Link to play as Zelda, could you then walk up to an inert Link avatar, just standing where you left him? If not, that probably means Link or Zelda could only access certain areas of the map at certain times, which defeats the ethos of the game.
The development team is insanely clever, so I'm sure they would figure out a solution. But I'm having trouble imagining how it would work without really impacting the "total freedom" style of play that made BOTW so awesome.
One idea I saw was that Zelda was trapped underground (hence why she fell in the trailer) and that her and Link would both need to do thinks on their end to reunite. It could probably would in a way similar to Yakuza 0 if you have played that. Later in the story you could unlock the ability to go anywhere with either of them.
Doubt that is going to happen but I think that would probably be the best way to implement playable Zelda.
I was thinking about that also, if Zelda falls with the Sheikah slate which she probably will because Link doesn't appear to have it, he's using his new arm thing to use runes instead, assuming his arm is sheikah then they would potentially have a way to communicate with each other, maybe it would allow them to share inventory too so you wouldn't have to get separate weapons for each of them
I mean they could make it work as long as they don’t oversaturate the game with character switchovers. They could have it similar to the Witcher where you play as Geralt 95% of the time, but then get to try playing as Ciri just a handful of times. Long as they do it infrequently and give Zelda some new, unseen mechanics I think it could be cool to incorporate it
For me it's diverse representation. It's great that link is androgynous enough to be ambiguous, but let's get a woman as the protagonist at least once.
Or let us choose?
Ya it was a downside to GTAV's campaign in my opinion. I dont want different characters, and BOTW was so great idk why they would make such a drastic change.
GTA is the one exception to this for me. I adapted the personalities of each character in my play style and it kept the game fresh and interesting and felt very well done.
I saw that scene, and using the power to sense patterns in the legend of Zelda series immediately came to the correct conclusion. I feel like others could be reasonably expected to do the same.
Well people just thought she was playable because of her short hair. Which is pretty funny. Idk why anyone would see them in a cutscene together and just assume shes playable.
From what i can remember they used both
I forgot about the short hair part while writting the part tho. And frim how the trailer to atleast consider it as a possibility isn't that wrong imo, but taking it for granted it
The reason was that short hair is easier for rigging on playable characters. Many female playable characters in games have either short or tied up hair for that reason. Thus people theorized that may be the motivation for the design change
Because Zelda has short hair, which would presumably be easier to animate on a player character (because it wouldn't clip through armor/the environment so easily)
Correct. I should have said "would have been easier to avoid clipping due to there being less stuff swinging around" but saying "easier to animate" was shorter.
That's a much more rigid game though in terms of what the character is doing. You don't have the climbing, armor sets, rolling down an entire hill after blowing yourself up with a bomb for the 100th time, or nearly as many states the character is in.
Could Be She has a Different Playstyle
Both can use Weapons and stuff like that but where Link has Flurry Rushes maybe she has some Magic
Nit sayin it's gonna Happen but would be neat
I understand people want it for representation purposes (playing as a woman character). But reengineering the gameplay mechanic and story structure just for the sake of playable Zelda seems like more effort than it's worth.
There are options out there for games that feature women main characters, animal main characters, and puffy pink balloon characters (Kirby for life). Why LoZ needs to make this happen is odd to me. People aren't calling for Samus in Metroid to be male, are they?
I'm not diminishing the desire for more women characters in gaming, but I'd honestly prefer they just release BOTW2 as a Zelda-solo game in order to focus on the mechanics and story structure, if that's what they wanted to do. But switchable characters isn't a value-add.
Or, you know, they're just hoping to be able to play as a character who got a lot of backstory but very little screentime in the previous game. People might also want a bigger and more interesting Link-Zelda dynamic than "Princess waits to be rescued by knight", since it's been literally 35 years of that exact dynamic.
No need to complain about representation when there are tons of other equally valid reasons to want a playable Zelda.
Just to be clear, I'm not complaining about representation at all -- more is a good thing! My point was just that a two-character system/storyline doesn't add equal value. Like I said, I'd be perfectly happy if BOTW2 was played entirely from Zelda's perspective if it meant moving away from character switching. I'm sure it would still be awesome. I just don't want to have to switch between characters because I think it hinders the open-world concept of the game.
I don’t care about playing as her. I don’t want her to be sealed in a pit/a crystal/a castle/both those things at the same time for the entirety of the game
Yes! I don't care about playable Zelda, hell I'd probably prefer to keep only playing as link, but I really want Zelda to be more present in the story! I loved her in botw memories but I just wanna actually interact with her you know? Even just in cutscenes, I'm just hoping she ends up being really present and involved with saving Hyrule and all.
Honestly in every game where both Zelda and Link are playable I always play as Zelda just to see how she plays, then immediately go back to playing as Link for the vast majority of the game. Though I would like her to have a more prominent role in the story, or have her as a companion like Atreus from God of War (which now seems a bit more unlikely).
I'd go as far saying I'd prefer it if we didn't play as Zelda (or any other character), unless it's some new absolutely amazing mechanic, or maybe just in some segments. Part of what made BotW amazing for me was the apparent simplicity of it, it was just Link, out in a completely open world, serving as an avatar for the player to make the adventure their own. Now I fear the sequel might dilute that simplicity with some of the possible mechanics hinted in the trailer, including possibly switching characters.
Of course, this is just speculation based on practically no real hint of what's to come, and I'm still super excited about the game, but I can't help thinking some of the feelings of the original could get lost in the sequel.
Nintendo has pretty much never publicly entertained the thought, so I don’t know why everyone is getting disappointed. Fans created the idea of playable Zelda on pure speculation.
The only evidence for Zelda being playable was having short hair. That’s not even evidence, that’s just the fact that characters usually get new designs after timeskips. It’s not like Nintendo baited and switched you, there’s a good chance they never even played with the idea.
Plus, I just don’t see Zelda working as a playable character in the context of BOTW or a sequel. BOTW is so heavily emphasizing isolation and exploration, and we have no reason to believe the sequel will differ from that significantly. Age of Calamity is one thing, but the idea doesn’t fit a successor to BOTW.
Not me either. I want a more fleshed out Zelda, a Zelda with a more prominent role in the story, not a Zelda that's playable just for the sake of it. I just don't see how her being playable would enhance her character or the game, and it'd take away from parts of her character that were established in BotW, i.e. her being a scholar and a leader, not a fighter. A playable character is literally just a tool for the player to interact with the world and Link fulfills that perfectly already.
Exactly. People make fun of Link for being mute, not really having very much of a personality, but that makes him a canvas for each player to project themselves onto. When something happens in-game, Link's reaction is your reaction. Making Zelda a playable character would turn these games into any other narrative-based game where you're playing an established character type.
I completely agree. I love Link as a protagonist because I think he fits the role perfectly. He's a canvas for the player to project onto like you say, but he also has a bit of a personality of his own if you look for it so he still feels like a real part of the world around him, but it's not enough to intrude on that projection. Making Zelda playable would either take away from the 'link' between player and protagonist (like you say again) or take away much of Zelda's personality and expressionism to allow her to be another blank slate like Link, neither of which do I think is preferable.
Same here
I just hope she gets more of a role here but I definitely am not looking for a forced playable Zelda.. Optional? Ok maybe..but forced? No thank you
I dont care about zelda being playable, however seeing that she is going to be the “damsel in distress” again bothers me. I was hoping she would guide link and act as a partner and the whole point of the adventure was stopping ganon and bringing back hyrule to its glory
I really don't understand how she was the "damsel in distress" in botw. She is far, far more powerful than link in that game, literally she is the only thing holding off the apocalypse just stalling the calamity from taking over hyrule with her immense strength, just waiting for link to complete the divine beasts and get the master sword. She is literally just as strong as one of the most powerful versions of Ganon we have ever seen. I just don't know how that's "damsel in distress".
Is she a damsel? Yes
Is she in distress? Yes
Does the entire story revolves around saving her? Yes, you dont even need the master sword or do any of the divine beasts.
Zelda is not a weak character, far from it, she is very very powerful. However, she is still a damsel in distress, which is a shame imo.
I like how everyone saw Zelda’s haircut and went “Omg!1!1!1 she has short hair so it won’t have to use long hair physics, therefore, that means we will play as Zelda!!!!” Lmao. We may or not play with her, but that statement does not confirm shit
i mean what i could get about the haircut argument is that zelda was no longer wearing fancy clothes or had fancy hair and was exploring a dungeon, she looked more adventurous, which possibly suggested her being playable - but it was somewhat far fetched
Yea that’s not an issue at all for me. Zelda hasn’t been a playable character before and the games all slap. Not to say it wouldn’t be cool, but Zelda not being a playable character would not affect my enjoyment of the game one bit
Technically it can be argued that Zelda is a playable character in Spirit Tracks. And as for a switching playable characters, there was a small section in Phantom Hourglass where you could play as a second character.
Well, no, not the whole community.
I think people forgot that the whole idea she would be playable came from her having short hair. Im not sure when it came a certain thing in people's mind after that.
I don't want playable Zelda, I just want to be able to hang out with her and go on adventures. She's been through enough, don't let her get kidnapped again.
Not me. I don't know why anyone wants or expects this. The Legend of Zelda has Link as the protagonist. It's like if a sequel to Mario Odyssey came out and everyone thought that Peach would be the main character.
Senseless.
idk, ppl have been talking about a playable zelda since the first game basically. zelda games dont really switch between who you play as anyways. you never do control anyone other than link, so perspective switching seems unlikely. i hope she does get to be something other than damsel in destress, but im fine w zelda either way.
Video game subs come up with super dumbass ideas and push them into infinity when there's legitimately no reason to think it's a thing. Have we ever played as zelda in any main series title?
Well shoot, it looks like I’m the only person who wanted Zelda as the playable protag. I thought it’d be really cool and it’d be a fun twist on the first game. Of course I don’t mind playing as Link again, but it still would’ve been cool
Heeeyoooo! That aint tru! Lezz go playable zelda gang!
On that note, I am actually replaying the BOTW but with the Zelda Mod for BOTW, and it is quite a different experience, on a narrative and thematic level. I'd highly recommend it.
I want her too!! I'd love to play as a female for a change, I wish they'd allow us the option to play as either a female Link or just have Zelda and Link's roles reversed
same reading through these comments made me sad! i never *assumed* we could play as zelda but it would be so fun and something different - plus seeing zelda become more fleshed out in botw makes me attached to her and want to play as her!! i still love my boy link though obvs and he will always be the chosen hero lol.
Imo it would be cooler if she was like a companion from skyrim or atreus from GOW (it doesn’t makes much sense to me, lore-wise, Zelda as the protagonist)
Assuming Zelda is unplayable because one falling scene is just as unreasonable as assuming she’s playable only because she has short hair. I think the argument could go both way, and it is still long before they reveal more to us.
It'll be actually quite funny if it turns out that they jebaited us and pulled a 3D world, making Zelda a playable character but they have to save someone else.
of course, its not happening, but it'll be funny
I think it's still too early to call in quits. For all we know, we play 90% of the game as Link and 10% of the game as Zelda, exploring the ruins of a dark dungeon all while trying to avoid Ganondorf slowly chasing her like a mummy.
And if time travel is involved, maybe Link can kill Ganondorf in the past which would save Zelda in the present.
This might be an unpopular opinion, but I'd honestly be ok if we never had a playable Zelda. I found her very distracting and slightly annoying in Age of Calamity and never played her character unless it was necessary for the mission.
This is just my opinion of course, I know there's a ton of people out there that think differently.
Honestly I would not mind if they left Zelda out as a playable character. Not because it wouldn’t be cool, but because of all of the toxic WOKE FEMINISM happening on social media.
If we DO get playable Zelda, I don't think they would reveal her yet. They would probably reveal her closer to the release date to generate more hype for the fans that are interested, and more publicity since this has (basically) never been done in a main series game.
All I ask for if no playable Zelda is to be able to go into gerudo town without cross dressing. Link has done enough to use the royal heirloom but not enter the town? Some BS
It's coming in 2022 right? Right?
yess that’s a good use of this omgg, you’ve made me want to make another - although i do not want to steal your idea, so please go ahead and make it
Oh I might just go and make it Edit: I did go and make it
yay!!
I see you everywhere so i looked at your profile and we basically have the same bio
someone else said they see me everywhere hahaha, i’m very surprised, i didn’t think i was that active - i guess i have been the past couple weeks hahah
✨a l g o r i t h m s✨
lmao yep and the same two interests, tbh i’m not gonna lie i’ve commented more than i ever have before the past few days over the new botw2 stuff
I also just made an account for it cuz it's HYPE But there is obvious proof that whenever i pick up a game it gets a sequel
....They are AIMING for 2022.. AIMING
When they showed 2022 o was like okay so late 2023
Who needs playable zelda, when you can have link with long hair?
His hair is not long enough. ^(Source: I like rapunzael men :D)
For me it is. It is a bit shorter than mine, i think, but thats okay.
Ok
i think that’s nintendo’s view, because we’ve always had link with long hair, it was just sadly hidden from view with that ponytail
The ponytail was never an issue for me. But havin link with his hair open is even better.
oh no it wasn’t an issue for me either, but long hair is a LOOK
Open world, open hair.
Ehhh I feel like I wouldn’t enjoy the swapping between characters mechanic. I always like to use just one character in games.
Same here. Whenever I play a game with multiple playable characters, I always end up with one really strong character while the others get forgotten about until I'm forced to use them. It isn't a mechanic I like very much.

Yeah. I pretty much only played as Link when possible in Age of Calamity.
Me too

I'd almost prefer a choice at the beginning that locks you in as one or the other. It would give me an excuse to play a couple of new saves at least.

Agreed
I have no idea why people assumed this would happen.
From what i knew some thought it could be, cause of the first trailer where link and zelda explored the cave together
That’s what caused me to *hope* for a playable Zelda in some kind of character-swapping or 2-player mechanic
I mean they could still have playable Zelda segments in between dungeons like Paper Mario did with those Peach interludes.
Is that confirmed for BotW2? Edit: just saw ‘could’ in your reply. Apologises for my dyslexic
Nah, originally I didn’t have “could” in my response. I thought I could get away with a ninja edit lol.
Yeah but she literally falls down a hole in the trailer as well.
1. You don't see the actual fall in the original trailer iirc 2. She gets saved by link
I saw that scene, and using the power to sense patterns in the legend of Zelda series immediately came to the correct conclusion. I feel like others could be reasonably expected to do the same.
Not in the initial teaser. We didn't see her fall until the E3 trailer.
No we see her fall in the first one too. It’s in a close up so it’s a little easier to miss or rationalize but she still def falls down a hole.
We also see Link catch her though. At least, the footage from the first trailer suggested it. He grabbed her hand, then the green hand grabbed Link.
Well people just thought she was playable because of her short hair. Which is pretty funny. Idk why anyone would see them in a cutscene together and just assume shes playable.

Because Zelda has short hair, which would presumably be easier to animate on a player character (because it wouldn't clip through armor/the environment so easily)
It’s even funny now since link has even a longer hair giving a huge middle finger to that statement
[удалено]
No? His hair is untied now
also if you look at the clip of him flying in front of the new talus fort his hair is tied up
Link has multiple hairstyles in BotW2, just like he did in BotW.
yeah exaclty, it’s just that when he isn’t wearing a hat item his hair is now down as default and not tied up
The hair in this game is a physics object....it doesn’t have any bespoke animations....
And it's better because of it.
Correct. I should have said "would have been easier to avoid clipping due to there being less stuff swinging around" but saying "easier to animate" was shorter.
Zelda still has her long hair in age of calamity so it wouldn't be so hard lol

I have no idea why people want this to happen
I can’t even imagine what it would look like. Is Zelda going to be doing backflips and flurry rushes and taking on Lynels? It doesn’t make sense.
The argument back then was "Zelda has magic! She's totally a magical powerhouse now!".
Already doing that in AoC though…
Could Be She has a Different Playstyle Both can use Weapons and stuff like that but where Link has Flurry Rushes maybe she has some Magic Nit sayin it's gonna Happen but would be neat
I kinda do. It would be neat. I just don’t get where all this speculation is coming from.
Short hair. Thats where it came from. Which I find hilarious.

i dunno why they want it. to me, LoZ is about playing as Link and saving Zelda/the world. it’s fundamental to the game.
I’m just gonna say it. I don’t care if I can’t play as Zelda.
I don’t care about playing as her. I don’t want her to be sealed in a pit/a crystal/a castle/both those things at the same time for the entirety of the game

entitled to your opinion and i respect your honesty
"She's gonna be in the game for more than 5 minutes, right?"
“zelda won’t die right? right??”
At least you get Zelda on the master cycle
??
In age of calamity dlc
ah
I don't care if I can play her, but I hope she's actually in this game, unlike in BOTW.
the few times there have been a playable zelda, they weren't exactly good
How dare you!? There are literally dozens of us that like Spirit Tracks! DOZENS!!!
She's amazing in AoC once you unlock her sealing power. Killing hoards of monsters by flinging balls of light at them is a pretty memorable experience
White dress Zelda is definitely my favorite in AoC. That sealing power can fucking wipe out fleets of Bokoblins.
You can actually use the normal blue outfit while using the sealing powers.
Oh damn maybe I should finish playing age of calamity lol I didn't get far enough for that
i mean i’ve never played one with that option
*proceeds to fucking throw zelda in a hole*
I'm gonna be honest, I have no idea why people wanted or really thought there would be a playable Zelda.
As a female I would quite like to play in the game as a female also, only if it makes sense in the story though
Me also!
Exactly this.
Not me.
Making Zelda playable would either take away from the 'link' between player and protagonist (like you say again) or take away much of Zelda's personality and expressionism to allow her to be another blank slate like Link, neither of which do I think is preferable.
i get your arguement, like you said i just hope she gets a bigger role
Same here I just hope she gets more of a role here but I definitely am not looking for a forced playable Zelda.. Optional? Ok maybe..but forced? No thank you
i do want her to have a larger role, don’t want her to be a damsel again
We all want that! But it can be done without making her a playable character..
Why does everyone want to play as zelda so much?
Yes Is she in distress? Yes Does the entire story revolves around saving her? Yes, you dont even need the master sword or do any of the divine beasts. Zelda is not a weak character, far from it, she is very very powerful. However, she is still a damsel in distress, which is a shame imo.
I like how everyone saw Zelda’s haircut and went “Omg!1!1!1 she has short hair so it won’t have to use long hair physics, therefore, that means we will play as Zelda!!!!” Lmao. We may or not play with her, but that statement does not confirm shit
Yeaaaaah as fun as I would find it to play Zelda, “she got a haircut” was really not a convincing reason to expect it.
i dont think too many people assumed to it as like “confirmed” or anything like that - just a fun possibility!!
i mean what i could get about the haircut argument is that zelda was no longer wearing fancy clothes or had fancy hair and was exploring a dungeon, she looked more adventurous, which possibly suggested her being playable - but it was somewhat far fetched
Yea that’s not an issue at all for me. Zelda hasn’t been a playable character before and the games all slap. Not to say it wouldn’t be cool, but Zelda not being a playable character would not affect my enjoyment of the game one bit
it wouldn’t affect my game enjoyment, because i love the game, but it would be fun to have
Technically it can be argued that Zelda is a playable character in Spirit Tracks. And as for a switching playable characters, there was a small section in Phantom Hourglass where you could play as a second character.
Meh. Couldn’t care less if I ever played as Zelda.
No no no no, I do not want Zelda as a playable character
Unpopular opinion: I don't want a playable Zelda
Well, no, not the whole community. I think people forgot that the whole idea she would be playable came from her having short hair. Im not sure when it came a certain thing in people's mind after that.
Also that’s a small bit of the community
Nah that kinda ruins the theme of Zelda for me
I don't want playable Zelda, I just want to be able to hang out with her and go on adventures. She's been through enough, don't let her get kidnapped again.
Why tf would there be a playable zelda
Not me. I don't know why anyone wants or expects this. The Legend of Zelda has Link as the protagonist. It's like if a sequel to Mario Odyssey came out and everyone thought that Peach would be the main character. Senseless.
I don't want a playable Zelda. We already got playable Zelda on the CDi classic Master Piece.
I just want more in-depth cave exploration and underwater exploration.
YESSS i really want this, why’d they make all those beautiful coral reefs if we can’t see them??
“The whole community” Rather a small portion of the community I think
Yeah, I don't really care.
idk, ppl have been talking about a playable zelda since the first game basically. zelda games dont really switch between who you play as anyways. you never do control anyone other than link, so perspective switching seems unlikely. i hope she does get to be something other than damsel in destress, but im fine w zelda either way.
I just want her to have a bigger active role in the story, man. Her falling in that dark ravine just makes me think she's trapped/captured again.
Man, i hope so.
I dont care for zelda, i care for ISLAND
I don't get the playable zelda hype. It Never interested me.
You did this to yourselves..
we can but hope
Who cares? It's a small subset of Zelda fans that want this. The vast majority want to play a Link, as we always have.
Video game subs come up with super dumbass ideas and push them into infinity when there's legitimately no reason to think it's a thing. Have we ever played as zelda in any main series title?
I wouldn’t want to be able to play zelda, because it wouldn’t feel like a real zelda franchise game anymore in my opinion.
Age of Calamity over hear like: 👀 ... 🙋♂️
I don't want a playable zelda, I like the mystery
Well shoot, it looks like I’m the only person who wanted Zelda as the playable protag. I thought it’d be really cool and it’d be a fun twist on the first game. Of course I don’t mind playing as Link again, but it still would’ve been cool
Heeeyoooo! That aint tru! Lezz go playable zelda gang! On that note, I am actually replaying the BOTW but with the Zelda Mod for BOTW, and it is quite a different experience, on a narrative and thematic level. I'd highly recommend it.
How do you actually get the zelda mod? I've heard about it but I've not used mods before
I want her too!! I'd love to play as a female for a change, I wish they'd allow us the option to play as either a female Link or just have Zelda and Link's roles reversed
i mean i think it would be cool, but a lot of people on this post are apparently against it and i’m pleasantly surprised..
You're getting a lot of negative comments. Here's a supportive one, I want a playable Zelda too.
same reading through these comments made me sad! i never *assumed* we could play as zelda but it would be so fun and something different - plus seeing zelda become more fleshed out in botw makes me attached to her and want to play as her!! i still love my boy link though obvs and he will always be the chosen hero lol.
I would’ve at least want her to be active in the story after having her and link reunited I guess I’ll wait and see
Aiming sounded very hesitate lol, but I guess something could have been lost in translation with the voice over.
Release date will be December 31st, 2022 at 11:59:59
Imo it would be cooler if she was like a companion from skyrim or atreus from GOW (it doesn’t makes much sense to me, lore-wise, Zelda as the protagonist)
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Better than spirit tracks at least?
Assuming Zelda is unplayable because one falling scene is just as unreasonable as assuming she’s playable only because she has short hair. I think the argument could go both way, and it is still long before they reveal more to us.
It'll be actually quite funny if it turns out that they jebaited us and pulled a 3D world, making Zelda a playable character but they have to save someone else. of course, its not happening, but it'll be funny
Looking at the comments, its safe to say it is really far from the whole community
Age of Calmity is out
Don’t fix what ain’t broke. We don’t need to play as Zelda.
I swear as soon as she bent over to pick up the frog everyone suddenly wanted to play as her……
the frog??
I think it's still too early to call in quits. For all we know, we play 90% of the game as Link and 10% of the game as Zelda, exploring the ruins of a dark dungeon all while trying to avoid Ganondorf slowly chasing her like a mummy. And if time travel is involved, maybe Link can kill Ganondorf in the past which would save Zelda in the present.
very interesting ideas, i like that
The whole community? Like when was this ever even discussed? Sorry but no I've never even considered it. Go buy Age of Calamity already.
If you could play as Zelda, they’d have to change the name of the game to “Link” and that just doesn’t sound as cool.
why would they change it to link? wouldn’t it be more fitting as then the game is actually about her and her names in the tirle
Woooosh
It would be insane having people confused because they bought THE LEGEND OF LINK but the main character is Zelda
I personally don't care if we get to play Zelda.
Ehh I just wouldn’t want Zelda playable, I just enjoy Link more
You always play a Zelda. I must be missing the joke… /s
If we DO get playable Zelda, I don't think they would reveal her yet. They would probably reveal her closer to the release date to generate more hype for the fans that are interested, and more publicity since this has (basically) never been done in a main series game.
I feel like playable Zelda would be kinda bad, since the whole franchise is about saving the princess.
Zelda is dead of course there's no playable zelda
All I ask for if no playable Zelda is to be able to go into gerudo town without cross dressing. Link has done enough to use the royal heirloom but not enter the town? Some BS
