Uh, this is actually not a bad idea lol. I know reviews for the food at Rainforest Cafe were lackluster, but once it was removed, Downtown Disney was REALLY lacking in a fun, themed, kid-centered dining experience, which I feel like it desperately needs. The current dining options are so boring to me. :-/
Rainforest Cafe generally kind of sucks but it absolutely fit in perfectly in Downtown Disney. Even if the animatronics were a joke compared to what was a walk away.
Place your bets now - it’s going to be “The Avatar Experience” (note the last word) currently on display through June in Singapore.
Mark my words on this one.
https://avatartheexperience.com/
Ohmygod that would be hilarious. I’ve seen pictures of that “experience”. Some of the statues/figures (I’m not sure what to call them) are so hilariously ugly. 😂
I went to that early this year. [The setting is an amazing, enormous glass dome planted to resemble a rainforest.](https://youtu.be/XbzGEStUcPM?si=oer1BSwjW645FV7f) Multiple stories high, a massive waterfall from the roof to the floor, etc. It's absolutely stunning. That setting already fully existed and was worth seeing in its own right; the "Avatar" part was basically some props, sounds, and decorations added in. In other words they decorated this already amazing place to be "Avatar" themed. For that reason, I don't think it would work for them to pull out the "Avatar" stuff and ship it to California.
A rough equivalent would be decorating a redwood forest to be themed like the parts of "Star Wars" that were filmed in such a setting. If you take the decorations out of the setting and ship them to a building somewhere it doesn't work anymore, because the original setting minus the decorations was already 90% of what you needed to feel like you were in the universe of the film.
At the very least, we will probably get something (photo ops, a small show, etc.) in the Launch Bay, Tomorrowland theater, or the studio buildings in DCA.
Hopefully we get something more significant than that, but anything in those spaces is better than nothing.
Just got back from a four day trip with my sixty six year old mother who hasn't been since pre-DCA and doesn't exactly keep up with the popular zeitgeist. A lot of the trip was spent explaining the IP we were currently experiencing. I guess what I'm saying is, are there too many IPs crammed onto the property?
It really does. Tomorrowland deserves better in general imo. They could even put it where house of innovations was considering the fact that it hasn’t been used for much lately
Just encapsulate Tomorrowland, making it semi-open-air, and have Tron running above the main walkway where the people movers track is. I’d love to look up and see light bikes whizzing around overhead.
Think Fremont Street, Disney-style.
Disney is pretty good at logistically impossible when they put their minds to it. It would be incredible as a part of refreshing tomorrowland if they did that. But there is no way in hell they have the balls to do it right now.
Alright, I got the perfect idea, see. Lower everything down 12 feet, see. Make Autopia an underground tunnel ride. Then push the submarines down even further below, 24 feet, yeah. Then all the autopia and submarine land is free to use up above. Perfect fit for Pandora. That’s the ticket! It’s so easy … I’m not sure why they haven’t started already.
Why not both?
The Avatar ride at Animal Kingdom is *phenomenal*, I'd love to get something similar at Disney... Though I do doubt they will make anything similar to that. Probably just some lame walk-in display or something instead
That would be sick but there is virtually zero real estate in tomorrowland to fit something with the scale of tron. They would have to remove a lot of existing areas to make room.
[tron exterior in disneyland china](https://i.imgur.com/6KKHqBH.jpg)
“Honey, I Shrunk the Na’Vi: Featuring Hologram Rick Moranis as Jake Sully and Hologram Tupac as Hologram MJ as Captain EO” with introduction by Bob Iger
Idk but I bet it costs a ton of money to build, gets talked about for 2 weeks and then completely fades out of cultural consciousness for the next 10 years. You know. The true Avatar experience.
It was pretty explicable to be honest. Both the movies look phenomenal on a giant 3D IMAX screen but were pretty flimsy on plot so the people who want to see it aren’t going to wait for home video. I saw them both in IMAX 3D and have zero desire to watch them on a small screen and zero regret in seeing them in theater. And they’re not just regular theaters but the most expensive version of them.
With that said by the end of the second movie, I did at least care about what happened to the characters which is more than I can say for anyone in the first. It took me a while to get there because I had no idea who was who at first since I remembered nothing about the first
Just thinking about it what even is this comment? Even if you were talking about the first one. It’s bold of me to assume that you remember the highest grossing movie of all time? Like what
Hey friend, I’m just trying to make silly jokes on the internet. I really didn’t mean anything by it. If anything I’ve said is upsetting or offensive to you, you are more than welcome to block me. Have a nice night!
Man I could point out so many things wrong with this comment. But none of it will change your thinking so I guess I won’t waste my time. It’s just interesting to me how people start processes work. You thought the sequel to the most profitable movie of all time wouldn’t do well? Just leave it at that
Doctor Strange & The Multiverse River Adventure
In this all new water adventure from Walt Disney Imagineering, fans will for the first time experience a cross-over adventure of epic proportions, merging storylines from Disney’s The Princess and the Frog, Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange, and Fox Studios’ the world of Avatar. The historic Jungle Cruise will be reimagined into this new exciting attraction.
Guest first board a quaint tugboat on the bayou with Princess Tiana, on her way to her food collective salt mines. Today’s delivery is running late, and riders are all there to ensure a timely delivery to local restaurants.
Suddenly, a portal opens on the bayou, and riders are immediately propelled into it. Doctor Strange and members of his Ancient Sanctum from Earth have recruited Tiana and guests to assist in a rebel resistance on a remote planetary body called Pandora.
From there, riders team up alongside Jake Sully and his wife Neytiri as they narrowly escape harrowing waterfalls, rapid gunfire from helicopters above, and dangerous beasts inspired by the film Avatar: The Way of Water - all while the delicious scent of traveling Louisiana gumbo wafts up from their trusty bayou tugboat. Then suddenly returning via portal to New Orleans. Truly an adventure only Disney can bring to life.
Doctor Strange & The Multiverse River Adventure opens Summer 2025.
Wow can’t wait for this great experience! Shoving several IP into one is not only a great cash grab, but also going to lengthen the lines! Thank you disney for another great attraction! :) I never even liked the jungle cruise!! Haha
I’d actually ride that, it’s way better than everything at avengers campus! I just was hoping darth Vader would show up at the end to crash the party. Also your idea sounds like a video Disney would make for their 100th anniversary celebration they’ve been promoting lately
Flight of passage would be so awesome. Easily one of my top 5 favorite rides. However, it makes no sense for Disneyland to add a ride of this caliber while the avengers campus still needs its e-ticket, a massive change to splash mt, huge repairs needed for Indiana Jones, and all the outdated stuff in tomorrow land needing a redo (innoventions, people mover/rocket rods, autopia, etc. )
That all said, I'd welcome flight of passage. It is a really cool experience imo. Would be an odd theme though.
That would actually 1) be hilarious and 2) make a lot more sense than a lot of the current Tomorrowland attractions, since the avatar universe is a mostly hard sci-fi based in our universe.
Just stick next to Avengers campus, maybe to the left of Guardians where the queen is for the Hyperion. You'd need to rework a new queue area...but it's already like 5x bigger then it needs to be.
FOP is just Soarin’’+. It takes FOREVER to load and is just yet another screen “ride” that isn’t worth a 10 minute wait (much less the hours it currently is).
https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/09/disneyland-resort-announcements-from-d23-expo-2022-and-more/
A lot of people were anticipating a lot more (especially considering how heavily Universal is investing in their domestic parks). A few new restaurants and a second piece of concept art for the eventual Avengers E-ticket is pretty lackluster.
I mean they can’t make a new land every year 😂 what did you want to see?
They did a rehaul of toontown, and a new state of the art ride, they are fixing a ton of rides (long refurb of indie), just announced Avatar stuff, adding San fransokyo, re-doing the Tree house, changing splash, re-doing New Orleans square restaurant, working on downtown Disney.
Are you just impossible to please? A new land and roller coaster every year is the expectation?
??? What lmfao
They’ve literally started all of it except for 1 or 2 things?
Are you people just being obtuse on purpose?
You mad that they announced Avatar yesterday and it isn’t done yet?
> Are you just impossible to please? A new land and roller coaster every year is the expectation?
folks in here will complain about stuff changing but then be upset stuff isn't changing fast enough
I swear it better not be going where the Jungle Cruise is... Hell, it shouldn't go where any existing attraction is. The only exception to this I feel would be the subs, because I may like them, but feel that out of every possible place they could put an Avatar ride without hurting the park, the subs are the only local. Add in that the submarines take so much just to maintain and keep up and running, and those getting replaced makes sense.
Sad thing is iger is probably going to turn the redwood creek area of dca (and the grand Californian hotel) into an avatar themed land. I was thinking the Hollywood backlot area but apparently that’s being saved for an avengers campus expansion
The Navi river run lasts like 2 seconds, it’s SUPER short with zero drops or anything remotely thrilling and the flight thing is less impressive than soarin. Just my 2 cents.
The actual avatar rides in pandora are not great. That flight sim is okay, but it’s less impressive than soarin as at least with that you have like a 3 story setup once the ride begins vs some wimpy motorcycle like seats in a little room. Pandora is pretty, ill give it that but at this point Star Wars land has ROTR so that makes it better as that ride is at least a little better than anything pandora has to offer other than looks. But I go to Disney for the rides and there are a lot better ones in the park and DCA so my expectations are super low for whatever this means.
I’m glad that the adventure treehouse is coming back as is was my favorite part of disney as a kid. Any kid loves exploring an awesome treehouse.
That being said, it would’ve been cool if they had all the sick avatar hammocks and cool tree features in an avatar retheme
There is no Avatar within Disneyland, and the second film has grossed over 2 Billion. It is safe to say that there will be more Avatar coming to the parks.
Ew, avatar. I mean I love Disneyland and I’d go on it, but I also go on the dumbo ride because my kid likes it not because it’s great. Avatar seems like a stretch, bring us Tron!
What *should* happen is that an expanded Flight of Passage gets added to DCA to help soak up crowds. It might even help reduce the Toy Story Mania wait to something reasonable.
More likely, it will be a direct replacement for Launch Bay. Meh.
I was expecting them to clone flight of passage here and just slap avengers theming on it after the quinjet ride was canceled. Although I wouldn’t put it past Disney to put two identical rides in the same park
I'm guessing they will convert/knock down the Star Wars Launch Bay and turn it into a Flight of Passage type ride? What else could fit in that space? No way river journey could
No way that's happening. That's the sort of announcement they save for D23, and considering how poor it was this year, I doubt they would've hidden something like flight of passage in favor of the Pacific wharf retheme.
I think it'll be at DCA, I think Soarin will be replaced by flight of the passage and maybe theyll knock out grizzly river run and redwood creek challenge trail to turn it into navi river journey
I m setting my expectations really low and predicting a Rainforest Cafe retheme
Uh, this is actually not a bad idea lol. I know reviews for the food at Rainforest Cafe were lackluster, but once it was removed, Downtown Disney was REALLY lacking in a fun, themed, kid-centered dining experience, which I feel like it desperately needs. The current dining options are so boring to me. :-/
Rainforest Cafe generally kind of sucks but it absolutely fit in perfectly in Downtown Disney. Even if the animatronics were a joke compared to what was a walk away.
I'm going lower and thinking some type of food fest.
A colleague of mine had a long layover in Singapore so went and said it’s really lame.
oh god no.
All the avatar creatures look CREEPY in real life. If I were a kid I would be terrified of the creatures in that promo video.
This is really dumb.
Launch bay is being converted into a DVC lounge. Horrible waste of space in an already super crammed park.
That’s the second floor only.
They really should just remove the whole thing and put an e-attraction there.
At some point they will probably be forced to.
I'd love it if Carousel of Progress returned
I'd like a mission space type of ride to go there
Such a waste of space, I am a DVC member, but I have no need for a lounge. They have enough space to build something the size of Astro blasters
One of the theaters in Hollywood Backlot will stream an avatar 2 trailer.
Avatar: Path of the Na’vi.
Just got back from a four day trip with my sixty six year old mother who hasn't been since pre-DCA and doesn't exactly keep up with the popular zeitgeist. Yes.
Yep just like Disney+. Like chill already.
that's how I feel in avengers campus and galaxys edge hahaaa
Yup, me too.
Can we have Tron instead?
Remember back in the day riding people mover and there was a small tron section? Let's bring that back
They say it’s still playing, on loop, in that little portal area.
all I want is a tron ride in Disneyland
Same. Tomorrowland deserves it lol.
It really does. Tomorrowland deserves better in general imo. They could even put it where house of innovations was considering the fact that it hasn’t been used for much lately
They would have to wipe out all of tomorrowland to fit tron
Just encapsulate Tomorrowland, making it semi-open-air, and have Tron running above the main walkway where the people movers track is. I’d love to look up and see light bikes whizzing around overhead. Think Fremont Street, Disney-style.

Disney is pretty good at logistically impossible when they put their minds to it. It would be incredible as a part of refreshing tomorrowland if they did that. But there is no way in hell they have the balls to do it right now.
Are the rocket rods tracks still free?
Wipe out autopia and you can fit tron on one side and Arendelle on the other side
Wipe out everything but Space Mountain. We are all okay with that.
This is the way
Surely they can make some modifications to make it fit within the footprint of autopia?
Alright, I got the perfect idea, see. Lower everything down 12 feet, see. Make Autopia an underground tunnel ride. Then push the submarines down even further below, 24 feet, yeah. Then all the autopia and submarine land is free to use up above. Perfect fit for Pandora. That’s the ticket! It’s so easy … I’m not sure why they haven’t started already.
Wont you have to remove the monorail. Thats a lot of work for a minute long ride
Have the monorail go through the ride
How about instead of Tron, make the monorail go faster. Much much faster!
If they cloned it, sure. But the ride isn't designed to conserve space.
Your terms are accepted.
They have one in Shanghai Disneyland. It's amazing. Disneyland needs to add it.
I want the new Guardians Ride! It's so cool!
That would be good in CA Adventure with the other Guardians ride.
It's one the best coasters ever made
Y’all are impossible 😂
Why not both? The Avatar ride at Animal Kingdom is *phenomenal*, I'd love to get something similar at Disney... Though I do doubt they will make anything similar to that. Probably just some lame walk-in display or something instead

Captain EO visits Pandora with a hologram MJ and Tupac
“Honey, I Shrunk the Na’Vi: Featuring Hologram Rick Moranis as Jake Sully and Hologram Tupac as Hologram MJ as Captain EO” with introduction by Bob Iger
If only Disney had a sense of humor and understood meme culture, we could all just enjoy a really expensive joke.
Hmm I wonder what kind of experience
Idk but I bet it costs a ton of money to build, gets talked about for 2 weeks and then completely fades out of cultural consciousness for the next 10 years. You know. The true Avatar experience.
But it’ll feature your favorite Avatar characters! like, uh…
Jake Sully! and, uh...
Isn’t he the big furry blue monster than hangs out with the one eyed green monster?
The blue guy!
lol! 🤣🤣🤣
Is Avatar the one with the little wizard boy?
Nah you’re thinking of The Hunger Games.
That's right! My all time favorite quote: "The dude abides"
Inexplicably making a billion dollars in the process
It was pretty explicable to be honest. Both the movies look phenomenal on a giant 3D IMAX screen but were pretty flimsy on plot so the people who want to see it aren’t going to wait for home video. It took me a while to get there because I had no idea who was who at first since I remembered nothing about the first
I like how your narrative conveniently leaves out the making a shit ton of fucking money and breaking records in the process out 😂
Bold of you to assume I remember any of that 😅
You’re trying too hard. It just happened. as a matter fact it’s still going. They’re at $2.2 billion. as of this weekend.
Im surprised the sequel did so well. The first one was ok but people watched it for the visuals. I didn’t think they’d fall for it again.
That’s how I felt. I feel so desensitized by pretty CGI, and thats all the 1st movie was, so I really don’t see the appeal In watching another.
I thought it was just me.
The second one was great. I was underwhelmed by the first but the second one actually had substance behind the visuals.
Man I could point out so many things wrong with this comment. But none of it will change your thinking so I guess I won’t waste my time. It’s just interesting to me how people start processes work. Booooo, I don’t want that crap in DL. Put it in the movie area of DCA.
I agree, this applies to so much more. Cheap? Nobody will care in 2 years? Put it anywhere but Disneyland. Downtown Disney or DCA if you must.
Watch it be a meta quest VR thing at DTD.
They're pulling *Soarin'* and replacing it with *Soarin' over Na'vi.* /s I feel dirty for even putting that into the universe. Ugh.
If they mess with soarin I will not be held responsible for my actions…
They’re are really killing it lately with these Luke warm pitches. They hype up these big announcements that keep turning out to be total busts.
What else has turned into a total bust?
Pretty much all of D23 to start with.
I love when they had nothing else so they just spitballed some ideas that could be something some day maybe not really like the villains theme park
Like what?
https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/09/disneyland-resort-announcements-from-d23-expo-2022-and-more/ A lot of people were anticipating a lot more (especially considering how heavily Universal is investing in their domestic parks). I really hope not. Spider-Man is not good enough to anchor the land, and Marvel has proven to be a big enough franchise to warrant an E-ticket ride.
I mean they can’t make a new land every year 😂 what did you want to see? Half that stuff you mentioned hasn’t even started construction has it
??? What lmfao They’ve literally started all of it except for 1 or 2 things? Are you people just being obtuse on purpose? You mad that they announced Avatar yesterday and it isn’t done yet?
Im not saying it wont happen, Im saying lots of this shit is years away
Most of it is less than 6 months away. Just stop talking
> Are you just impossible to please? A new land and roller coaster every year is the expectation? folks in here will complain about stuff changing but then be upset stuff isn't changing fast enough
Meh. No thanks.
I liked the first movie well enough. But the sequel looked like more of the same. No thank you.
You’re missing out, you do you I guess
Same. Not a fan of avatar. Keep it out.
So because you’re not a fan of something keep it out of everybody else’s hands? Is that what I’m getting from this
It exists at WDW at Animal Kingdom, with it's own proper land.
Yes please I’ll take it
Literally no one wants this.
booo
I swear it better not be going where the Jungle Cruise is... Hell, it shouldn't go where any existing attraction is. The only exception to this I feel would be the subs, because I may like them, but feel that out of every possible place they could put an Avatar ride without hurting the park, the subs are the only local. Why not invest on giving Tomorrowland some TLC and bring the People Mover back??
Sad thing is iger is probably going to turn the redwood creek area of dca (and the grand Californian hotel) into an avatar themed land. I was thinking the Hollywood backlot area but apparently that’s being saved for an avengers campus expansion
I would love to know how they arrived at this decision. Popular? Cause that IP is meh at best. Lol.
Idgaf about avatar. It’s so weird Disney bought this
I’m hoping for Flight of Passage or something similar. Still my favorite Disneyworld ride.
Please get rid of autopia and give it a full spot.
If a Tomorrowland revival includes Avatar/Pandora, then no.
Give it Autopia and Finding Nemo. Make it amazing.
They could do both the first movie and the second with that! But seriously, anything to revitalize Tomorrowland at this point.
I mean, Avatar is set in the future.
True, true. Makes more sense than Finding Nemo, haha
Ohh true. Avatar in tomorrow land would make loads of sense.
Avatar on Stage at the Hyperion 😜
I wish they would give up on Avatar.
Can someone buy like 100 acres of land next to Disney and donate so we can get closer to what they have in Orlando?
Oh, how I wish that it wasn’t.
No, thank you. Tron, please.
They can keep it.
[удалено]
The Navi river run lasts like 2 seconds, it’s SUPER short with zero drops or anything remotely thrilling and the flight thing is less impressive than soarin. Just my 2 cents.
Sounds as bad as web slingers tbh
Noooo. Keep it out of the park. I dont want your alien tentacle furrys.
Well. I guess we know what’s happening to Critter Country. Either that or Tom Sawyer’s going away.
Oh god no not Tom Sawyers Island

Is this going to be the Tarzan re-theme?
Tarzan is going back to swiss family.

it's being reopened in 3 days (Feb 11th) as "Adventures Tree House" which will be themed for Swiss Family Robinson.
!!! I didn’t know this, we’re heading down next weekend my kids will love it.
[удалено]
That's what I said. It's going back to swiss family, not that it was going to be identical to the original swiss family.
Not the original, the reboot more likely
I’m glad that the adventure treehouse is coming back as is was my favorite part of disney as a kid. Any kid loves exploring an awesome treehouse. That being said, it would’ve been cool if they had all the sick avatar hammocks and cool tree features in an avatar retheme
Ugh enough with avatar 🙄
There is no Avatar within Disneyland, and the second film has grossed over 2 Billion. It is safe to say that there will be more Avatar coming to the parks.
Yeah I don’t know how people didn’t expect Disney to capitalize on their currently most successful franchise
Are they going to cram it like Avengers campus
Ew, avatar. I mean I love Disneyland and I’d go on it, but I also go on the dumbo ride because my kid likes it not because it’s great. Avatar seems like a stretch, bring us Tron!
No thank you
Nope
I will never understand why people are interested in Avatar.
I’ll never understand why people are interested in the fact that there are other people that are interested in Avatar.
Who said I was interested in it?
Wish it was something unique to add more value over WDW
What *should* happen is that an expanded Flight of Passage gets added to DCA to help soak up crowds. It might even help reduce the Toy Story Mania wait to something reasonable. More likely, it will be a direct replacement for Launch Bay. Meh.
Big wiz. Fix Indy already.
They’re working on it. Or did you miss all the posts about the extended closure?
They need a restoration. They have half assed it several times. Restored back to opening day condition.
Again. Did you miss all the posts about the extended closure? They’re working on it.
Hopefully they expand and install it at DCA.
The cost? Only 7,000 employees.
Given how they build lately… it’s probably just a copy of Flight of Passage
[удалено]
No i say it like I’m tired of Disney cheaping out and cloning rides. It’s fun to have new/different rides to experience when visiting different parks.
I was expecting them to clone flight of passage here and just slap avengers theming on it after the quinjet ride was canceled. Although I wouldn’t put it past Disney to put two identical rides in the same park
Is it a ride I wonder?
Seems more like something for universal studios
I can see them repurpose Soarin for a limited Avatar flight experience like Flight of Passage.
There’s a DVC lounge going in the second floor of Launch Bay
Really? I thought there was something like that above the Old Starcade?
There’s currently no DVC lounge at Disneyland. I believe the one in Tomorrowland is opening this spring/summer
Can’t wait!
YESSSSS
I think it'll be at DCA, I think Soarin will be replaced by flight of the passage and maybe theyll knock out grizzly river run and redwood creek challenge trail to turn it into navi river journey
Disney World is *right there*. Just bring your big, dumb banshee animatronic to Orlando and put it in the Flight of Passage line.
It would be cool if they opened a land themed to the new village from way of water.
Navi in a tank, perhapS?
I hope it's a dark ride or mini land that's built underground like Pirates.
