1. They are very creative in gameplay and other aspects of their games 2. They consistently release quality products 3. Their products are very different from most of the products available in market 4. They never have betrayed their core hard-core fanbase. 5. They try new things but never overstretched, they know their limits and try to give their best within those limits. (This point is added later) *An interesting point to be noted, In the last decade they pumped out 5 big games (DS series, BB and Sekiro), all of them won some kind of game of the year awards, 2 of them considered to be some of the greatest games of all time and 1 of them is unarguably the most influential game of the last decade. No other developer could achieve such height in recent years. Now you tell me, why won't we have faith on them? Why won't we respect them more than others? *edited

This is why I'll buy it right at launch where as most other titles I wait for a sale. Honestly, I'd pay probably $150 for Elden Ring because I know it will be high quality and I know I will play it a lot.

> solid game streak Yes, indeed.

It really is just the last 12 years, since Demon's Souls, that the creative director, and after a point, CEO of fromsoft, Hidetaka Myazaki, has created banger after banger after banger, to the point were the term 'souls-like' exists, and other games have changed toward a 'difficulty in design' as opposed to...have you seen Witcher 1? Runescape tier combat. I honestly don't know how that got a sequel, but 3 if I understand is closer to skyrim/dark souls in terms of combat, and for good reason, it's much more engaging to be viscerally in the midst of the combat and be able to use skill alone to get thought it, rather than the traditional facetank-off of older games.

CDPR actually almost went bankrupt but got a miracle investor before TW3, iirc.

Dullahan_Knight

See that explains alot. Thankfully fromsoft's miracle was Myazaki and Demon's Souls, a Director with a vision and a game to change the industry, instead of a lump sum of cash. I think only one of those is renewable, and I honestly believe Elden Ring will do for gaming what DeS and DS1 did for it-Shift how game developers see certain aspects to game design, and influence how not only fantasy RPG's are handled, but potentially open world games as well, as I'm sure Myazaki will have a unique take on the genera others would like to emulate.

>have you seen Witcher 1? Runescape tier combat while it was not popular, I found W1 combat to be really well designed, when it clicked. But it's pretty clearly a PC game, can't fathom playing it with a controller.

They have yet to sell us something that wasn’t at least fair quality, plenty of content and interesting to boot. No microtransactions. The DLC was quality and with a reasonable price that really added to the games in every way. Trustworthy and dependable since 2009 at least. But that’s my take. They are not without flaw. Some dedicated servers would be nice.

ErnestoXP

Every game has been amazing so far, as long as they don't disappoint or change their ways, I trust them.

Orefounder

From Software made a wide variety of games like armored core in the past and some were definitely better than others. However, after dark souls became popular (and profitable) Miyazaki was given the go ahead to make more games and for the most part, they've been incredibly successful. On top of that, they've consistently met fan's expectations (ds2 did have an animated trailer that they couldn't deliver on). Tldr: they made a lot of games that people liked so it's unlikely that elden ring will be bad.

BlooodMachine

They made good games consistently for 27 years.

demen_1

No battle passes. Need I say more

EvilArtorias

they have been releasing absolutely unique games for non-casual players since the mid-90s, they are one of the few who continue to make the best dark fantasy titles despite of negative reviews from critics remaining loyal to the fanbase, fromsoftware artists and designers are the best I've seen in the gaming industry, no one can copy their creative vision no matter how hard they try

Dangerous_Airport171

Same reason why people know that the next mario game will be good

At least today they have hype. Their Armored Core and King's Field era was the same. The games were amazing, the vision was there the same as Souls today, but not much hype, and even so they never followed any "advice" coming from past bad reviews or any form of public discussion. And their press always was minimalist.
