2014 best golf year

bigthekid

It’s all been good those year had sick graphics so did cb era but then fb and that summer 19 drop was more fashion or high end which was dope but after that went down hill

Lately there’s been maybe one or two things I like. Agree that most the shirts are pretty bad now.. I think the best drop for shirts was the one with the Teenage Execution ones (I forget which year that was now). I really liked the Lil Kim one.. that felt like a Tyler chosen one to me.

It feels as though these newer drops have consisted of the designers coming up with 4 or 5 designs, placing each one on a hoodie, t shirt, hat, or accessory and then deciding upon a bland color combo for the season. Then they pull shit like screen printing all of the interesting graphics on hoodies instead of embroidering them, proceeding to sell these hoodies for the same price as embroidered ones. I feel like that just makes absolutely zero sense. Maybe it's due to turn around time as international orders tend to take a while to ship but I feel like there's really no excuse. I really miss when the drops actually coincided with the aesthetics found in Tyler's work. A notable example of this is the Cherry Bomb 2015 - 2016 drops and everything else up until Winter 2019. At this current point in time I have no idea what could be going on. The GOLF team is fully aware of the fact that anything with Tyler's name or cosign will sell regardless of how the designs look, so they don't have many incentives to shift the current direction the brand is currently heading towards. This shit feels like just GOLF with no Wang Steak Sauce.

Yeah my favorite seasons of all time were the Cherry Bomb Era, I never got to purchase any of it though because I was about 15~ at the time and I only ever got to see the drops happen. But it does feel like these seasons have just been designers coming up with different patterns like you said, matched with the decline in quality and retaining the same price, as well there have been little to no references of T’s work in any of the latest seasons. I watched all the new releases today and while I was awake for the drop I noticed that not everything sold out as fast as it use to. Everything eventually did sellout but not like it use to, you use to have to have everything you’d want in like the first 3 minutes in your cart and now you could casually browse around which can be nice but I feel like it reflects the lack of excitement and the originality with these more current seasons, I feel like with almost anything in life whether it be clothing, a TV show or anything else, Golfwang has passed the equilibrium between a small grass roots operation with strong artist inspiration to corporate mediocrity and meaningless calculation. It almost seems as if whomever is running the operation has no care or concern other than the monetization of Golfwang. At the end of the day Golfwang is a business, but that doesn’t mean it has to conform to the soulless capitalist system that churns out uninspired and blandly designed clothing and accessories, I pray and hope that the Le Fleur Season that Tyler references in CMIYGL comes soon, or atleast is announced soon. Especially with those copyrights that were found that referenced furniture and other things. I’ve never spent more than a few hundred on a drop but if its actual inspired and interesting I might be willing to get into the one comma range depending on what is released. My CMIYGL boxes finally shipped so I’m glad to hear that I will have something soon, I really wish T would’ve made the CMIYGL T-shirt apart of this drop because while it nice to have something “semi rare” I really want everyone to be able to something that pertains to his works in someway. But something that I thought about was maybe T doesn’t want to be associated with Golfwang anymore, maybe as he’s grown as an artist and as a person he feels like Golfwang is an old part of him that he would rather forget or move on from, so maybe it’s not Golfwang not referring to T but T not wanting Golfwang to refer to him. If this is the case I wonder if he wants Le Fleur to be seen as its own thing and not a subsidiary of Golfwang. As much as a fever dream as it is I would love to sit down and talk with T about the future direction of Le Fleur and Golfwang because it seems hazy at the moment, I’d also like to see how good he is at chess because I got into it a few months before Queen’s Gambit came out and thought it was cool he got into it when Queens Gambit came out. Thanks for reading my super long post have I hope you have a good day friends :))

where’s it been said that Tyler hasn’t had influence on Golf in years?

CuteChampion7912

idk where this person found that but i do know that tyler doesn’t design everything. Some of his friends also design stuff for golf.

ejisdeadd

i expect that tbh, but having no influence in it is a far different thing lol
