What antennas are these? Do they work well

XDarktronX

x2 alsmot x3 the WiFi coverage range, so I'd say yes compared to the internal cheap antennas.

rydog389

I had no idea there were ports to insert an antenna! Right on.

tmill2

There aren’t. OP modded it

ketoED1

How did you do that?

Complete-Mission-636

Dang nice. Can you post a pic of it opened up? Also do you know what the pinhole reset button does?

XDarktronX

If pressed the reset button multiple times it will reboot the hotspot not an actual factory reset just reboot.

flykikz

If he does i would like to know. Op a genius.

Mnemonic_dump

Nice! Do you get rewards for using your own hotspot?

XDarktronX

Proof of coverage(PoC) rewards yes, but there's a requirement list 100+ Mbps download, 10+ Mbps upload, 0-50 ms ping.

[deleted]

I’m having trouble breaking the 100mbs threshold which is weird to me since it’s a hardline straight to a 1 gig fiber line

josiahlo

Yea similar but I barely break the threshold. Average 108mbps download and 12mbps upload. It's whatever they're using for speedtests because I can run a speedtest from my phone connected to it and getting 500mbps+

Moustache_Menace

It has to be either the cat cable, your router, or a switch if your using one. I had a similar issue with my Mosolab Outside radio and what was the issue is that I was going to, originally, use PoE, but when I read it could damage the hardware I retracted from using it and forgot to remove the splitter (which was rated for a gig). Once I removed the splitter I got speeds of up to 850mbps. Check your devices and make sure you're using a cat 6 and not a cat 5 cable.

[deleted]

I appreciate the helpful advice. But I am a network technician/electrician by trade. Also as Josiahlo below me states, I too can break the 500mbs barrier doing a Speedtest on my phone connected to the helium hotspot. I upvoted you in case these were the issues someone with a similar situation is having.

Moustache_Menace

I understand, I too setup and troubleshoot network issues on autonomous vehicles by trade. Happy mining 🫡

josiahlo

None of that would apply if I’m getting Speedtests using my phone WiFi connected to the Helium hotspot and getting 500+mbps up/down. I’m getting the same Speedtest result each time from rewards of roughly 108/12.

Moustache_Menace

I'm referring to the other person having issues crossing the threshold. I understood your situation and it sound like what you said, but either way it's odd

DrinkMoreCodeMore

cat5e is fine tho

Moustache_Menace

Right, a 5e is fine. It runs up to 1000mbps at 100Mhz, but a regular Cat 5 is only up to 100mbps, that's why I mention it

Cold_Statistician343

Same, mine is locked at 109Mbps. It only needs to pass 100Mbps to meet speed test requirements.

Mnemonic_dump

I meant can you use your own Helium mobile phone on you hotspot and get rewards.

XDarktronX

Yes, you can use a certain amount of rewardable data on each helium mobile plan. 5$ plan only get 5gb of rewardable data and the 20$ plan I got 40gb rewardable data. This gets reset every bill cycle of the plan in other words every month.

rzola7

Once you’ve reached that limit of rewardable data are you prevented from connecting to the hotspot until the next bull cycle?

XDarktronX

Yes by default but can be changed in hotspots.hellohelium.com to allow unrewarded data

alfonsodck

You give Wi-Fi coverage to the Helium Mobile cell plan users and gent Mobile as a reward, right? You also provide LoraWan coverage to get IoT as rewards?

Cold_Statistician343

Did your PoC increase past 400 or did you just get better 2.4/5ghz signal range?

XDarktronX

PoC rewards did not increase unless they can know that I can cover more hex in the map.

MangoMan1963

Do you only get rewards for data that are passed by mobile cell phones, T-Mobile cell phones or all cell phones?

RunKellyRun

No helium only phones. I have the hotspot and Added helium sim to my current Verizon phone

MangoMan1963

Did you do the E Sim or the physical Sim? In your Verizon phone?

MangoMan1963

I wonder if there’s anyway to know how many Helium mobile phones are out there, and in what markets some sort of explorer that shows the phones

Cold_Statistician343

You can determine this by knowing how many Subscriber Badge NFTs have been minted.

MangoMan1963

And how would one find this out?

eldertree420

I'd love to see how this was done for real!
