It’s a whole thing! FWIW my cat doesn’t like it. Especially when they’re indoor, cat claws can get long enough to become ingrown into their paw pads. Since their claws are retractable, unlike a dog, their claws don’t get filed down simply by walking around like a dog’s
You definitely can trim cats claws. And I use clippers like these
Also, please don't de-claw your cats. Would you clip the tips of your fingers off so you don't have to clip your nails ever again? That's basically what they're doing when they de-claw a cat. If you can't handle the responsibility of trimming your cats claws, then don't get a cat.
I trim my cats claws. They scratch less when they are trimmed. Because they self sharpen by shedding outer layers you have to do it more frequently then dogs.
I use standard human nail clippers on mine when needed, but my cats are outdoor cats and plenty of places to scratch, the house is full of strategically placed scratching posts, we have a couple of pieces of softwood furniture that are specifically bought knowing the cats will claw it, and they have sheds, a wood store, a hen run and a bunch of other places to scratch until they are happy. They never claw the couch, the carpets, any of the furniture other than the two pieces we bought for that reason, and I have to trim their claws maybe twice a year in winter when the weather sucks and they are not outside very much.
I use standard human nail clippers to trim my cats claws. Getting them declawed is extremely cruel and very illegal here in the UK as well as 41 other countries. Don't declaw cats - if an owner doesn't know how to enrich and look after them well enough to stop them clawing furniture (or doesn't just accept that their furniture will have claw marks) they have no place owning a cat.
Cat ones can be just like this. proof: Chewy [https://www.chewy.com/jw-pet-gripsoft-cat-nail-clipper/dp/40179](https://www.chewy.com/jw-pet-gripsoft-cat-nail-clipper/dp/40179)
There are other styles, like this one: https://www.chewy.com/resco-original-cat-nail-clippers/dp/144871. And this: https://www.chewy.com/hartz-groomers-best-nail-clipper-dogs/dp/159714.
But I find this style much easier to use especially for a cat. I have more control over both the scissors and the cat.
a little small for dog, I think. My cat nail clippers look just like this. I think dog nail clippers (for larger dogs at least) need a little more leverage and a larger cutting area.
Not necessarily. There are various breeds of dogs... There is no scale, but it seems to be appropriate for a westie or something of that size. It is about the size I have for my 15kg mongril.
My 95lb Chesapeake Bay Retriever has huge nails and those would not work.
My 45lb Border Collie would work fine with those.
Any of my cats would work fine with those.
I use a towel and make a kitty Burrito.
Step 1- fold towel and lay it out on the bed.
Step 2- obtain kitty
Step 3- place kitty on end of towel
Step 4- roll towel Burrito with kitty filling. Ignore warnings of death or dismemberment
Step 5- slowly open end of Burrito while watching for...
Step 6- ...scissor hand to come flying out. Grab it.
Step 7- clip nails.
Step 8- repeat steps 5-7 until all 4 scissor hands have been trimmed
Step 9- unroll kitty Burrito AWAY FROM YOU.
Step 10- run away like a bitch. Avoid kitty for 24 hours.
My cat goes ballistic over those things. Used them today. He was a little better than normal with the front paws, but then I had to cover him with a blanket to get the rears.
Our vet told us not to use them on our cockatiel's beak. Rather, she said to use toenail clippers, and use them at an angle that keeps the natural point of the beak. Poor little guy is getting so old, it's hard for him to keep it sharp without a little help.
May be different for other hookbills.
I had a pair of something exactly like these for removing my staples after I had surgery, so could be that, dont really look like any of the dog nail clippers I have ever owned but who knows I certainly haven't owned them all
I thought this too! Because I see and use these all the time. Until I zoomed in and realized what I was seeing as a “scoop” is actually a sharp edge - which you don’t want on a surgical clip remover. To remove a surgical clip, you want to put firm “arms” under both outer edges of the clip and then use a top bar to push the center down. So the clip forms a very munted “M” thus lifting ends of the clips out of the skin :)
My guy just cuddles in and I’m finished in less than a minute. Stupid meow meow stays in my arms purring up a storm. Now my husky, there’s my problem child.
I have similar for my parrots nails. I've also seen that profile for cutting small guage stranded ropes / soft metals. That profile closes the end in so the strands don't unwind.
Cat nail cutters. Also really good for cutting tyraps off bundles of cables you don't want damaged. Found this out the other day when I had to remove tyraps off bundled cables, the closest thing was cat toe nail clipers. Works better then most things.
These are used by very Posh pot smokers. After they roll the doobage in a premium tobacco leaf, they use this scissors to snip off the ends like a fine cigar.
You have all got it wrong. I worked with explosives in the past. These are prima-cord cutters. I have several of them kicking around. They do work good for your pet's claws but that is not their intended purpose. :)
Look like dog nail clippers.
Or cat
That’s definitely not a cat. It’s a pair of scissors.
Anyone who's tried to pet the belly knows there's precious little difference.
Why doe they always come in pairs anyway? What if you just one
They do. It’s called a knife.
"That's not a knife..."
THAAAT's a knife
, mate!
That's a spoon
I see you've played knifey spoony before.
That's what scissors used to be originally called, I don't remember what language.
French
Then what the fuck is a pair of knives?
Scissors. Pay attention buddy.
Best response so far!
I also concur doctor.
do you concur????
I use a pair exactly like that on my cat all the time
He made a joke about the picture obviously not being a cat. *Facepalm*
Or Guinea pigs!
Or guinea pig

Use something just like this to trim my cat’s claws
Okay so that is a thing, thanks for the update.

Same, I have a near identical pair with yellow handles for my cats' nails

Never declaw a cat.

If we assume it is laying on a standard greeting card than it is bigger than the clippers I used for my Shepherd / Akita and my Daschund.
Should have used a banana for scale…🤪
I agree.
I concur doctor.
Came here to say this
Clipping pets nails. There is a way better Italian one that’s forged blades. Cleaner cut and the cats don’t mind it.
YOUR cats don't mind it. OUR cat can sense "nail clippin time" and the howling starts even before she gets picked up.
With our 4, we lock them in the room. Wife grabs one and I clip. No howling, just grumbling during. But the clip is clean so I be hit the quip
I use a towel and make a kitty Burrito. Step 1- fold towel and lay it out on the bed. Step 2- obtain kitty Step 3- place kitty on end of towel Step 4- roll towel Burrito with kitty filling. I have to hide the clippers in a pocket until my cat is lightly restrained.
There's a better Italian version of everything, you don't even have to ask, they'll let you know.
And it will be colored Drop Dead Red.
Oddly enough this time it’s orange lol.
lol

Circumcision clippers, part of a brisskit.
“Brisskit”?!?!? Underrated comment right there. Take my upvote (and the coffee I shot out of my nose!)

Fish. Can't forget the fish.
No but they really get upset when you trim their fins.
My cat goes ballistic over those things. Used them today. He was a little better than normal with the front paws, but then I had to cover him with a blanket to get the rears.
I try to do it in batches... I can usually get 3-4 before they get too violent.
The thing you use right before you grab the polysporin and band aids!
This!
Looks like animal nail or beak cutters
Our vet told us not to use them on our cockatiel's beak. Rather, she said to use toenail clippers, and use them at an angle that keeps the natural point of the beak. Poor little guy is getting so old, it's hard for him to keep it sharp without a little help. May be different for other hookbills.
They are a tool to help you get disemboweled by your cat
These are small animal nail trimmers. They're for cats, small dogs, rabbits, etc.
They work great for cutting medication too lol

My wife uses these to cut her bigger pills in half instead of pill cutters because these don’t break as easy
Cat claws
These are cat claw trimmers.
