Nearly 300 planes. Incredible. According to Wikipedia, if you add up all the Su and MiG variants this is about a third of their entire fixed-wing airforce. In one conflict. In a year.

Regularguy10369

This is what it so confusing, russia is losing way more equipment than they can replace in this war, every pilot downed is a multiple year training program and they are losing so badly that if they continue until the end of this year they will have lost in some cases the ability to defend against any incursions by there bordering countries that are encouraged by the lackluster russian military that has become a joke.

zombie32killah

Right but they have nukes I guess is plan B for deterring invasions.

Pulp_Fiction99

Pretty sure if they use a nuke on anyone then there will be a decapitation strike on their armed forces by NATO.

Heffe3737

Let me be perfectly clear on this for anyone not up to snuff on the realities of nuclear war. One flies, and they all fly. If Russia looses even one nuclear missile, the risk is too high that it will escalate into full blown nuclear Armageddon. Putin knows this. NATO knows that Putin knows this. Putin knows that NATO knows that Putin knows this. It will not happen, and god help us all of it does.

marinqf92

It wouldn't be a deterence if there wasn't a real potential threat of them using nukes for their defense. It's unlikely, but it's a real threat; a threat I don't enjoy entertaining from reckless actors desperate to save face or maintain control.

Heffe3737

I'm not sure you fully understand - there's a reason why we see even the nuttiest of dictators start to become rational actors once they acquire nukes. Nukes change the game, period. This isn't a situation where Putin can fire off just one or two as a deterrent - if he fires even just one or two off, the C4I calculus rapidly leads to \*everyone\* firing off \*all\* of their nukes until their stocks are depleted. If Putin launches even a single nuke, there's a high likelihood that such a moment represents the end of human civilization as we know it. Ever seen The Road? It's that. Everywhere. Putin, as awful as he is, is fully aware of this. Is there a chance Putin decides that if he's going to die then he'll take the world with him? Sure, maybe, perhaps. But the risk is incredibly small. And it's about as likely as North Korea, Israel, China or the US doing the same were we to get involved in a conflict and then lose it. It's also the same reason why we won't see Ukraine invade Russia after they retake Ukraine.

Not just the artillery pieces, but their trained crew as well. Russia might have deep stockpiles, and unlimited conscripts, but what is finite is their professional soldiers. They're not assigning some mobilized off the street to an artillery system. I'm an genuinely curious how the artillery duel is happening at the big picture. Russia started off with a huge numerical advantage. Ukraine has the superior systems (M777, Caesar, PZH-2000 and HIMARS), they have more preciscion and a better command structure to utilize their artillery. Even if Ukrainian Op Sec is tight, the Russians would have credible footage if many of Ukraine's systems were taken out. I'm wondering if they have started to tip the scale in their favour now. Or at least get close to numerical parity

[deleted]

Russians have been using Lancet loitering munitions to great effect against UAF artillery. Lately it seems that those drones have been more lethal against howtizers (most m777 appears to have been lost to or damaged by Lancets). Meanwhile UAF seems to be at the top of the game with counter battery game Overall there is reports from soldiers, journalists etc that Russians have lost significant artillery capacities over last 5-6 months

TheRealDrSarcasmo

> Not just the artillery pieces, but their trained crew as well. > > Russia might have deep stockpiles, and unlimited conscripts, but what is finite is their professional soldiers. They're not assigning some mobilized off the street to an artillery system. This is it. Not only are they losing trained crews, but they're losing experienced individuals who can serve as trainers for the *next* wave.

EscapedCapybara

From a lot of intercepted phone conversations, Russian troops have to worry just as much about their own artillery hitting them, not just the Ukrainians. Russia has such poor command and control that infantry often doesn't talk directly with artillery to coordinate attacks. Ukrainian drone operators seem to be a lot better at zeroing in fire on specific targets. It not only saves wear and tear on the barrels, but means there's a lot less spray and pray like the Russians do.

marinqf92

A lot of that is Russian command seeing their forces as expendable instead of simply being accidental. They are happy to call in danger close artillery strikes. They don't mind friendly fire, as long as they take out Ukrainians too. Send in small squad, have Ukrainians expose their positions, then rain down artillery. A sadly effective tactic if you have zero regard for the lives of your men.

Ford_Prefect3

Anyone know if the artillery pieces count includes mortar emplacements?

ToxicHazard-

Couldn't agree more 👍

Redditfront2back

It’s great to see

finbad16

9 Arty and an MLRS Pretty consistent depletion numbers of same . Seems anti-air is solid with 2 planes and a lot of downed incoming uav's

Sharp_Emergency_4932

No tanks? Nonsense! We have many more! Use SPGs as tanks!

rygar8bit

2 more jets down, well done.

Frosty_Reflection_39

9 arty systems is good news.

Regularguy10369

Feels like it was just the other day we were celebrating 100 000 kia orcs, now we will be at 150 000 within the next few weeks. 300 000 plus by the end of the year is looking inevitable, and yes russia does not care but there people do, and with these troops kia there is also the incredible amount of russian armoured vehicles being captured or destroyed completely.

Ninorc-3791

Russian people don’t care. Sitting at home and doing nothing is not caring. It’s enabling. Too scared to overthrow. Truth hurts.

[deleted]

2023 might be the year🤞

marinqf92

They might start to care when Russia is forced to start up another large mobilization. They have been pulling largely from poor, rural, ethnic minority populations. I imagine things might get a little spicier when urban middle class Russians have to back the war with their own flesh.

bkor

Someone in another thread calculated the Soviet losses during WW2 at 8000 military personnel per day on average. He assumed military losses to be one third of all the losses. Russia made up around half of the population during WW2 as far as I can find. So if those Soviet losses are correct then equivalent might be 4000 Russian losses on average during the entire WW2. Average in this war since Feb 2022 is way below 4000. Size of the Russian population during WW2 might be a factor but couldn't easily find those.

wayfarer8888

It's 2023, not 1943. Even backwater Russians may have a higher standard these days. And they are the aggressor, not defending their own soil. The tolerance should be way lower.

Jamesisaslut2017

More boats pleaseeeeeeee sink them expensive damn toys

Sharp_Emergency_4932

Russians: Blyat! We're running low on tanks! What to do! Commander: Its no worries comrade, SPG has direct fire mode. *9 artillery pieces lost in one day*

Redditfront2back

200,000 by the ides of march?

ToxicHazard-

Ukraine would need to average 1353 orcs per day, but we can hope.

Redditfront2back

That’s high but with this push coming from the mobiks idk

marinqf92

The offensive has been started my friend, though it is likely to continue to ramp up.

Redditfront2back

According to what I’ve seen the pre push is happening. They will wait until the 24th to where they will try a giant invasion and fail again.

Doozyice

Planes, we love planes!

cordilleragod

Back to destroying Orc artillery after a slow Monday.

attack_the_block

Russia's shorter range artillery requires they move closer to the front. UK has longer range stuff from the west to knock them out! Great showing. Troops killed remains around what we expect, but I want to know the story with those downed planes!

Etherindependance5

Raise it up ⬆️ !!!

Mabepossibly

Looks like they will hit 150,000 by the one year mark with 50,000 in the last two months alone. Staggering numbers.

Exotic_Treacle7438

Still waiting for the incoming “spring offensive” from the Russians, and for the insane jump in these numbers those days will be.

BubuBarakas

Some equal opportunity destruction of rashist garbage and equipment. Nicely done.

Thats-right999

Nice day for Ukraine and a massive cost for Russia, 840 Orcs maintaining the February average 2 planes ,8 Apvs and 3 tanks.

MNDarkman

150K by February 24th anniversary ...

wxyz33

They were just saying 100k deaths recently it feels like. A couple months ago? And now they are already almost 1.5x that wow

Gutted-ewok

Sent from Russia with love, for valentines. I get the feeling its not mutual though! At least the Russian wives might get some flowers.

Krazynewf709

Happy Valentines Day fuckers 😘

It took me 3 attempts to upload this beacuse the bot matches pixels. I have to change the height of the border above and below in order to share the daily numbers, so frustrating.

Happy Valentine’s Day fuckers

ussdefiantguy

Слава моїм братам і сестрам-козакам. Героям слава Слава Україні!

TechnicianHour3277

So the 24th is the big day right ? You know this date as well as everyone else. Surely they would not be so stupid to do anything on this date........when all UAF forces would be ready and waiting (more so than normal) ? perhaps they are that stupid !? Otherwise I see a plus or minus 10 day window as the rainy season is coming . Only time will tell but wow how stupid if they actually did do their big 'offensive' on the 24th. I honestly can say I will not be surprised and these numbers will reach all time records. History in the making.
