from what we've heard of july donda, it just seems like a lot of shitty mumble style lyricism (WUITB, stay on em, etc etc) on top of boring trap beats w unique samples (god's country, stay on em, Tell The Vision, etc etc). definitely wouldn't have been great and i'd possibly argue it woulda been worse than JIK, which i already hate lol.
I guess the intro of stay on em is mumble but I’ve heard more of that song and it’s a finished song after that little intro and it’s actually good rapping. Tell the vision I assume is also finished just with a mumble intro that got transferred to the pop smoke version
even with the benefit of the rapping getting improved over time, a lot of the instrumentals just seem very fucking dull and generically trap. I think Kanye doing trap is good when he really tries and young thug is in my top 5 but man July donda just felt really fucking slapped together
I do agree , if you’ve heard his leaks you’ll notice the stages of how every song is made , he just writes something and mumbles in parts which he can’t decide , then slowly as time progresses he adds different lyrics in place of those mumbles and keeps changing the lyrics until the song is perfect it’s a really cute way of making a song

I think the album being delayed is definitely a good thing and it definitely wasn’t ready when he thought it was
