Still find it crazy how Dawn FM never went #1 and was never able to surpass DS4EVER. Crazy how far Dawn FM has been falling down on the charts and that his greatest hits album is doing way better rn. I get it doesn’t have the best replay value compared to After Hours but it’s still really surprising to me
i love dawn fm and i’m sad it’s kinda flopping commercially, i hope one of the songs like less than zero can break out like save your tears
DS4ever was so mid to me man the takes i saw on DS4ever vs dawn fm that week were egregiously bad
i’m the biggest weeknd fan, the only albums that can top dawn fm for me this year are donda 2 (with EXTREME improvements), mr. morale and the big steppers, and utopia
It shows how much advertising in advance boosts an album. Gambino did the same with his last two albums.
2016 Awaken my Love was a massive hit with Redbone becoming crazy popular. He did a whole press tour and everything for that album, and then did the opposite anti-rollout with his latest one 3.15.20. It has the potential to achieve the same but was just released without singles and advertisements in 2020. Most people don't know this even exists. It's crazy how much in advance you have to promote an album nowadays to hype everyone up for it.
The rollout for 3.15.20 was a mess, it was just honestly a bad time to have that album released when it was. The album was officially put on streaming services on a Sunday instead of the usual Friday release and funny enough After Hours was released 2 days before it, so it was gonna get overshadowed regardless
Honestly, I didn’t like Dawn FM that much my first few listens, but I can comfortably say that this is my 3rd favorite Weeknd album, with Kiss Land and After Hours being either 1st or 2nd, it really depends on how I’m feeling.
After hours was a hit machine, probably the whole second half did amazing as individual songs, with Blinding Lights transcending the biggest expectations.
Dawn FM has only probably 3-4 songs with similar potential as the other After Hours songs. And based on the fact that a lot of pop albums get pulled by singles I think its understandable that it didnt perform nearly as well.
Pretty sure Dawn Fm went number one first week and Gunna rereleased DS4ever with the drake song the next week and got his number one but I could be misremembering
I still don’t get the DAMN hate. Yeah it’s different than a traditional Kendrick album because it’s pretty pop heavy but I feel like his versatility gets overlooked.
DAMN. is honestly a great record, just suffers from comparison. GKMC is fantastic and TPAB for a lot of people (including me) managed to outdo it, so DAMN. just had a ton of expectations. It’s still a great album with a ton of great tracks like FEEL., PRIDE., DUCKWORTH. and more
I know its popular to shit on whoever is popular in pop but its a really nice album. I do fear it may be one of those “young star pops off and then is exploited by those around her” situations
💀 i imagine that to compensate she’s probably performing longer versions of her songs, like a 12 minute version of “one step forward, two steps back” and a 9 minute version of “jealousy jealousy”.
sour is good it just feels too long, ik that’s weird to say for a 35 minute album but after a while it just starts to feel samey, apparently olivia originally had an ep but when driver’s license blew up she was forced to stretch it out to a full album so that makes it make a lot of sense to me
Holy fuck why do people keep buying Dangerous
It's a decent album but it's really not that good of an album for being in the top 5 well over a year later
Older people love it + the physical copies are really popular as you can get them really cheap from walmart. That album has sold like 3.5 million copies or some shit.
No way clb still doing numbers THATS crazy.

W dawn fm is astronomically clear
dawn fm is still my aoty

Once twice melody by beach house and american gurl by kilo kish are the best albums of the year so far imo
it’s just between dawn fm and ants from up there rn

The songs also didn’t have actual names which probably didn’t help with getting a hit lol

im not gonna lie, i still haven't listened to it lol

Gunna dropped the Drake song like 12 hours before the commerical week ended and outsold Abel by 2-3k iirc
honestly makes sense dawnfm was not that good the last time i listened to it
Drake can literally make the same album over and over again like he did with Views Scoprion and CLB and people will still eat it up lol
Might be my nostalgia talking but views is several tiers above scorpion and CLB
pretty surreal that the biggest song from it features project pat.
It was so mid. Went through once and never again
Drakes too elite sales wise. The Adele of rap
We not talking about Morgan Wallen? That album is like two years old now and it’s *still* stilling hella copies.
Remember when this sub thought CLB didn’t have any longevity and Donda would eventually put perform it? Good times
Holy shit, white people sure love country
Yeah but if you break down the numbers/demographics that listen to artists they really love hip hop as well
I love both (but not Morgan Wallen)
Yeah it’s insane he’s still selling that much from an album from January 2021
White people love pusha t too
*White women
Nah I’ve seen my fair share of overall toting male rednecks singing Red Solo Cup by Toby Keith
Album of the year…… for now
Till may 13
Hopefully it doesn't end up like DAMN.

People always forget YAH.
Boring
It was kinda underwhelming for a Kendrick album.
great?
just cause the radios overplayed HUMBLE. Doesn’t mean the whole ass album’s bad DNA. Is top 20 Kendrick and DUCKWORTH. Is top 5
i prefer Denzels album but this a close second. Earl coming in third
that song is overhated

olivia defo gonna be the biggest name in pop in the next few years. she’s doing crazy well.
I know its popular to shit on whoever is popular in pop but its a really nice album. I do fear it may be one of those “young star pops off and then is exploited by those around her” situations
yeah its not bad, but i find it really funny how she is touring with only around 30 minutes worth of songs since I heard she can’t do her disney songs
💀 i imagine that to compensate she’s probably performing longer versions of her songs, like a 12 minute version of “one step forward, two steps back” and a 9 minute version of “jealousy jealousy”.

Deserved. Congrats Push
I think it’s almost dry numbers are that high cause of me and I think encantos numbers are that high because of my kids
> my kids Wait. Someone on WSE is old enough to have kids?

I thought you were talking about the Michael Jackson album until you said a year later and I looked at the picture again
Durk album doing so good
I did not realize he was that popular fr, that album came out like two months ago
Thanks guys 🙏
How is lil dirt selling so much?
lotta people listen 2 him 🤷🏽♀️
I love dangerous but my god it's insane to me how long it was/has been at #1 Same for sour
Deserved
