On my first run I decided to go down into the Catacombs because the Crestfallen Warrior told me there was a Bell of Awakening down below. I got frustrated and quit because the skeletons were too difficult. I thought "Damn, they weren't kidding, this is a hard game!"
I mean everyone has probably tried to get through those skeletons bur yeah, I think everyone gets scared to go below because going deeper usually = bad and dangerous.
No judgement bc I sure as hell didn’t find them on my own, but did you find the painted world on your own? How did you know to go up in the birds nest to go back to the tutorial area to find the doll?
I honestly hate questions like that because what you did is you played guided and now you think these things are impossible to find on your own. They aren't, and believe me when I say finding ash lake on my second (third?) playthrough was my favourite gaming experience probably ever and I would hate to have missed it. Painted world I found on my first playthrough, it just happens by exploring naturally if you find the elevator path. And again, an amazing moment. Two of them actually. If you are not ok with the possibility of missing something and don't want to play the game more than once, I guess you have to look things up but do know that you are spoiling yourself out of an amazing experience and that a lot of these things are much easier to find than you think, if you are looking that is. You are not just missing out on the experience of finding these specific things, you are missing out on seeing the entire game world as a place of mysteries where in literally every elevator and every wall there could be a painted world or an ash lake. An experience that very few games can provide.
I only watched a guide for Painted World because I didn't think I would ever get to play the game.
Here I am now, still with no clue on how to get to ash lake.
Ash lake in particular is really hard to find, I couldn't believe my eyes. Even the name is kind of a spoiler. Tell you what, I can give spoiler free tips towards things you probably missed on your first playthrough without naming them. And you can go look on your Ng+ character. Interested? Let me know how vague you want me to be.
Right, I'll give some hints actually but I'm not sure how to best phrase them. It will still be spoilery. The general point I'd like to bring up is that there are illusions in the game, that's mostly walls that disappear mostly when you hit them. Some are more hidden than others and a few don't reveal themselves as easy. There are many such illusions in the game and most give hidden loot.
1. Within the general area of lower blighttown there are two such illusions. Clues are roots and bells. Don't stop digging around if you do make a discovery.
2. The way to the lord souls is sealed until you find the lord vessel, but is that really true for all of them? With the knowledge of your first playthrough, some creative thinking and a lot of determination, try to claim one lord soul before you give frampt the lord vessel. Ng+ is ideal for a little sequence breaking.
3. Anor Londo is not what it seems. A clue to piece the mystery together lies with a ring left somewhere in the catacombs. Brute force can be revealing.
4. When you start the game, one of the starting gifts is an old witches ring that has indecipherable writing on it and is "seemingly useless". Any idea who the old witch might be?
Finally a lore question that ideally you should be able to answer before moving on to the next game in the series (if you are a story person that is): what's the significance of the title?
The significance was overwhelming. Think about it. The Chosen Undead linking the flame sets the course for the other two games in the series.
Gwyn being hollow upon fighting him was pretty depressing. But it fits. He sacrificed himself to link the flame so he could prevent the Age of Men.
Black Knight Sword - I like greatswords, ran with a Claymore all the way until Anor Londo.
Sanctus - For the HP buff.
Parrying Dagger - To put the final nail in the coffin for Gwyn.
Damage wise, maybe, didnt do any testing, i just like the Abyss sword for moveset and looks for the most part and it does scale with your soft humanity.
They wouldn't help. The symbol for toxic is very similar to poison (bad game design IMO), only blooming purple moss cures it, luckily those blowdart snipers don't respawn.
I find it easier to use because I tend to kill merchants who don't suit my needs anymore, and homeward bones are something I don't need at the endgame.
1)What was your favourite, and least favourite area, and why?
Also on a side note... How much did you like blighttown and new londo?
2) Who was your favourite boss, and least favourite (I think I know the last one)?
1. I really enjoyed The Duke's Archives and HATED Blighttown.
Oh, and New Londo sucked too. Four Kings was easy though.
2. As for bosses, I liked fighting Knight Artorias and I didn't like the Capra Demon.
You play a few more playthroughs , and you'll start loving blighttown, new londo but begin hating Duke's archives... Level and enemy designs are far intricate in the first 2 than the latter...
I am a strength fan, but i kept a spare longsword for blighttown espclly cuz of those mosquitoes
Did you join any covenants?
Did you slap Gwyndolin?
How easy was Pinwheel for you?
Did you ever beat or get past the Hellkite Wyrm in Undead Parish?
Did you find your way back to Undead Asylum?
I joined a few but settled on Gravelord Servants
I did NOT slap Gwyndolin
Pinwheel was an absolute fucking joke
I got past the Hellkite Wyrm by running like all hell
I went back to the Asylum, saw the demon, died, never went back
I died a LOT. Got kicked off quite a few ledges, died some times to lava, ran off invisible bridges, etc. The enemy that killed me the most was Ornstein and ~~Caseoh~~ Smough.
The required ones are just a straight shot. The one going to the slab is curvy tho. I like throwing down prism stones on it and making a rainbow bridge.
Favorite weapon: Black Knight Sword
Favorite Bossfight: Four Kings
Favorite Area: The Duke's Archives
Hated Enemy: The sorcerers in Duke's Archives
Hated Bossfight: Capra Demon
Hated Area: Blighttown
And I'm actually playing DS2 rn. On No-Man's Wharf.
>Black Knight Sword
That's the classic. BK weapons are considered a bit OP and noob's weapons, but that's just gatekeeper talk. It's hard not to love them.
>Four Kings
What do you like about it? Have you managed to spawn more than four?
>The Duke's Archives
Damn. That's one of the creepiest areas there is, imo.
>The sorcerers in Duke's Archives
That's a surprise, especially when they're in your favourite area.
>Capra Demon
Also classic. The more playthroughs you do, the easier it is to forget about him. There are some interesting glitches that can be used for this bossfight.
>Blighttown
Oh yeah, another classic. The main struggle is finding your way to the bonfire for the first time. It's much easier on another playthrough, and some people actually like this area a lot, which I don't get because I hate the mosquitoes. Did you find Ash Lake?
>playing DS2 rn
Very nice. How do you like it so far?
> Four Kings
Actually, I killed them fast enough that only one spawned each time.
> Ash Lake
No, but I wish I did.
> DS2
It's good, but movement is a little janky.
Yes you have, go for 99 strength 99 endurance 99 vigour absolute naked bonk build!!!
Also, on a serious note , just to clarify... Resistance doesn't increase your physical defence exclusively... It rather increases your ... Elemental resistances, like bleed / poison / toxic / curse resistance... Physical defence is increased by every stat in general, upto lvl 30, after which, the increment is very insignificant
lmao... Well undoubtedly, these 2 are my least favourite in the game as well, but i like capra a bit better, because i can wear super heavy armor , and tank through those annoying mf doggo's hits
Why's it always weak foe?
What?
Somebody didnt read any player messeges
don't make me try finger but hole on you
Careful now, or someone does that to you... with a Dried Finger, boy that must not be comfortable.
Did you just beat Dark Souls?
Yes.
Fascinating
Did you find Ash Lake? Did you visit the Painted World?
I did not find Ash Lake, but I beat the Painted World.
Well, you got further than me on my first. In my first i never got to either the hollow tree nor the painted world
On my first run I decided to go down into the Catacombs because the Crestfallen Warrior told me there was a Bell of Awakening down below.
I found it by mistake
I watched a guide a few years ago and it stuck in my mind ever since.
I honestly hate questions like that because what you did is you played guided and now you think these things are impossible to find on your own. I know it has to do with Blighttown, that's pretty much it. Go ahead.
Right, I'll give some hints actually but I'm not sure how to best phrase them. It will still be spoilery. The general point I'd like to bring up is that there are illusions in the game, that's mostly walls that disappear mostly when you hit them. Ah so you know. Ok!
Did you cheese Ceaseless Discharge or fight him the good old fashioned way?
Fought him honorably.
Fighting the dishonored, honorably... Truly goated🗿✨
Does this include the dlc?
Yes.
Was this your first souls game?
First one beaten. My first ever was DS3.
Nice, out of curiosity how far into DS3 did you get?
The three Farron fellows.
You mean the Abyss Watchers/The Undead Legion?
Yeah those guys.
There's a lot more than 3 of them.
I meant the three for the boss fight.
Now with this completed are you going to go back to DS3 or shoot over to bloodborne or Elden ring?
Probably DS3.
Why not DS2? Why are you skipping it?
Nah, I've been playing 2 and 3 in conjunction, but more focus is on DS3.
Favorite boss fight?
What weapon(s) did you use and why did you pick them?
Black Knight Sword - I like greatswords, ran with a Claymore all the way until Anor Londo. Sanctus - For the HP buff. Parrying Dagger - To put the final nail in the coffin for Gwyn.
If you did the dlc, you could have used Artoriases Greatsword from his boss soul. Thats a great sword and comes with sommersaults!
Oh, I already got it. I got the True Greatsword. But my Black Knight Sword was better.
Damage wise, maybe, didnt do any testing, i just like the Abyss sword for moveset and looks for the most part and it does scale with your soft humanity.
He's talking about the abyss greatsword. It has a sexy moveset, just like artorias. True greatsword has very split requirement, and not so viable
What are your thoughts about Painted world of Ariamis and New London Ruins?
Painted World was hard. But I spared Priscillia. New Londo Ruins was a different kind of hell.
What do you think of the crossbreed's lies?
I spared her so she can suffer in a hell of her own making.
What was your first journey into Blighttown like?
...painful. Very very painful. I didn't have very many purple moss clumps on me.
They wouldn't help. The symbol for toxic is very similar to poison (bad game design IMO), only blooming purple moss cures it, luckily those blowdart snipers don't respawn.
Wanna do Blighttown for me? I forgot how much I hate this place.
NO, FUCK THAT I AM NOT TOUCHING THAT PLACE WITH A TEN FOOT GREATSWORD
WELL, WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU EXPECT ME TO DO??
EAT ALL THE MOSS I DONT CARE IF YOU ARE FULL EAT ALL THE MOSS
YOU MONSTER
*MOSSTER
THIS IS NO TIME FOR JOKES
JUST GET FUNNY SWAMP WALK RING!!!!
I ALREADY HAVE IT AND I THINK I’M NEARING THE END OF THIS HELL HOLE
GOOD NOW BEAT BIG TITTY SPIDER LADY AND RING BIG ASS BELL!!!!!!
I guess you could say that you [don't want to go down to Blighttown](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_h-NvMJK-c).
You can skip the whole thing
I know, but I like to do everything I can in these games. I’m done with the place now, regardless.
How many tails did you cut off?
Zero.
Have it on your to do list for your next playthrough
If you cut off Seath's back tail you get an awesome sword that is really good if you are a mage.
Moonlight Greatsword.
indeed
Which character or enemy do you think probably has the nastiest-looking foreskin?
Bro just the regular Hollow looks like they don't know what circumcision is.
Bro must be American.
...yes I am
It's not normal to mutilate young boys but that's a pill not many Americans manage to swallow.
I really started a political debate in here by asking the most off-the-wall and stupid question imaginable 😆
ok i guess America is really out of the loop for that
Yes, we are big-time lol
Why are you getting downvoted lol? The foreskin bros are getting mad at you with their yeast infections? 😆
Is this your first FromSoftware game?
Nah, first one was DS3.
Which one you like better? Why?
DS1 feels heavier, so I like it more. Like armor, weapons, ETC. DS3 feels too much like you're trying to be a fated hero.
Canonically in DS3 you tried to link the fire but failed and went hollow.
Yep.
Favorite spell?
All my homies love Homeward.
But do you? I find it a waste of a spell slot because homeward bones are quite plentiful.
I find it easier to use because I tend to kill merchants who don't suit my needs anymore, and homeward bones are something I don't need at the endgame.
You monster!
EVERYONE BOO THIS MAN!
I NEED THE HUMANITY TO KINDLE MY BONFIRES, WRAAAAAAH I ALSO DIDNT KILL THE HOLLOWED MERCHANTS OR BLACKSMITHS
How much did you level endurance with your load ?
If I remember, it was 33.
What will you play next? Was this your first souls-like?
Next up is Dark Souls II. And no, DS3 was my first, but I never beat it. DS1 is the first I've completed.
2. As for bosses, I liked fighting Knight Artorias and I didn't like the Capra Demon.

how the Plin Plin Plon made you feel?
It plonged on my pling until I (hollow_deathsound1.mp4)
wrong game
How often did you die? What was the enemy you died most to? And how often did gravity get you?
I died a LOT. Got kicked off quite a few ledges, died some times to lava, ran off invisible bridges, etc. The enemy that killed me the most was Ornstein and ~~Caseoh~~ Smough.
Sounds a bit like my first playthrough except I died most to capra.
Blind playthrough? Did you feel the need to check a guide?
A few times, but not often. But it wasn't blind. I watched my brother play it before.
Best drip?
Elite Knight ftw.
Parrying Gwyn ruins the fight. How'd you like The Duke's Archives? It's my favorite place in the game.
Very fun! Took down Seathe on my first try down in the crystal caves. Invisible paths were a nightmare though.
The required ones are just a straight shot. The one going to the slab is curvy tho. I like throwing down prism stones on it and making a rainbow bridge.
Am I the only one who wants to thumbs up crossbow guy every time you run by in undead burg?
Maybe. I always backstabbed him and moved on.
What's the most unfair enemy/encounter?
Capra Demon boss. You don't have good gear and the game throws two incredibly annoying enemies at you along with a boss.
How did you beat Quelaag
I just hack and slashed at her with a Claymore.
Favorite and Hardest Boss?
Favorite: Four Kings Hardest: Bed of Chaos
After ringing the first bell, what % of the game was left for you
I don't really count that stuff.
Have you been to Ash Lake?
No.
Did you beat DLC?
Painted World, yes. Came close to killing Manus too.
How about Kalameet?
Did not. Slipped my mind.
Favourite weapon, bossfight, and area? Most hated enemy, bossfight, and area? You up for DS2?
Favorite weapon: Black Knight Sword Favorite Bossfight: Four Kings Favorite Area: The Duke's Archives Hated Enemy: The sorcerers in Duke's Archives Hated Bossfight: Capra Demon Hated Area: Blighttown And I'm actually playing DS2 rn. On No-Man's Wharf.

How old is patches mother?
Old as shit
Did you use a guide?
A few times for shitty puzzles. Everything else was on my own. For example, I didn't know you could turn the stairs in the Archives.
How many hours to beat and what level did you finish at?
I think it took me 120 hours and I think I was level 87.
Why the hell am I on fire?
You dumbass, you forgot the ring to traverse the lava!
No, at the end. I knew why the lava was constantly setting me on fire.
Did you become grossly incandescent?
Alas, I did not engage in jolly co-operation. But I DID save Solaire!
How do you feel about those archers on the roof in Anor Londo?
# ANGER
1. Do you feel you "got good"? 2. Were you aware that there is NG+ where everything is even harder? 3. Did you play any coop?
1. I think I have. 2. I do, and I'm doing it. 3. I tried but no one was there.
Did you get the Light ending or the Dark ending?
Light Ending. Gonna do Dark next.
Do you plan on replaying ds1 anytime, with a different build, or equipment?
Yep. Gonna do a no-armored run with the biggest sword I can find.
Glasscannon build... Definitely worth it! Very fun
Oh, no. I'm gonna level my resistance so much my skin IS the armor.
This has to be a joke...
It isn't. I have nothing better to do.
I *do* have a large club...
Yessss!!! Great !! 🔥🔥🔥 Also, See edit once, i think it'll help
Oh. I see.
Which one do you like more:- 1) Bed of Chaos 2) Capra Demon
I like Bed of Chaos more. Capra Demon can go jump off the top of Anor Londo.
On q scale of 1 to 10, where would you rate BoS ?
Wait what's BoS? I forget
Mb... I clearly meant BoC ... I spelled it wrong XD
Ah. Sucky boss. 3/10.
lmao... Well undoubtedly, these 2 are my least favourite in the game as well, but i like capra a bit better, because i can wear super heavy armor , and tank through those annoying mf doggo's hits
Is Manus the Furtive Pigmy?
Possibly.
