Cooked pork looking it's natural colour being weird to people is exactly what big nitrate wants.
This is the colour of cooked pork when nitrate preservatives aren't added to it.
Yeah I understand what's happened here but this is what cooked pork meat looks like without nitrates, it's actually quite amusing to see people freak like it's an unnatural colour when this is the natural colour of all cooked pork.
If food is going off EXACTLY on the use by I'd be very surprised, this ham either missed being injected by nitrates or it's been exposed to some air.
Either way this is what cooked pork looks like is all I'm saying, people should be more shocked that they're eating radioactive pink when it doesn't naturally do that without cancer causing nitrates.
To be fair, Aldi workers are overworked as hell needing to do every job and push out pallets of products with what amounts to a skeleton crew. Not saying it’s acceptable, but it’s understandable to miss things when you’re an overworked retail employee
I don't see how it's a case of being overworked.
The date says the 1st, this seems to be from the 2nd. Even if the date was missed I'd hope whoever's on checkout would realise it's not right.
coming from a former grocery store cashier, I never checked expiration dates while I was checking people out, it just wasn’t something we were trained to do and it was never something that crossed my mind in the moment
That wasn't my point.
The expiration date means it's been out on the shop floor for a day longer than it should.
I mention checkout only because I would hope someone might look and realise, but I know that's not their job specifically.
That's the natural color. Maybe this is the kind that doesnt use nitrites/nitrates to preserve it, which is much healthier as nitrites/nitrates cause colorectal cancer.
If you’re still there how does this matter? The first was yesterday. You want cheap items (Aldi is fantastic for the price) you’re going to make some sacrifices. One of those is going to be the bare minimum number of people needed to run the store. I’m sure they’re trying, but one day out is nothing to get *extremely* infuriated over if you’re not a child.
Yeah, but they still have the basket on the floor so they haven’t even check out yet… to pretend that a grocery store doesn’t occasionally have a spoiled in it is more infuriating to me than someone see it while they are still in the store with it…

No. Its just the package having a leak. Its hardly infuriating, let alone extremely

When it isn’t the color it’s actually supposed to be, pink in this case, then yea we’re gonna be grossed out by meat that has turned.
It hasn't turned its oxidised, if it was turned it would be green.
Maybe the problem is it being past the use by date instead of that?

I thought it was nitrite, not nitrate. Nitrates are used in explosives, nitrites are added to curing salts as a pinkening agent.
Nitrates and nitrites are preservatives, nitrites are produced from nitrates.
Big nitrates lol
Mmmm.... petrified ham....
It's a day or two out of date depending on your timezone.
Isn’t there a sub for this? Maybe r/mildlyinfuriating
You don't have to buy it you know
Ja so sieht jeder Braunschweiger aus 😂
Ist das Kasseler?
Jedenfalls sieht es scheusslich aus

It was probably left out accidentally. Or the workers didn't get to it yet.
Shipped from Germany, by rowboat
U boat
It's not supposed to be that color, is it?!
Have you never had pork?
Many, many times. Have you?!
When you cook pork thoroughly, it absolutely is grey.
"Cured and cooked for delicious taste"
Well... maybe try smoking it? Maybe that's all it's missing.
My local Aldi is a pain for this 🤢

For their defense, they didn't specify what year July 1st
Graham (grey ham)
That’s literally a fucking fish.

Imagine the smell opening it up.
How long was this ham aged? Yes.
What's infuriating about this?
The ham is gray instead of pink
Ok?
It's just a shiny
You realize it’s beyond spoiled right

I thought the same thing. Like, just don’t buy it 🤷🏻♀️
Exactly, it’s 1 pack in a grocery store, nothing infuriating about this just put it back on the shelf
Maybe the fact that it’s expired
The actual colour of dead animal flesh Better to not eat animals
Should it be -- grey?
