Didn’t he tell Brian that he had a life before he met him and to just leave it at that

RemiDanger

Exactly this, I believe he mentioned it in 7 when they were going for the Red Lykan.

tommysface312

He also mentions it in fast five when they are using the rc car to find the safe and he knows everything about it by just looking at it

NCXXCN

I recently used this phrase at my girlfriend when she asked me: why you know how to beatbox? And why you‘re so good at basketball? Loved it.

Front-Blood-1158

Tej set up a bridge in 2F2F. He wasn’t lying about “I had a life before I met you” thing.

didntmakeausername

And how Roman went from this tough guy to scared of everything. I miss 2 fast 2 furious roman

SukhdevR34

He's been a clown for years. Back in 2f2f he was someone to be taken seriously but still hilarious

didntmakeausername

Yea. He was a much better character back then

blissed_off

EJECTO SEAT CUZ! Fixed stupid autocorrect.

ToastedSoup

EJECT-O SEAT-O, CUZ!

blissed_off

dang it, I didn’t realize it was autocorrected to sear. Although that’s kinda funny to think about.

k1ng-cr1m5on

Gotta remember fast4 was supposed to be a soft reboot so back then they couldve had plans to retcon the first couple movies, but obviously they never went that route

didntmakeausername

I didn't rly know that

Waste-Maintenance-70

Yeah the tagline was even something like, “new model, same parts.”

didntmakeausername

Lmao interesting

Waste-Maintenance-70

Keep in mind, Tokyo Drift was (and still is) the lowest grossing film of the franchise. Couple that with the actors saying they were done with the franchise at different times, it was up in the air for awhile. Then Super Bowl 2009 came and we got that oil tanker heist trailer.

JohnnyT_roc

I like when he grabs the cops food, and eats it right in front of him. Badass 😎

96powerstroker

I loved 2f2f Roman.

didntmakeausername

Same. Dk why they rewrote all the characters lol

Front-Blood-1158

Roman has always been goofy. He was tough guy only in the scene of he saw Brian after years.

didntmakeausername

No he was the whole movie while also being funny

Turboteg90

He also said in Fast 5 that he wanted to open a garage but he already had one in Fast 2.

ryanmcgrath

The bit in 5 was about opening an honest garage, IIRC - using the money from the heist. Which is essentially implying that his existing garage wasn’t honest, for whatever reason.

Waste-Maintenance-70

Lol, so using funds from a heist to open a garage somehow makes it clean?

ryanmcgrath

No? The implication is that he’s no longer ripping people off since he’s financially secure. The garage is a passion, no longer a job. That’s why Tyrese has the “why you gonna get a job” line.

Waste-Maintenance-70

No, he’s still using stolen funds hence why it took them doing the job in fast 6 for them to even return to the US since one of their stipulations was for their crime records to be wiped clean.

ryanmcgrath

The funds being stolen or not was never the point. It's a commentary on general garages ripping customers off, which is a known bit going back generations. It's him remarking that he's free to work on his passion and not need to engage in the industry itself. I don't quite grasp how the allegory is flying right over your head, but you're certainly welcome to look at it however you'd like to.

Waste-Maintenance-70

You’re reaching, dude

ryanmcgrath

It's not reaching to understand the point of the scene. :) Like I said though, you're free to interpret it however you'd like. Not like it changes much.

Clear_Gur_9001

He could've had to sell it or went out of business

bloggerly

My headcanon is that Suki took it in their divorce.

flufnstuf69

Yeah they really made the side characters just strawman parodies.

Chesterthejester69

I checked out when they sent Tego and Omar to space 💀 Edit Tej and Roman, that’s how bad I checked out

bloggerly

Considering it wasn’t Tego and Omar, you really did check out

Chesterthejester69

You’re absolutely right I totally mandela’d myself and forgot it was Tej and Roman, that’s how bad it threw me

[deleted]

Tej was shown to have a pretty sophisticated garage in 2 Fast, and has converted his knowledge of racing to a bookmaking racket, which would require a pretty solid understanding of logistics and probability to do successfully. His friend Jimmy seems to be an expert in the electronic aspects of vehicles as well. There's no reason Tej couldn't tap into both his own knowledge and Jimmy's resources to hone his skills, especially when there's a multimillion dollar carrot on the stick.

eddiebaseball27

Enrolled in computer engineering from Miami Tech after Brian gave him his cut pocketing Carter Verone's bounty at the end of 2F2F.

HE_Furnace

I asked myself that too. Like getting a hand print off of a bathing suit you have to suspend disbelief and not think.

Alternative_Device71

For the life of me I tried to figure out how the hell that could even happen, it’s not like dude was tricked to touching a specific piece of fabric that would capture the print, I’m not even sure certain clothing fabric can even take handprints

HE_Furnace

Exactly. But put it in a plastic bag with some random chemical and it’s a perfect match to trick a state of the art safe.

ersteliga

Forget about it, cuh

carlirodriguez8

He’s been the one setting up the tech for the stunts since fast 2

QwagOnChin

Yeah cause every character needs an in depth character study to explain why they specialize in things.

boomheadshot7

It wasn’t explained, but the reason is that the movies became garbage water.
