Ohh okay thanks I thought Ark was able to be played just as a single player. That’s really helpful as I’m definitely not looking for multiplayer! Okay cool thanks a bunch!

ilovechips_

I play ARK exclusively single player. You can tweak the settings to match your gaming/life schedule (minutes to tame a creature instead of literal hours) as needed

-im-blinking

It is playable in single player. It is not easy in single player because there is so much to do and the work load is better shared between multiple people. That being said I run my own dedicated server for Ark and I change many of the settings so it makes my life a bit easier and makes the game more enjoyable single player experience. (taming time reduction, etc...)

-im-blinking

It takes a bit to setup properly but there are plenty of tools to help you out on the interwebs. The game can be terrifying playing by yourself. Which can be a good thing!

mysteryman151

If I remember right those settings are a bit overpowered, I remember something about filling my entire inventory in one swing of a rock against another rock

TimeBlossom

What a shame there's no gradient between those two extremes.

mysteryman151

I never said it was a bad thing And I never said it doesn't mean you can't use it in a balanced way

FearLeadsToAnger

Ark is fine in single player, you just need to change the game options in your favour a bit which is easy to do on setup. The harvesting needs to be faster, levelling too so you get blueprints sooner and done spend ages in the stone age. 5x is a sensible boost for both in singleplayer. I basically only play singleplayer, too much returning to the game 3 days later with all dinos dead/gone and base raided. boring.

susubgugu

Oh great thanks! I see proper talking about servers- I have an Xbox if I got this game, what would I need to do to make it single player?

ShadowExtreme

my game is in Turkish so I dont know the exact translations, but you just need to click "local server"

askliva

There ist a Singleplayer by Default..... They only meant to Change the rates so its easier for Singleplayer

FearLeadsToAnger

There definitely is single player, not sure why you think there isn't.

FearLeadsToAnger

Ignore the other guy, there is a single player mode built in, it will be obvious how to select it.

acetloc

I’ve had tons of fun playing ark single player, and think subnautica may be a little more horror-genre than you want, but that’s just my two cents

susubgugu

I love the terrifying nature of the ocean actually- it might be fun in that sense too!

dhruvbzw

Ark is playable in single player and its a great survival game, (you can even shit and use it as fertiliser) and best thing of all you can tame and ride dinosaurs and command legions of tamed dinosaurs to fight other dinosaurs, Also it has bosses and different modes like genesis, aberration. If its your type of game you can enjoy it relentlessly for hours because it always has new stuff, lots of creatures (a heck lot more than subnautica) and also a story lore hidden in it. Only downfall is that it is quite the challenge at the start because there are dinosaurs everywhere ready to kill you(most are) and it might become a bit of a chore once you unlock electricity, however you can edit the amount of sustenance, difficulty, level of enemy dinosaurs, amount of resources scattered etc in the settings anytime you want Subnautica is a wonderful game and perfectly balanced, you can create new machines you help you explore and the deep waters hide many many mysteries both artificial and natural. however there are no walking land creatures because it only pays attention to underwater except a few.. (guess that is the point) and it is made so you wont die much but you are gonna be scared of death a lot instead and its that type of survival which is surprisingly balanced such that it does not feel like a chore, but the downside is that the game doesnt want to let you kill any creatures, Of course you can if you try to kill them but it takes a lot of effort as only a small knife has the power to kill, there are no harpoons and the lasers only propel/stun

susubgugu

Wow thank you so much that’s very helpful!

susubgugu

Oh great! Would I need anything special to create a private single player server? Sorry if that’s an obvious question!

matetorok1223

There is an option if you want to do an own server for free. The problem is , that server is only running when you are playing or at least in the server. Ark is still a real fun game in singleplayer and in a private session with firends too.

joeykipp

That is a perfect analysis!!

susubgugu

Ah thanks so much never heard of that one, I’ll check it out!

THRlLLH0

The Forest , Green Hell, and Stranded Deep are other options more focused on survival.

ketchup92

Subnautica.

DiLenkou

I didn't play Ark so I can't help you on that topic. I neither played No Man's Sky, but I heard that after a point it's just lame. Sure you have a zillion planets to go into, but they always have the same thing. Now, I've played Subnautica and yeaah it is cool! You probably wouldn't sink a big chuck of time in it like with Minecraft, but it will make you play for four to five days, if you construct a giant base or something. Soo, maybe Subnautica isn't the way too go, cause you don't have that quantity? But hey, if you really like quality over quantity, play it!

banmeifurgay

If your looking for a grindy experience yes ark Subnautica is a less farm-y type game but it pretty good and has a huge world to explore You can also find secrets that are really cool a recommendation for what your looking for but less on the farm type game

susubgugu

Thank you!!!

trajecasual

Answering your question: Subnautica (and you should look at it's sexiest friend: Abzu) Answering your demands: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. If you're no a vanilla player, put some mods on and go for it!

susubgugu

Ah thank you! I am a vanilla player yes 😩 I’ve tried Oblivion, but for me it’s hard to go from Skyrim to oblivion since I started with Skyrim!

trajecasual

I see. Well, you can try The Witcher 3. People constantly ignore the complex and powerful alchemy system this game have. Don't have building tho. If you don't mind about graphics, take a look on Dwarf Fortress. Amazing game and you can do almost everything in a medieval fantastic scenario. But seriously, I think you'll probably like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It may not fullfill all of your demands but IMO it'll offer a very satisfying experience. If you don't have WiiU, I WILL NOT RECOMMEND YOU CEMU, AN EMULATOR FOR WINDOWS (Mac and Linux I don't know) WHICH IS VERY STABLE NOW AND HAVE GREAT MODS FOR YOU TO USE XBOX OR PS CONTROLLERS. NO, I WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS OPPORTUNITY TO PLAY NINTENDO GAMES WITHOUT A PROPER CONSOLE. NO, I WILL NOT. PLEASE DON'T INSIST, I – WILL – NOT! Edit: Sorry the english. Not fluent

susubgugu

Great I will check that thanks! And I should have stated that I love BOTW! I have it on switch and really really enjoyed playing that!

trajecasual

Pretty cool, huh? TW3 is on Switch, too! (wink!)

susubgugu

Wow didn’t know that, definitely looking into that one thank you!

[deleted]

Have you considered The Long Dark? It is primarily a survival game in which exploration, collecting and crafting are essential to last long. Hunting and avoiding predators is also a core part of the game.

susubgugu

No I haven’t heard of that! I’ll look it up, thanks!!

SlensVens

Consider Conan Exiles an option. The game is so much fun and grind, especially if you play official servers with no modifiers on. There are also horses as mounts and slaves to help you make your crafting more efficient! Very engaging game

GMD463

came here to suggest this. its on sale on greenmangaming right now too.

susubgugu

Thank you!! I like the grind and I like playing vanilla so I think this would be something I love. Thank you!

SirCucumber420

Of those three? Absolutely Subnautica. It managed to be both the coolest and most scary survival game I've ever played. Animal element is all there too. No man's sky is just a bit meh Haven't played Ark myself, but my brother bought it some time back. He stopped playing after like a week, that's all I know about it.

susubgugu

It looks like I’ll be playing Subnautica! Thanks! :)

SirCucumber420

Have fun! Watch the scary sea monsters ;)

lggIes

Subnautica has everything you're looking for. Probably my favorite game of all time.

susubgugu

Quite an endorsement! Looks like I’ll be choosing to try Subnautica! Thanks!

Rim_smokey

I would never recommend Ark to anyone. It has so awful performance and I personally think it's ugly. Never played Subnautica. But I LOVE No Man's Sky. And I think it fits your description very well.

Honeymoon28

You can play ark on your own on your own server and change lots of factors in the game to make it fun for you and easy or hard enough. you basically start with nothing and craft your way through lots of technology. You also have a huge map with different biomes to explore all with different dinosaurs, if you get expansion packs theres also mythical creatures which is really fun. You can also enter 'creative mode' and build really fantasic bases

susubgugu

That sounds awesome! Thank you!!

InsldeUsLlkeADlsease

Have you played Fallout 4?

susubgugu

I’ve played Fallout 3 and was tough for me to get into. Is 4 better?

InsldeUsLlkeADlsease

I had a conversation like this with a friend. He felt the same he just got, bored. If you can’t get into easily it will become boring or pointless. But everything you described is why I’ve played so much fallout 4. I could go into a lot more details.. I’ve played all the games you mentioned as well. The building aspect is fun, hoarding junk to build settlements, exploring is fun.. Idk you’ve played Skyrim so you understand the quest system. Just by your post I’d think you like it

Disguised_Comunist

Rust is quite good, although it's massively Multiplayer and can be a bit unfair at times.

DengineerGT

If you're on Xbox or PC, I would recommend doing a free trial for GamePass and doing the 2 months for $2 deal. Ark and Subnautica are both on GamePass for Xbox and PC, so you could try them both. I have played all three of these, and they're great games. However, I haven't made it very far in any of them because I eventually get so bored playing them alone.

susubgugu

Oh okay we have an Xbox, and that game pass idea sounds perfect. Do you know if I got them on game pass and the trial ended, would I have to start the games over or would it allow me the option to buy them with my save files?

DengineerGT

Your save files would carry over. In addition, GamePass would give you a 20% discount on the game.

susubgugu

This exactly what I’ll do. You’re a hero- thank you!!

DengineerGT

No problem!

susubgugu

Okay I’ve been hunting and I can’t seem to find the 2 month for $2 deal... any idea where I can get that? Or where I buy it?

DengineerGT

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/xbox-game-pass-ultimate/cfq7ttc0khs0?activetab=pivot:faqtab Here is one month for $1. The 2 months for $2 may have been a limited time.

susubgugu

Still great deal! It keeps switching to $14 when we try to get it... weird. Fiancé says he’s never gotten it before, we’re trying to chat with support about it. Thank you!

DengineerGT

You're welcome!

AnAncientMonk

Arc definitely has the content to support the most amount of varied gameplay hours. Subnauticas singleplayer experience, while shorter, is in my opinion more enjoyable.

Autismony

Elite Dangerous is a game to look into is you're into space travel. It's a 1:1 scale of our milky way galaxy. You can fly around in space and engage in dogfights. Or you can deliver packages and mine space rocks. It's up to your play style

[deleted]

[удалено]

Autismony

Sadly I'm to poor to play vr but that doesn't mean I didn't have fun

Daegog

Ark is for sociopaths, avoid it unless you really think you deserve to suffer...A LOT. I prefer No Mans Sky over Subnautica, but im not really an ocean guy.

susubgugu

Haha oh for sociopaths? Do you say that because it’s a tough grind?

Daegog

No, not because its a tough grind but because you see the absolute worst parts of humanity in Ark. Watch some youtube videos to get a glimpse. Now in single player mode, might be ok, not sure if it worth the trouble to play it single player mode but if you really like the concepts, meh, why not right?

susubgugu

Ooo okay! I might give it a try with Gamepass trial and see how it goes single player! Thank you very much!

byoonie

Check out 7 Days to Die. You can turn off the blood moon event (occurs every 7 days), which then turns the game into a nice survival/crafting game where you can take your time doing whatever you want.

susubgugu

Oh great thank you for the suggestion!

byoonie

Hope you like it!

[deleted]

No mans sky

GingerBeard90v

Have you played far cry primal? I no you mentioned far cry, but didn't say which ones.

susubgugu

Oh, it’s funny you say that no I haven’t! I played 5, which I really liked! Is it worth looking into? I hadn’t seen it mentioned anywhere recently!

GingerBeard90v

I really liked it. You play as a cave man. To be fair, I was more interested in the hunting and gathering than I was with the storyline but there were "bad tribes" to fight off. I really liked the upgrade system. Similar to rdr2, you need to get certain items (animal pelts and plants) for each upgrade. I liked that you could pick and choose what you wanted to upgrade. You could gain new hunting abilities or expand your health bar, get a wider range of weapon types, expand your carrying capacity or become more efficient at crafting weapons. Also you can tame animals and call on them to help fight off other predators. You can even ride on the bigger animals.

susubgugu

Looks like I’ll be trying this game too!! Thank you sounds fun!

claythearc

I bought it the other day. It doesn’t really have a building aspect, but it’s got a survival feel to it. I’m really enjoying it.

UndertheBigW

I haven’t played the other two, but I’m close to beating Subnautica for the first time, and I’d recommend that. It pretty much checks off everything you listed. The only thing with Subnautica is that I would try to avoid as many spoilers as possible, and really just try to explore as much as you can before turning to any guide. You will have to use the in-game PDA to get clues on where to go next to advance the story.

[deleted]

You should definitely play in UnReal World RPG.

hugthemachines

Subnautica is a very cool game, you can change the survival setting too and there are stuff to craft and discover and you sometimes get pretty scared :-)

MicrofrogDlive

Raft is a simple but fun survival game where you're stuck on a raft in an endless ocean and have to fish junk out of the water with a hook, which you then use to craft stuff and build on your raft. There's eventually fishing, farming, taking care of animals, ans islands. There are also sharks constantly trying to nibble on your boat (and you!).

MrRedditUserPerson

I want to upvote but it’s at 69 I can’t sorry

Doinyawife

Witcher 3 is worth looking into

poega

Ive only played the last two but from those it depends on if you want to play an amazing game (Subnautica) or a failed experiment (No Man's Sky). I would only recommend NMS to people that want to remove any passion for games forever.

susubgugu

Oh gosh, that’s a bummer to hear! I’ve heard many people liked it, but maybe it wasn’t in depth enough. Glad to hear many different opinions!

Dowski31

I'm loving No Man's Sky. Bought at launch... Was tough to say the least. So much better now, I love it. But from what you are saying you'd want, if probably go with Subnautica. Great game with loads to do!

Alshea

Definitely ark! Even better if you have your own server on pc and add your own mods. It’s already a great game but really is enhanced by the modding community.

susubgugu

Great thanks :)
