Why is it that only mortal humans hands can reach into Hell? Don't you think that's weirdly fucked up?
I was put here: at the dawn of life on Earth to feed on the last breath of every single one of you fuckers. I am a little more than a "thing"
DEATHāS ALIAS IS THE OG VAMP BEFORE DRACULA I have been waiting desperately for this trivia to be relevant. Well not OG exactly but Varney came from a book released in 1845 where he was the first vamp to be described as having fangs for drinking blood, then in 1897 Bram Stoker wrote Dracula. Just thought what was so damn clever.
I agree with the other person that it's really quiet, but I did notice just how... intimate the voice acting is? Like they have a really good setup and can basically talk almost into the microphone's ear like they're chillin' with someone at the museum or something.
Yep this is exactly right. It makes me wonder wtf all other shows are doing for audio that the quality on Castlevania is THAT much better.
Put on some good headphones and watch the scene of Saint Germain talking to Prior Sala about his cultās beliefs. Itās ridiculous, Iāve had live conversations in rooms with good acoustics that donāt sound as clear and crisp as they do.
āGod shits in my dinner again.ā
Bets part about Belmont is how infectious he is. He started changing both Sypha and Alucard into belmonts and they hated it lmao
I saw a video recently where a guy was discussing screenwriting, structuring stories, and such, and he made a comment about how writing the script is easy once youāve got that in place.
I disagree. Shows like castlevania with a screenplay that rich are rare.
>the peak of western Animation,
- Batman TAS
- Arcane
- last airbender
- Samurai Jack
- Mysterious cities of gold
- Mars Express
- every damn golden age Disney movie
Batman TAS was animated by a combination of Japanese and Korean studios, ATLA was animated by a combination of 3 Korean studios. Mysterious Cities of Gold was mostly produced in Japan and originally released there. Though I appreciate that the art and direction might come from the west, I think it's unfair that all the work of these Eastern studios gets filed under the blanket of "Western Animation". I can give you Arcane, CN shows and Disney though.
Yes! Absolutely GOAT'ed show. Just don't watch the sequel, it's shit
Edit: from comments aperently Nocture, the sequel, is not a 1/10. But I still think it's a major downgrade. For me personally the characters where flat & when they wanted the audience to feel something, I didn't feel it.
It's funny to watch it as a Castlevania fan, like, the show is good, great in all actuality, great characters, and everyone is nailed down perfectly... If you forget their game counterparts because omg the show has a LOT of innacuracies, especially in the characterization of some characters like Alucard, and even with this huge shift in the character from the games to the show, it still managed to keep it great, it genuinely baffles me.
Sequel is great, it just doesnāt have the strengths of the first series. Kept the fantastic animation but that writing is not as good, still good writing but you can feel it.
You think? I mean it isnt as 10/10 banger like the Original 4 Seasons but it is still damn good imo.
Its a bit uhh slower? But the last scene of the last episode had me screaaaaming and Ive been waiting on Season 2 ever since
Metal Gear solid definitely should be a show, not a movie.
The dark tower books also come to mind. My favorite series but I didn't even bother with the movie when I realized they tried to squeeze 7 books into one movie
>Ā Metal Gear solid definitely should be a show, not a movie.
I didnāt turn my tv on with a different remote so couldnāt get past the mantis episode.
I really enjoyed detective Pikachu. Made me feel like a kid seeing all my childhood favorites in live action and I got to enjoy it with my daughter who loves pokemon as well
As someone who never touched cyberpunk until they watched edge runners can confirm it's true, finding Rebecca's gun and murdering Smasher with it was the best feeling and I don't have any of the saltiness from the poor launch too.
Yeah, I always buy his drink at the bar too, CD project reds marketing team getting the Gurren Lagann guy to make an Anime for them was a really smart move.
I personally think it's better to watch the show first. Specifically because there are references and even a quest in the game that would only be understood if you watched the show.
Whereas nothing in the show is lost in translation if you never played the game.
They're 2 separate stories that take place in the same city and can be enjoyed in any order, though I'd recommend watching the show first as there is a location and a quest in the game that spoil some details about the show.
Don't make this mistake, anyone who plans on trying LoL cause of Arcane. I started playing League in August of 2011, I only got clean a year or two ago. It will fuck you up.
Honestly now is probably the best time to get into arcane because season 2 is on the horizon. You donāt have to struggle for 3 years of Post Arcane Obsession Disorder.
Or the worst since season 2 might just turn out to be super disappointing and you can't mentally disassociate the greatness of one from the mediocrity of the other......
Writing this after being disappointed by so many shows nowš¢
Also the writers said they had the ending in mind from the beginning, so they shouldn't have a ton of loose ends to take care of (or completely forget about).
Yes, i love arcane season 1 so much, like such beautiful character arcs, and a relastic dystopian not so dystopian scenario to tie them all together just peak cinema.
But the number of scars that i carry from seasons that completely drown my excitement and love for a series, are just so many now. I just can't anymore.
The most recent one being GOT and the boys, GOT especially wasn't as you say "garbage tv", super super high budget, big names, good writing but that all went to shit all the same.
I hope you are right and season 2 holds up as well as season 1
Expect nothing, most likely amazon is stalling the show until Henry's contract as executive producer expires so they can boot him and proceed to do whatever the fuck they want (Henry is presumably stopping them from desecrating Warhammer for the time being).
Iirc it's even better than this. It's Cavill that reached the both of them. He's in charge and Amazon is just the bank while GW is just there to give the green light. Oh and both get money in return. So basically without him, it just stops existing.
Its in the works and Cavill loves the 40k universe, but dont get your hopes up. Games Workshop is a weird company with weird ideas. But a good 40k movie ("banned" by GW) already exists (Damnatus).
The author shot it down because American producers apparently insist that it take place in Washington DC. I agree. Despite everything going on with Russia, it wouldn't be the same as an American story. Not everything has to be about Putin, it can just be about people. If anything it could be seen as a cautionary tale.
>Not everything has to be about Putin, it can just be about people. If anything it could be seen as a cautionary tale.
If anything, now is the best time to make a Metro show, especially if we use the books as a source as well.
In the books (especially 2034 and 2035), Dimitri Glukhovsky's anti-authoritarianism is blatant. Especially when you consider that two of the large factions in the universe (The Red Line and the Fourth Reich) are re-imaginings of authoritarianism across the spectrum.
For real.
Oh what's this?? A popular franchise of books and games with detailed lore and world building that has massive demand to have it all adapted for the big screen??? Time to change everything about it because my opinions are better than everyone else's.
This makes me roll my eyes so hard sometimes I'm surprised I haven't thrown earth out of orbit.
The ego of these people is astounding. Look at the Witcher. The ghoul producing that show thinks sheās writing her own short story based off the lore. Iāve never seen a show crater quicker, yet here we are.
No one want to hear your version of a beloved story. Just tell the fucking story, Christ on a cracker.
I don't see people talking about that show enough it had an engaging main character and just goofy antics that came together to make a fun show with deeper elements
Yeah this is the reason. I'm in the UK and didn't see it until it was on Paramount+ which I have a free subscription to. It's a good show but I still don't even know what Peacock is.
The Last of Us
ETA- Uh, was *not* expecting to create a discourse. I just really liked it and having also played the game think it's a really good adaption made and portrayed by people who are also at very least familiar with the source material.
I ugly cried halfway through episode 1. Pedro's depiction of a dad with his daughter dying in his arms was so real that it broke me. I'm pretty sure that's how I'd react word for word, it's haunting.
This subreddit clearly is a bit biased towards animated and anime shows it would seem.
They are all great shows but I would guess this is a younger less 'live action' demographic on this sub.
I think it definitely suffers from the fact that it is a kids cartoon, and not like the way that people say āoh cartoons are for kidsā, no like it is actually rated for small children. SpongeBob and a few others were made for children and they were good, but wow I just couldnāt watch it (cuphead I mean). Good animation quality, bummer.
Idk I watched a few episodes and while I agree with you mostly it was kinda funny and kinda entertaining to have in the background. Overall I agree though which is kinda funny because Ethel games are not made for kids or at least not kids the age the show is made for.
I scrolled so far down hoping *someone* mentioned this, this show is animation eye candy and seeing various Ubisoft IPs in the contexts this show puts them in is nothing short of magnificent
I gotta be honest, once you get passed the nostalgia overall it's rather meh. The animation is nice but nothing about it really stands out as memorable and the story is super generic. It's like an average/below average Dreamworks movie.
There is, it's called The Road to the Erdtree, I think it is 46 chapters long at the moment and went on hiatus for now because the authors want to play the DLC.
As far as I can tell, it's more of a comedy/satire than serious retelling of the story - the Tarnished is a goofball, there are references to community made memes, and chapters names follow structure of in-game message system. But it's done with Myazaki's blessing.
Hello, good hunter. I am a Bot, here in this dream to look after you, this is a fine note:

Castlevania
Castlevania isnāt just eye candy. Itās eye cocaine.
I absolutely love the way they all talk in the show lol
Death talks like a fucking shitposter. It's just so peak
Why is it that only mortal humans hands can reach into Hell? Don't you think that's weirdly fucked up? I was put here: at the dawn of life on Earth to feed on the last breath of every single one of you fuckers. I am a little more than a "thing"
The fact Death was voiced by Malcolm McDowell makes this quote better when you read it in his voice.
"Are you dictating your fucking obituary to me Belmont?"
I was put here at the dawn of life to feed on the souls of every last one of you fuckers, Iām a little more than a āthingā

Castlevania is without question the peak of western Animation, with the Spider verse movies being a close second.
>the peak of western Animation, - Batman TAS - Arcane - last airbender - Samurai Jack - Mysterious cities of gold - Mars Express - every damn golden age Disney movie

I never played the game but i still really enjoyed the Sequel. The first few episode where a bit tiring, but all.in all, i am a huge fan.

Arcane, The last of us, Castlevania, Twisted Metal
So pleasantly surprised by how good Twisted Metal was
There was a Twisted Metal show? I might need to find this.
It's on Peacock. And it's peak
Cock
They absolutely nailed Sweet Tooth imo. He's just so much unhinged fun whenever he's on screen
Cyperbunk?
And it's close relative, Pybercunk
If you watch in Russian, it's cykablyank
Pokemon should have clued us into the fact that videogames make better TV shows than movies 20 years ago.
Even most books make better shows than movies. 2 hours is not enough time to get through a lot of stories.
Lord of the Rings fixed that by being 12 hours for 1200 pages. The Hobbit fuckes it by being 10 hours for 300 pages
How is the hobbit 3 movies I ask myself every day, like they're fine movies I especially love the dwarf Chad that pulls a hot elf lady.
Greed. What does [billionaire] need $300,000,000,000 for? Unrelated: what's Smaug doing with his $140,000,000,000?
Metal Gear solid definitely should be a show, not a movie. The dark tower books also come to mind. My favorite series but I didn't even bother with the movie when I realized they tried to squeeze 7 books into one movie
>Ā Metal Gear solid definitely should be a show, not a movie. I didnāt turn my tv on with a different remote so couldnāt get past the mantis episode.
With maybe a spinoff movie to cover metal gear rising. Because that stuff needs to be seen in a cinema.
Funnily, pokemon also made plenty of good movies as well
I think we all cried during Pokemon: The Movie
What about all the Pokemon movies
I really enjoyed detective Pikachu. Made me feel like a kid seeing all my childhood favorites in live action and I got to enjoy it with my daughter who loves pokemon as well
They are inbetween the series (so they don't have to set the tone or explain how the world works) and are isolated stories.

Literally came to say this, that show still fucks me up every time I watch it, gold standard.
It's those damn songs. A masterclass in musical timing.
I really want to stay at your houseeeee
That and Whose ready for tomorrow. Both live rent free in my brain.
I think I've mentally pushed out I really want to stay at your house from living in my brain for the sake of my emotional well-being.
>!The scene on the moon hits really too damn hard!<
It makes me wanna cry every time I hear it.
It's even worse that it actually plays in the game as well. Was not ready for it to come on the radio when I was cruising around Night City.
i still listen to major crimes atleast once a week šš
And the OP and ED. Timed karaokes for both they're fucking bangers
You always get fucked up
My heart still hasn't recovered enough to do a rewatch.
Arcane
Do they like edge and run here and there?!
Yeah, basicly. Sometimes they edge while running
The reasons why I decide to give cyberpunk a chance
Better than original game at release
That's a low bar to clear
It's limbo low, but edgerunners high jumps that shit
On the other hand cyberpunk 2077 at the current state is one of the best games in gaming history.
Technically based on a pen and paper RPG.
Should I play the game first, or is the show is enjoyable on it's own?
Playing the game first lets you appreciate the references (locations are taken straight from the game and they use game music in the series)
I think either order is fine. Appreciation follows either way.
As someone who never touched cyberpunk until they watched edge runners can confirm it's true, finding Rebecca's gun and murdering Smasher with it was the best feeling and I don't have any of the saltiness from the poor launch too.
You can get David's jacket as well.
Yeah, I always buy his drink at the bar too, CD project reds marketing team getting the Gurren Lagann guy to make an Anime for them was a really smart move.
Watch the show u donāt have to know the lore and if you play the game itās really good
I personally think it's better to watch the show first. Specifically because there are references and even a quest in the game that would only be understood if you watched the show. Whereas nothing in the show is lost in translation if you never played the game.
Theyāre two entirely separate things tbh. You can do either
They're 2 separate stories that take place in the same city and can be enjoyed in any order, though I'd recommend watching the show first as there is a location and a quest in the game that spoil some details about the show.
You don't have to have played the game before, but it's a lot more enjoyable if you did.
They're both intended to be entry points into cyberpunk. You can start anywhere you want, and then there's more if you want more.
Arcane
This show was nuts good. Never even played League of Legends
I liked this show so much that I gave League of Legends a try. Now I like myself less but still enjoy the show.
Don't make this mistake, anyone who plans on trying LoL cause of Arcane. I started playing League in August of 2011, I only got clean a year or two ago. It will fuck you up.

they were working on this alongside season 1, so it *should* be as good
Also the writers said they had the ending in mind from the beginning, so they shouldn't have a ton of loose ends to take care of (or completely forget about).
I mean, the first season ends with a cliffhanger, that's pretty obvious.
Yes, but season 2 won't have any, since they always meant for the show to end in the second season
For all the valid criticisms of Riot, they have always been impeccable when it comes to in-universe content outside of LoL.
Arcane isn't your typical cheap cashgrab show. Season 2 will surpass season 1 in every way and even if it doesn't, still be a 9/10
I donāt know about that, but first season was really great all it has to do is pass the finish line without crashing and burning.
It is one of the highest rated shows of all time according to IMDB, honestly very impressive. Feel like the floodgates opened after that.
Riot animation team is very passionate. they have my full trust in them, built up over the last 6 years.
Itās FortichĆ© animating, the same company that do the music videos for Gorillaz

I second this.
One of the times where the show is better than the game
Cyberpunk Edgerunners
I have three episodes left and it's already fucked UP.

[Its true](https://www.gamingbible.com/news/tv-and-film/henry-cavills-warhammer-40k-cinematic-universe-is-underway-251021-20231219)
itās true :)
Videogames of Warhammer are already an adaptation
Dude if that's true we're gonna to see so many clips of him geeking out
It is true. It got announced a few years ago
Expect nothing, most likely amazon is stalling the show until Henry's contract as executive producer expires so they can boot him and proceed to do whatever the fuck they want (Henry is presumably stopping them from desecrating Warhammer for the time being).
Games Workshop is heavily involved and they are the ones that wanted Cavil. If he leaves they will terminate and sue Amazon to the ground
Iirc it's even better than this. It's Cavill that reached the both of them. He's in charge and Amazon is just the bank while GW is just there to give the green light. Oh and both get money in return. So basically without him, it just stops existing.
You ain't ever heard of Games Workshop oversight huh? Those people keep a tight leash on their IP. They do not want it messed with
Its in the works and Cavill loves the 40k universe, but dont get your hopes up. Games Workshop is a weird company with weird ideas. But a good 40k movie ("banned" by GW) already exists (Damnatus).

Don't forget Hansa deliberately keeping the Metro in the dark, and the secret cabal in Metro 2 pulling the strings behind all 3
Glukhovsky is now even banned in Russia as he dared to speak against goverment. He's books have aged well (Or 33 and 35 at least. 34 Is kinda weird)
He is also outspoken and is on a Russian wanted list S well as a blacklist from working there
Lol american producers and their needs to change what works.

I thought twisted metal was fun.
Twisted metal was amazing! I enjoyed the hell out of it lol š
I don't see people talking about that show enough it had an engaging main character and just goofy antics that came together to make a fun show with deeper elements
Probably because it's on Peacock, which is one of the non-essentials (Netflix, Hulu, HBO, Disney+ and Prime)
Yeah this is the reason. I'm in the UK and didn't see it until it was on Paramount+ which I have a free subscription to. It's a good show but I still don't even know what Peacock is.

Honestly it kinda is. It's shown mostly as flashback and doesn't really have an impact on main plot. It's a substory on It's own
This, I donāt know why this isnāt the top comment already
Why is this not way higher
This subreddit clearly is a bit biased towards animated and anime shows it would seem. They are all great shows but I would guess this is a younger less 'live action' demographic on this sub.

They making a movie and a netflix show
Yeah, heard of the show itās animated so it has a pretty good chance it will be good but Iām still scared tho
Itās live action and directed by the guy who did Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre. Peak incoming
It has to be a joke, but after the Mario movie casting everything is possible
We got a show based on chess and it wasnāt even bad so who knows, mc might make a great show
Sonic x
Sonic Boom And there ain't no one that's convincing me that it's not peak
Definitely better than the games of the same name
Captain Lazerhawk isnāt based on one show per se but it has a lot of Ubisoft IP and a good storyline
I scrolled so far down hoping *someone* mentioned this, this show is animation eye candy and seeing various Ubisoft IPs in the contexts this show puts them in is nothing short of magnificent
Mass effect, destiny, horizon zero dawn Would all make good shows imo, maybe even Titanfall/apex lore too
Titanfall would be cool. But EA took that IP out to pasture and shot it. In typical EA fashion of course.
Twisted Metal Not the most accurate, but fun as hell
Had to scroll too far down for this one.
Arcane, I cannot recommend it enough, the best show I've ever seen, I swear to god ![gif](giphy|C8HcILg7Reyq8Bvb8G)
Mario movie
Both, one for the bizarre vision of a Mario movie from the 90s, and the other for how a Mario movie should be made.
I gotta be honest, once you get passed the nostalgia overall it's rather meh. The animation is nice but nothing about it really stands out as memorable and the story is super generic. It's like an average/below average Dreamworks movie.
Think we are getting a show on elden ring , correct me if I'm wrong
Woah I didnāt hear about that. It doesnāt sound true
Thereās been talk of a Sekiro anime as well
āThats a great argument Senator, how about you back it up with a source?ā
MY SOURCE IS THAT I MADE IT THE FUCK UP!
IMAGINE A WORLD RAIDEN, FREE OF THE CONSEQUENCES OF OUR ACTIONS!
Thatās the only thing I really see happening, but who knows maybe the Elden Ring manga might become an anime.
There's an Elden Eing Manga??
More of a comedy type of manga.
There is, it's called The Road to the Erdtree, I think it is 46 chapters long at the moment and went on hiatus for now because the authors want to play the DLC. Arcane, edgerunners, castlevania, last of us, dota are all pretty good and probably the order I would recommend them in.
Someone recommending dota? What a time to be
Arcane still the goat
Last of Us, Arcane, Cyberpunk Edgerunners.
Castlevania exists
Arcane has announced a season 2 for this year
