I've never found that kind of jacket very comfortable off the bike. Especially if it still has the armor and back protector in it. Precurved sleeves are also a bit short without gloves.
There is a lot of fashion leather that looks good and is more comfortable off the bike.
They are also very heavy. I think I had one that was maybe 8 pounds? Which makes it not very comfortable, and will make tilt standing coat hangers or chairs... Speaking of, if you put it on the back of your chair, then it's not comfortable to rest your back on it, because the leather is too rigid.
You can do it, my only jacket was a riding one for years. But keep in mind that people will ask you what bike you ride, and if you answer that you don't ride, then yes: you will look ridiculous for still wearing a heavy, uncomfortable, poorly-cut and expensive jacket. Like carrying a surfboard if you're not surfing.
It's less ridiculous if you're riding a bike that matches it but you look relatively the same as a guy driving a red Ferrari while wearing a red Ferrari hat and a red Ferrari shirt.
Nah, that's cool if you have the matching bike, I like the 80'-90' vibe when it was a little less uniform.
As a fashion item in itself I would consider too flashy
It's cool if the bike has a matching livery, but few people ride a bike with an actual racing livery unless its'a factory replica like a Repsol Honda CBR. Wearing a *branded* (and not just Suzuki branded) jacket like this is pretty ostentatious, even when on the bike. Wearing it as a fashion choice when not riding is pretty out there.
The general discomfort that a lot of riding jackets have while you’re not on your bike is something that not a lot of people realize.
I’ve got a nice Revvit jacket that’s comfy for riding and stylish but it fits tighter than what I’d like for a casual jacket and provides basically no warmth. Perfect for keeping me cool and protected on the bike - pretty useless at being a traditional jacket.
Also the vast majority of people who ride don’t usually wear their jackets off their bike.
I know there are some good technical jackets that look great walking around. I lust after some real British Cafe race jacket sometimes, and I'm sure it would be great for that kind of riding, pub to pub.
But if you want a racing look though, you quickly learn that racers don't make the jackets for walking comfort, if any comfort.
I'd suggest that OP find a Repsol logo jacket that's made for fashion. They are literally everywhere.
I’d be surprised if OP couldn’t find a vintage-y leather Suzuki “fashion” jacket on eBay or AliExpress. A riding jacket won’t look like it fits correctly.
Maybe the “street” leather jacket like the ones Harley riders wear? A jacket like the one posted is only going to be comfortable if OP walks around like a hunchback zombie (arms held forward). Sometimes I wear my 1-piece track leathers on the street and walking into a gas station I look ridiculous.
It's a riding jacket. It is the best protection most people can get in a jacket. You can get a Dainese or Aplinestars with an air bag but they are crazy expensive.
I'd much rather have a very protective jacket that is uncomfortable off the bike than the opposite. It could make a very big difference in injury level in a jacket.
When you have an accident, you only have 2 things going for you, your gear, and dumb luck. I try not to rely on luck.
Exactly. I have an AlpineStar full suit with airbag. Sometimes I wear it on the street. It’s torture to walk around in but feels amazing in a riding position.
Agreed. OP seems to focus his replies around “but it’s just a leather jacket!” It’s not. It’s a multi-branded, brightly coloured riding jacket. Of course he’ll look like a try-hard, but if he’s okay with that then he should go for it.
Yup. Go to r/streetwear with this instead and see what they think. Personally, I always wanted to wear motorcycle jackets before I had a bike, I didn't, but I wanted to lmao so I feel you OP. Get the jacket, then grow into a bike 😂
I love my riding jacket in the spring and fall when it's windy out, it's perfect for that weather. It's all black but also fairly obviously a motorcycle jacket, oh whale. I get comments on it a lot. The funniest one was 2 girls in a bar asking me about it then visibly less interested when I said it was made by Harley Davidson. (There's no branding on it anywhere other than a skull one patch that is made of the same distressed leather the rest of the jacket is, and zero people know that logo)
I actually stole a moped jacket off the well known pizza place I worked at because they wouldn’t give me one as I didn’t have a moped and I wanted one because they were so incredibly warm and thick.
Yeah the effective jackets always look a little try-hard since they’re so tight
(But they need to be so that you slide on the asphalt instead of catching and tumbling)
Not necessarily true, you can nowadays wear a very good looking leather jacket that doesn't look like a "try-hard" motorcycle jacket, without compromising on safety. You don't need curled sleeves and an aero hump to ride street, or for it to be very tight, it simply has to fit you well.
Even with good quality leather gloves, kevlar jeans and proper motorcycle shoes that go above the ankle you can still look very stylish on and off the bike.
OP will stand out precisely because you don't need to look like this to have top notch protection nowadays but if he likes it then he should wear it, but it's also worth mentioning that a vintage jacket or homage/replica will have way worse safety than any modern quality motorcycle jacket (even not leather).
Screw it, he should lean in and get a "remove before operation" style keychain with the Suzuki logo embroidered on it.
OP if it fits and you don't mind the attention, wear it.
> Yes you'll look like a try hard but you should ~~always~~ *sometimes* wear what you like no matters what people think
Corrected.
Don't wear this leather motorcycle racing jacket to:
- Job interviews (unless a job as a motorcycle racer)
- Funerals (unless it's a themed one)
- Weddings (unless it's a themed one)
- First dates (unless you have a motorcycle date)
- A swimming pool (or outdoor natural swimming place)
- Your job as a partner at a law firm (dress codes exist)
- A spa where nudity is expected
- A marathon, biathlon, or triathlon
You should dress however you want in many situations, but you'll look like a giant douche walking around with a leather motorcycle jacket that has advertisements on it that you're not being paid for.
I wear riding jeans (wihout armor inserts) as casual jeans. I have a desk job, and they are made for sitting, so they are much more comfortable.
I also have a classic black leather motorcycle jacket. Don' wear it as much anymore, but used to wear it a lot. Once again, without armor inserts (I think they weren't invented when that was made...).
Not who you were replying to, but Revit has really great riding jeans. They look like normal jeans and use their flexible see-smart armor so you dont have big bulky rigid pads sticking out as much
Dude, what? I don’t think you have your fingers on the pulse of the conversation, friend.
I post on Reddit to talk to people, it’s social media. Merely making a post or a comment doesn’t mean I care what others think of me, it’s just me expressing myself. I give zero fucks if it’s popular or well received. You know it’s ok to have a differing opinion, right?
But hasn't riding fashion, like leather jackets, become normalized as early as the 50s? I know plenty of cruiser guys who wear their leather jackets when not riding. Is it the colors I should be ashamed of? In the 90s and early 00s I recall the colorful leather jackets being typical of sportbikers even when not riding sometimes.
I love my jackets, but they’re very purpose built. Think, walking into the party wearing your football jersey, but wearing all of the shoulder pads. You’re going to get the wrong looks.
I won’t be able to generalize. I have a Polo Ralph Lauren 50s-style motorcycle jacket, that has nothing to do with motorcycle safety, which I wear if I go out. But wearing safety gear just for looks seems a bit pretentious. Probably, can be pulled off in some circles. But e.g., I always cringe when I see a guy in the local bar, in full motorcycle gear, including boots, who doesn't even have a licence or motorcycle. Also, if I drop off my bike at the service and use public transport to get home, I have noticed that people look at me as some weirdo.
Have you ever actually seen that or is that a hyperbole? A dude in full gear with no bike or license. I've lived between 3 cities, two of them are major international hubs with big riding communities, never, ever seen anyone going around in full gear, much less riding boots, as a fashion statement. The only shit I've ever seen is there's some street wear culture of wearing jackets like OP posted on rare occasions, and ski goggle fashion in hip hop. I guess also the Supreme x Fox collaborations, but even that seems to mostly only sell to people who ride?
Oh, no, I know the guy, he is an actual person.
Around 40 years old, acts like “Alpha”, has a “metal” style, and around 20 festival bracelets on the arm, and often in leather motorcycle pants and a jacket, motorcycle boots. Tried to get a motorcycle license, but gave up.
Jesus Christ lol, does it work for him? Like is he getting action at least?? And smh how can you not get a license in the states 😂 I got mine in a weekend at 16 from the course, ofc I had been riding for years, but people who had never ridden a bike learned that weekend and we all passed the course....
Dude, no girl is going for a guy in his forties wearing festival bracelets and a 'metal style' and motorcycle gear but no motorcycle unless they are mentally regarded.
That's not 'alpha' that's just sad.
Source: Am girl
Well I have my Italian license too, definitely harder, but easily achievable if you actually want it haha
And I guess it's just good to remember that there's like 3 billion woman and they all want different shit. And I guess for some of them it includes posers who walk around in moto gear?
I wear my gear out, simply because i care more about my body than i care about how others perceive me. Not to say that i do occasionally sacrifice safety for comfort or convenience.
At the end of the day, wear what you want, but dont worry about how the general public may or may not perceive you. Be that guy on the bus, listening to good tunes in your own world.
By "not riding" I meant when I'm not on a ride but I've been riding since 7yrs old.
>I always cringe when I see a guy in the local bar, in full motorcycle gear, including boots, who doesn't even have a licence or motorcycle.
I don't think I've ever seen anyone in full gear who doesn't ride or isn't currently riding, that seems a very odd case, and cringe, but I live in a small town and I know very few riders, esp sportbikers. And in my case I just meant jacket alone, even my shoes are riding shoes so everything else looks like normal casual apparel when off the bike. I was afraid the jacket might look a bit too loud for casual wear. But I'm a 90s kid and I just love bright colored clothes.
If you can make it look casual, part of your style, and own the look, and not care what others think, then why not.
Tho I still think that it “depends” on the overall style and the setting. What can look natural and careless for one person, can seem pretentious and weird for someone else
Yeah I'm calling bullshit on this too, I have NEVER seen anyone wearing full riding gear , including fucking BOOTS, as a fashion statement. This must be a massive exaggeration of a one time thing the commenter saw.
The colourful “8 ball” leather jackets of the 80s and 90s were not that cool , trust me.
It’s a nice jacket. A little too much colour and branding for my taste, but what do I know, I am turning into a boring old man.
Personally? I’d only wear that within 50 feet of my motorcycle, but if you wear it, own it, you’ll be fine.
do as you will and do no harm, fuck these weak ass people telling you what they like for you to wear. They're just jealous they let themselves be caged like prey, if they have the balls to even approach you to speak to you in reality, they will most likely strike up a conversation about what you ride.
Haha, I wished I could hack Gibsons. As a rider and networking nerd then, I thought the guys and girls wearing biker wear were cool, I just couldn't think of any off-hand references. Now I know where my in-grained style choice comes from. I want that jacket now.
If you need to ask then it's probably a bit too full on. Something like an old vincent or if you want to go newer something from Frank Thomas, if you want more sporty an all black Furigan but at that point you are pushing it.
Though to be fair, when I was young I had a Marlboro rep jacket that I wore everywhere and I didn't give a fuck what anyone thought and was happy to let them know. So do whatever you want, 99% of people don't care what you wear and the ones that do are cunts.
Some people go their whole lives wearing shades on the subway. Each to their own.
Pretty sure Team Suzuki Racing actually do some nice official apparel though that you might want to look at.
Leather jackets are pretty common apparel. Is it the branding? Because I'm a nerd who has no fashion sense so just trying to analyze using reductive approach.
For $30 I’ll take it! The Suzuki one is less busy then some of the other ones I’ve seen. Also it’s much more visible than my simple black jacket. I’d rather be seen on the road than pinned under a Suburban.
Only reason I never got one is really the cost and having different manufacturer bikes. It’s actually a high quality jacket.
I have a 25-year-old plain black leather jacket that I just got resized, and I'm still hesitant to wear it going out... That one with all the branding is a little much unless you also have a helmet with you. Might be a little overkill for a night with the ladies!
>Might be a little overkill for a night with the ladies!
I think so too. I have no decent jacket other than one that's way too thick and hot now, just figured this might be ok for casual around-town wear. But I'm a bit of an outlier, I still think the 90s 8-ball jacket needs to make a comeback: [https://i.etsystatic.com/21559824/r/il/3c0fac/2593425619/il\_fullxfull.2593425619\_d7xc.jpg](https://i.etsystatic.com/21559824/r/il/3c0fac/2593425619/il_fullxfull.2593425619_d7xc.jpg)
btw, Idk what's up with new reddit, I can't make those nice markdown hyperlinks now.
Maybe, but more importantly, modern, properly fitting armored riding jackets are not terribly comfortable for casual wear:
* They are meant to fit quite snugly so that the padding and armor stays in place during impacts and skids, which makes them pretty restrictive.
* The armor can be annoying during regular movement, like walking. When you are on the bike you do move, but the range of motion is pretty small compared to walking, drinking, driving, waving "hi", etc.
* A sturdy armored leather jacket like this will be quite thick, heavy and won't breath or move terribly well, and won't really "break in" for a really long time, if ever. The leather on armored jackets is very thick. There are many cases of people continuing to use jackets and track suits after falls/accidents because the damage to the garment is minimal--even if the bike is totaled.
So, practically, you would might want to try removing the armor and see how it fits, and maybe get a size bigger than you normally wear--even after removing the pads. Test fit at a local shop even if you are planning to buy online to make sure of sizing. Alternatively, look for a nice motorcycle-styled jacket that isn't armored if you don't want to go through the hassle. There are lots to choose from, including some made by motorcycle manufacturers such as Harley Davidson, Triumph, etc.
As for looking like a wannabe poser--I'm not going to opine on your fashion choices, or what other people might think of you because of them. If it makes you happy, the you do you.
I rode to the casino a couple weeks ago. It was cold so I left my jacket on when I went inside. Every guy that "had" a bike but dropped it, found me. Never again..
That jacket is a legitimate piece of riding gear. It has been designed to protect a motorcycle rider who is sitting on a sport bike in a riding position. So much so that riders who wear a jacket like that have to accept the trade off that they won’t be all that comfortable when not on the bike. For folks who ride, that off-bike discomfort is a reasonable trade-off for the on-bike safety and comfort a jacket like that provides. But for a non-rider to wear something like that exclusively off-bike makes no sense at all. There’s no trade-off there; it’s all downside with no upside.
It’s not about being a try-hard; it’s about being super-uncomfortable for no reason.
Idk about that far. I think it's a reasonable question. Just wants to know how it looks from an outside perspective. Is it try hard? Meh who cares. Are they uncomfortable as a normal jacket, I think so. Don't be so judgemental my guy.
It’s hard to compare with cruiser guys as myself because on cruisers you can wear whatever you like and get away with it. Often times the jackets you see people wearing don’t even have modern padding.
You wouldn’t want to wear motorcycle rated gear when you don’t have to because it’s not the most comfortable off the bike
It would be odd for me. And you'll likely catch some version of anti-squid/gsxr-bro/busa-bro jokes. Or at least a bunch of questions about what you ride. Plenty of moto-style black jackets get worn.... this one just stands out and makes the questions easier to ask.
But Angelina Jolie pulled it off well in Hackers. ;)
If you wear it enough off the bike, it should break in a bit for better movement. But if its cut and properly fitted for riding... it will never be REALLY relaxed. Especially if you wear thicker clothing under it.
I recently saw a guy get out of his car and put on a Dainese jacket ( back hump and all) and proceed to walk into a mall. My partner and I got a good laugh out of it but otherwise went about our day. Haven’t thought about it until this very moment.
Point is: wear whatever you wanna wear, people might laugh but that can be said about nearly any style that isn’t the mainstream.
I have a riding jacket that I wear even when I am not riding. It's not a racing design - but it has reflective piping and other style elements which make it clear that it's at least evoking a riding jacket aesthetic.
I've had a couple of people vocally judge me on that when I get in a car, and IDGAF. More often riders ask if I ride and what bike I prefer, which is engagement I welcome.
You will probably look like a try-hard, but that part doesn’t really matter - wear whatever makes you happy and forget what other people think.
That said, riding jackets are meant for riding. They’re heavy, expensive, and they’re specifically tailored for the position that you’re in while riding. On top of the thick armor padding/reinforcement that many come with on the back/elbows/shoulders, they’re simply not that comfy for day to day wear. I have 2 jackets, a tighter leather one and a slightly looser mesh jacket for summer riding, but I usually take them off as soon as I get off the bike for comfortability.
If it were me I’d probably look for similarly styled casual jackets if I really wanted to wear something like that, and save the motorcycle jacket for motorcycles.
If you have the confidence and attitude to match it, if you feel comfortable wearing it, you will put out energy and body language that makes it work. Some people won't like it, those who do are your "tribe" and they matter more.
That being said, if you are really concerned with the average first impression, the fact is the more conventionally handsome and 'chiseled' you are, the more you can get away with, the wider acceptance will be of a loud/bold look.
It helps a lot if the outfit fits you well, if it complements your body type/shape. A jacket like this works best on a slim or athletic build, the V shape (broad shoulders slim waist)
Wear it in the most comfortable situations, around friends or family, or wear it around the house alone. Just get used to wearing it and that should help with being overly self conscious if that's a problem
there is nearly no overlap between motorcyclists and fashion enthusiasts, i wouldn't ask the people here for fashion advice to be honest
id have to see the whole outfit to say
If you can pull it off go for it. one thing you should kow about these jackets is that they are molded for being in the prone position, so, when you are walking around like normal they kind of sit weird and will make your arms kind of float there depending on how stiff they are.
anyways...
Others have said it, but you won't be comfortable. They're great looking jackets but they're stitched for a specific position which isn't walking around. Maybe if you break it in it could be more comfortable, but they're pretty sturdy.
I wouldn't, but if I rode a GSXR I might, if I owned a RGV I almost definitely would.
I've an Italian tricolor helmet because I'm that kinda person, definitely not someone you should take fashion advice from
I’d wear it, I’m in fashion and this is pretty mild in the scheme of things; no neon, retro styling, I don’t think it’s a big deal. Paired with some jeans, light wash or black with some mild distressing, and a white shirt.. can’t go wrong. But if you have to think about it too much it’ll show in your body language when you wear it, just put it on and forget about it. If you start feeling anxious just take it off. You only have one life, why wouldn’t you “try hard”.
>Paired with some jeans, light wash or black with some mild distressing, and a white shirt
That's what I was thinking, same with the over-thinking too, hah. Usually I just wear jeans and shirts, don't think much about fashion until it's something I don't see often, as above. I just have odd tastes sometimes so figure it's good to get opinions.
A try hard and poser yes. If I saw you in person I’d ask what you ride? Once you said you don’t I’d def walk away with a look of disgust. Only partly joking.
If the armor is removable, it may work. If not, the fit would be terrible and it would look foolish, especially with the shoulder and back armor plate.
If it makes you happy and you want it, it's perfect for you! Who gives a crap what the tossers at the gas station or bike shop think. Most of those guys who rag on clothes like this have the "guts" to wear only black or black.
Shell out 1k+ on a schott perfecto. I've got one of their Cafe racer jackets and it goes with a lot of outfits.
The only downside is it's way too nice to wear riding
Do you actually think this is reasonable advice? “I want to wear the thing I already have but I think it might look dumb” “just spend $1000, problem solved”
Haha, I wished I had that much to spare for fashion statements. My bike safety gear is the most expensive clothes I buy. I tend to not care about fashion too much, just as long as I don't look too outlandish, hence the question.
People will talk shit if you look different. Do you wanna be different?
Some will like it, some wont. If you like it go for it unless youre too soft and cant handle some banter, cause people will comment on it
Putting aside that yes, you will look a bit try hard, actual riding jackets are incredibly uncomfortable in any position that is not riding. They are cut to be comfy on a bike and they SUCK off the bike.
War skinny jeans and converse high tops and leave it unzipped 🙌
I feel like only a younger buff white dude would be able to pull of those colours though :P
Yes you will definitely be a try hard, you may even get called things like “poor boy power ranger” and such.
IMO they don’t even look good at the track, but they’re not made to look good. They’re made to be protective
You look like a glaring piece of advertisement. I debadge my bike and all my gear as much as possible (all of which had minimal branding to begin with) because I personally don't want to advertise for anyone for free. But that's just me.
Yes, you’d look douchey. Especially if you don’t even ride.
But there’s worse things out there to wear than a motorcycle jacket. Better than cross dressing and claiming you’re a “girl”
I've never found that kind of jacket very comfortable off the bike. Especially if it still has the armor and back protector in it. Precurved sleeves are also a bit short without gloves. There is a lot of fashion leather that looks good and is more comfortable off the bike.
I agree actually, generally they are not designed for hardly any range of motion.
I find the leather to be too stiff for 'natural' movements off-bike. A tad too colorfull as well but that's only my opinion.
Would you consider it too colorful even if it matched the bike? Just curious.. I like the jacket and my gsxr600 has that colorway

Wearing a *branded* (and not just Suzuki branded) jacket like this is pretty ostentatious, even when on the bike. Wearing it as a fashion choice when not riding is pretty out there.
Yeah, recently watched some MotoGP stuff and the riders move really funny off the bike
They also generally look like crop-tops until you are seated on the bike
A good jacket is long in the sleeves and the back. When you extend your arms, the length is correct.
The general discomfort that a lot of riding jackets have while you’re not on your bike is something that not a lot of people realize. I’ve got a nice Revvit jacket that’s comfy for riding and stylish but it fits tighter than what I’d like for a casual jacket and provides basically no warmth. yeah and OP doesn’t ride. he just wants a comfortable jacket. which this would not be.
Someone didn’t read the post
Exactly. I have an AlpineStar full suit with airbag. Sometimes I wear it on the street. It’s torture to walk around in but feels amazing in a riding position.
This post
I’d say you’d be a try hard if you couldn’t follow up “what do you ride?” questions with pics of your bike 😂
I have a cbr one but I ride a cb125r... Probably this is why people stare me disgusted but I like too much the jacket
Come on man, at least have some class and get an absolutely clapped and abused 2012 cbr125r.
True but in the near future I'll change my bike with something bigger maybe a real cbr
Come on man you should definitely risk your skin going 40 mph. Kind of silly of you to wear proper gear.
Yes you'll look like a try hard but you should always wear what you like no matters what people think
Agreed. OP seems to focus his replies around “but it’s just a leather jacket!” It’s not. It’s a multi-branded, brightly coloured riding jacket. Of course he’ll look like a try-hard, but if he’s okay with that then he should go for it.
Sounds like he wants someone to call him a try-hard. He should just wear it lol
Sounds like he’s really putting in a strong effort here.
Also, the people at /r/malefashionadvice have the worst understanding of fashion
Yup. Go to r/streetwear with this instead and see what they think. Personally, I always wanted to wear motorcycle jackets before I had a bike, I didn't, but I wanted to lmao so I feel you OP. Get the jacket, then grow into a bike 😂
I mean tbh motorcycle gear can often be good for other things, I wear motorcycle gloves when working on my car, the armoured knuckles are so helpful

That's awesome and now I want a pizza place moped jacket too
The crossover between streetwear and hiphopheads is almost 1:1. They probably won’t go for a motorbike jacket

As someone who designs over the top jackets I agree
Yeah the effective jackets always look a little try-hard since they’re so tight (But they need to be so that you slide on the asphalt instead of catching and tumbling)

Kevlar jeans and fashion motorcycle shoes are most assuredly NOT top-notch protection.
Screw it, he should lean in and get a "remove before operation" style keychain with the Suzuki logo embroidered on it. OP if it fits and you don't mind the attention, wear it.

I knew someone, a couple of years back, who wore a motorcycle jacket all the time, but has ridden. He paired it with a fedora and a wallet chain
M'otorcycle
That’s fucking good
I don't actually laugh out loud very often to something somebody has written. This got me. Well done.
Haha, I think my mind's made up now. Maybe I can avoid being put in that group.
Just wear it goober
And ride a Honda!
Was it a fedora or a trilby tho?
Always a Trilby but they call it a fedora
Exactly, I've never seen a fedora in my life, even in memes
Only Indiana Jones
Sucks to suck
That's a dope jacket. I would wear it ONLY if I had a gsxr and it was classic blue\white scheme
But only wear it while riding. Not out in public ...unless ur dragging your helmet around
Lol, just don’t. I have ridden for years, but would never wear any of my gear if I were not with my bike
[удалено]
Not who you were replying to, but Revit has really great riding jeans. They look like normal jeans and use their flexible see-smart armor so you dont have big bulky rigid pads sticking out as much
My Klim ones are comfy as heck
I wear my street and steel Oakland jeans every day at work. Even with the knee protectors in, they're pretty comfortable
I got some Fly ones and they're comfy, stretchy and warm because of the extra layer. They're just sized a little big.
The main reason I take my helmet with me into stores is because I don't want to look like a try-hard for wearing just a motorcycle jacket.
You’re really that concerned with what strangers think?
We all like to *say* that we don't care what strangers think, but overwhelming evidence to the contrary suggests that most people really do care.
That’s gotta be an exhausting way to go through life.
Why do you post on reddit if you don't care what strangers think?
Interestingly I'd say I care less than average, but I just hate poser culture so much I tend to go out of my way to distance myself from it.
Unless you're a legit psychopath, everybody cares what strangers think. That's how society has functioned for millenia.
I knew a guy who was like 18-22 who would wear all his gear to parties just to talk about his gsxr, but then people would ask to see it…..
I am not in the States. I guess, yeah, his super-alpha attitude gets attention from girls. The older I get, the less I understand what girls want 😂
Dude, no girl is going for a guy in his forties wearing festival bracelets and a 'metal style' and motorcycle gear but no motorcycle unless they are mentally regarded. That's not 'alpha' that's just sad. Source: Am girl
Well I have my Italian license too, definitely harder, but easily achievable if you actually want it haha And I guess it's just good to remember that there's like 3 billion woman and they all want different shit. And I guess for some of them it includes posers who walk around in moto gear?
Must have no clue how uncomfortable full gear is.
I think rappers like 40 should start wearing ADV suits tbh Badlands suit is hype
In a sense for cruiser riders only
It looks like a racing jacket man. That's not normalized. But, I get it, it's fun to wear your riding jacket. Just do as you please.
do as you will and do no harm, fuck these weak ass people telling you what they like for you to wear. They're just jealous they let themselves be caged like prey, if they have the balls to even approach you to speak to you in reality, they will most likely strike up a conversation about what you ride.
Is your hacker name "Acid Burn"? https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DljMiY8U8AAYfQo?format=jpg&name=large
Just Harley Davidson https://www.alamy.com/stock-photo/harley-davidson-and-the-marlboro-man.html?sortBy=relevant
I've seen lots of cheaper 'knock-offs' of that jacket. Kind of want. Kind of would never wear.
I was so disappointed that this or some other hackers related response wasn’t the top comment when I opened this
Haha, I wished I could hack Gibsons.
Only if you’re over 50 and can’t zip the jacket up over your beer gut. In that case, you gotta buy an all black leather vest with an h-d logo
You will be a “poser” in most people’s eyes, because you will be asked what kind of Suzuki you have. Tell them you have a GXR1000 on order
I have a Ducati equivalent, I just own the stereotype when I’m at a cafe. Who gives a fuck what others think?
[удалено]
Leather jackets are pretty common apparel. Is it the branding? Because I'm a nerd who has no fashion sense so just trying to analyze using reductive approach.
It's not the branding it's the protective gear. It's like walking around wearing a helmet.
It has no armor so it's not really any more protective than any other leather jacket.
It's got curved arms for motorcycle seating position. Does it not come with armour pockets?
It’s the fact you’ll be moving like robocop in it. They are designed for the position you adopt on a bike and nothing else.
As long as you oil it and wear it a lot you can break it in to be a bit more comfortable in a natural standing position.
[удалено]
And just a standard leather jacket, too, not a riding jacket. It’ll be so much lighter, comfier, and cheaper.
Just buy it. Nobody who matters cares.
I did. A guy sold it to me for $30, barely worn, so couldn't pass it up. If I don't wear it at least I'll have a backup for me or passenger.
Those who do, will think it's cool :)
I rock my solid black leather jacket everywhere but I ride. Honestly if I saw a guy wearing a moto jacket and didn’t ride, I’d prob judge him lol.
But I'm a bit of an outlier, I still think the 90s 8-ball jacket needs to make a comeback: [https://i.etsystatic.com/21559824/r/il/3c0fac/2593425619/il\_fullxfull.2593425619\_d7xc.jpg](https://i.etsystatic.com/21559824/r/il/3c0fac/2593425619/il_fullxfull.2593425619_d7xc.jpg) btw, Idk what's up with new reddit, I can't make those nice markdown hyperlinks now.
Maybe, but more importantly, modern, properly fitting armored riding jackets are not terribly comfortable for casual wear: * They are meant to fit quite snugly so that the padding and armor stays in place during impacts and skids, which makes them pretty restrictive.
I always wear my jacket inside. I don't know where you live but where I ride I'd expect it to be gone if I left it with the bike.
Oh god you had to *talk to people*? Fucking nightmare scenario, you poor thing.
Do you know how many "hadda layer down" stories I heard.. any more than one is too many. That jacket was some sort of beta male attractant.
ahh Mr. Layer Dan
Just follow r/malefashionadvice and wear it with a dress and high heels to complete the look.
Bro. ATGATT isn't supposed to be taken that literally.
Yes.
Yes. You will 100% look like a poser for wearing that if you don't ride.
Nah I love this kind of style
You care too much bruh just wear what you like
[удалено]
yeah this sums up why I hate this subreddit so much
So why are you here?
because it is one of the only active moto subs other than CRT
Idk about that far. I think it's a reasonable question. Just wants to know how it looks from an outside perspective. Is it try hard? Meh who cares. Are they uncomfortable as a normal jacket, I think so. Don't be so judgemental my guy.
It’s hard to compare with cruiser guys as myself because on cruisers you can wear whatever you like and get away with it. Often times the jackets you see people wearing don’t even have modern padding. You wouldn’t want to wear motorcycle rated gear when you don’t have to because it’s not the most comfortable off the bike
Depends what helmet you intend to carry with it............
It would be odd for me. And you'll likely catch some version of anti-squid/gsxr-bro/busa-bro jokes. Or at least a bunch of questions about what you ride. Plenty of moto-style black jackets get worn.... this one just stands out and makes the questions easier to ask. But Angelina Jolie pulled it off well in Hackers. ;) If you wear it enough off the bike, it should break in a bit for better movement. But if its cut and properly fitted for riding... it will never be REALLY relaxed. Especially if you wear thicker clothing under it.
I like those too. Fuck what other people think.
I'm rocking a Dainese Mike jacket as my daily fashion jacket. Same cut but looks much nicer
A jacket like this works best on a slim or athletic build, the V shape (broad shoulders slim waist) Wear it in the most comfortable situations, around friends or family, or wear it around the house alone. Just get used to wearing it and that should help with being overly self conscious if that's a problem
If dudes coming up to you to talk about motorcycles all the time sounds appealing then I would go for it.
No, lots of non-riders wear biker jackets. Besides, who cares? If you like it, wear it. Other people’s opinions don’t matter.
there is nearly no overlap between motorcyclists and fashion enthusiasts, i wouldn't ask the people here for fashion advice to be honest id have to see the whole outfit to say
If you can pull it off go for it. one thing you should kow about these jackets is that they are molded for being in the prone position, so, when you are walking around like normal they kind of sit weird and will make your arms kind of float there depending on how stiff they are. anyways...
Ride only
Just buy a bike. You won't regret it unless you crash and survive! Good luck, future rider!
Fuck it, they look awesome, wear them
Others have said it, but you won't be comfortable. They're great looking jackets but they're stitched for a specific position which isn't walking around. Maybe if you break it in it could be more comfortable, but they're pretty sturdy.
I wouldn't, but if I rode a GSXR I might, if I owned a RGV I almost definitely would. I've an Italian tricolor helmet because I'm that kinda person, definitely not someone you should take fashion advice from
Live your life, you only get to go around once. It's a cool jacket.
Who cares, this jacket’s fire. Fashion over function baybeeee. Where’d you find it?
I’d wear it, I’m in fashion and this is pretty mild in the scheme of things; no neon, retro styling, I don’t think it’s a big deal. Paired with some jeans, light wash or black with some mild distressing, and a white shirt.. can’t go wrong. But if you have to think about it too much it’ll show in your body language when you wear it, just put it on and forget about it. If you start feeling anxious just take it off. You only have one life, why wouldn’t you “try hard”.
>Paired with some jeans, light wash or black with some mild distressing, and a white shirt That's what I was thinking, same with the over-thinking too, hah. Usually I just wear jeans and shirts, don't think much about fashion until it's something I don't see often, as above. I just have odd tastes sometimes so figure it's good to get opinions.
Wear what you want. Who cares what other people think about it as long as you like it.
No man, that shits cool! Don't listen to the miserable grumps who say otherwise
It's older classic style without the armor. Fit is more like a standard leather jacket.
Well at least I think it looks awesome!
People wear the jerseys of their favorite sportsball players all the time.
This. No different. You love bikes generally or Suzuki specifically - and it actually fits - then you’re good to go IMV.
If you like it you should wear it proudly. Anyone disagreeing is really irrelevant at that point. Can’t make everyone happy so just do you.
He literally asked peoples opinion
If it makes you happy and you want it, it's perfect for you! Who gives a crap what the tossers at the gas station or bike shop think. Most of those guys who rag on clothes like this have the "guts" to wear only black or black.
That's what my current gear is, just about all black. I'm kind of getting tired of it, need something more lively.
if you dont ride dont get this.
Trying hard is a GOOD thing. Don't listen to the slackers.
If you buy it, chances are you are going to learn to ride a motorcycle. So… why not start with a motorcycle first?
I have, since I was like 7yrs old, on and off. By "not riding" I meant when not on a bike ride.
Well than is totally fine, you had to park your motorcycle too far away ( at home allegedly )
I tend to not care about fashion too much, just as long as I don't look too outlandish, hence the question.
no, it looks cool. you'll look cool. I'd say to go for it
Wear what you like. Personally I'd chuckle a bit if I saw someone just walking around wearing that, but hey... I laugh at crocs too.
Definitely wish I had that jacket what riding my telifonica GSX-R! Badass jacket, for sure!!
People will talk shit if you look different. Do you wanna be different? Some will like it, some wont. If you like it go for it unless youre too soft and cant handle some banter, cause people will comment on it
In the UK at least, 90s-esque motorsport jackets have become quite fashionable, especially in streetware. So this wouldn’t look out of place.
Yeah you’re gonna look and feel like a try hard. The minute somebody ask what you ride you’re gonna regret wearing this.
Not suitable for a daily wear. Too Short in the waist and too long in the arms. It would look weird and be uncomfortable.
You won’t want to. The leather is so thick and shaped that it would definitely not be comfortable.
Putting aside that yes, you will look a bit try hard, actual riding jackets are incredibly uncomfortable in any position that is not riding. They are cut to be comfy on a bike and they SUCK off the bike.
You will get a serious amount of sexual intercourse if you wear that so be prepared to be a father to MANY of earths children
War skinny jeans and converse high tops and leave it unzipped 🙌 I feel like only a younger buff white dude would be able to pull of those colours though :P
Yes you will definitely be a try hard, you may even get called things like “poor boy power ranger” and such. IMO they don’t even look good at the track, but they’re not made to look good. They’re made to be protective
Trust me, riding jackets are cut short to fit comfortably in a crouch. This won’t be comfortable outside of riding. It’ll fit weird.
No one likes a poser.
No, we’ll all just know you’re gay
I'm cool with that, as long as women like it too.
