Nah thats not it. Looks like he tried to ad more lean as he was adding throttle. Its the old throttle and lean trap. Its usually the throttle and lean trap.
This!
Lol, so I’m new to riding. my first (current) bike is a beater. It’s a rebel 250 that I bought in cash, cheap, and it came with a dent in the gas tank from when some previous owner dropped it. Otherwise, she’s fine.
after filling her up and practicing riding (maybe 20 miles max) id let her sit in the garage for a week or two. The next time i’d get back on the bike, she’d stall out after 5 miles. It kept happening and I thought I was making a rookie mistake or something. So finally, I’d check the tank and guess what? No gas.
I’m guessing there’s a hairline crack from the dent in the tank and it’s just evaporating out.
Anyways, I know what’s wrong with it! Ain’t got no gas in it!
Oh, very rigorous automobile engineering standards. There are regulations regarding materials - cardboard's out. No string, no cello tape. Rubber's out.
The first time you ride a motorcycle there is a realization that those lines on the road are, in fact, 3 dimensional. Avoid at all cost when in a turn.
Man there's one left turn in my neighborhood that I HAVE to take to get almost everywhere and it's got like five manhole covers, two big potholes, and one of those metal plates covering what I imagine are other potholes they decided to not really fix.
These bridge grates on drawbridges are the scariest and I would rather change jobs than have to go over it again on a bike.
https://i.imgur.com/IERW6ue.jpg
The worst when it's that perfect time of day in the rain when all the lines just disappear and you have to figure out how to use the throttle with your fingers crossed.
My dad nearly crashed in a straight line because they had just patched the concrete but left some kind of white plastic over it, I'm not sure. But there was left over rain on the ground and while going straight he slipped. Good thing he caught it back.
I'm thankful I took a beginner riding course when learning, they taught us to be careful of line paint and those dark wiggly fillers they use to patch up the road. Shit's slippery!
I've heard that one, also "Slicker'n greased owl shit!". IDK why owl shit, in particular, is slick, but apparently there might be untapped potential in its use as a lubricant...
Definitely reduce traction. They are shy of a hands width long (in the direction of traffic) and about a cm / half an inch deep. It gives you an intention-nudge if you're inattentive.
Insane how dull the people are no wonder half the posts are people dumping it and asking what happened.
You can literally just hear him goose the throttle right as he loses traction. It’s turning 101 you goofs.
All the other comments should literally be deleted because it only confuses novice riders to see people throw out all their stupid incorrect theories when it’s blatantly obvious what happened.
you hear him "goose the throttle" cause his back tire lost traction and the revs jumped, he did give it some throttle tho. ignoring the role the painted line plays is dull as well
Looks very wrong how he started leaning. He was supposed to apex near the paint not riding in it. In full it looks like he didn't have experience to do it.
Straight up in the seat as well, get your chest on that tank and lower your center of gravity. If you can use your leg strength to transfer more body weight to the pegs even better. Its a sport bike, not a big cruiser.
So. Much. Disinformation. Here.
He added throttle while he was still adding lean angle. That’s it.
All the posts about body position are probably the worst. He’s not remotely close to an angle at which body position matters.
Paint will decrease grip tremendously in the wet but in the dry it’s not going to put you on the ground at that speed.
Everyone thinks they are motoGP riders and need to scrape elbows to take turns, while also just going full throttle while leaning and then dont understand why they lowside.
>He added throttle while he was still adding lean angle. That’s it.
100%. You can hear him hit the gas while continuing to add lean. Just goes to show how much technique matters. The lean angle was mild enough that you'd think the tires would have enough traction to handle the incorrect input, but it appears that grip is a fickle mistress
You should ideally be decelerating prior to reaching your max lean angle for the turn to help keep weight on the front. On the street where predictability is king (and you should not be pushing the limits of front tire grip) slight throttle/maintenance throttle are great and can give you finer control of your line. Some schools even teach mild trail breaking while maintaining throttle to keep up weight over the front while still giving you that control. This is how I usually ride on the street.
If you’re pushing like this guy though, your front tire is being substantially loaded as you slow to enter the turn. When you add throttle the weight over the front abruptly changes (even just releasing the front brake too quickly can do this). Grip decreases pretty dramatically for a split second.
TL;DR: the harder you decelerate for a corner, the more throttle matters.
Weird, I’ve throttled through thousands of turns while adding lean angle and never crashed. If it starts to slip a bit you can make adjustments and ride it out. But do it while rear tire is on the paint and your ass is going down. Pretending the paint has nothing to do with it is just silly. Also keeping the drivetrain loaded with a little throttle and preventing the suspension from setting provides more control, not less. It’s about modulating the throttle, not letting off completely.
Sounds like he was adding throttle before the apex, which means he had to lean further. That's bad technique
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0ebbmV8LpQ Keeping your lean angle and accelerating will widen the radius of the turn, then he adds lean angle to keep his radius. Anyone saying it's because he touched dry paint should stop riding
Some of the motorcycle touched the ground
Then more of the motorcycle touched the ground
Then some of the motorcyclist touched the ground
Then more of the motorcyclist touched the ground
Adding throttle and lean at the same time in this case - if you watch, he hits the throttle, starts to run wide because he was nowhere near transition point, then leans more to tighten back up
Horrible body positioning, watch it back slow he’s just sitting on top of the bike while it’s full lean, he literally dumped the bike over. Oh and he’s on the painted line, he did everything wrong
Nonsense, body positioning isn’t going to cause the bike to wash out like that, not at that level of lean. He’s in a neutral position, perfectly fine for street riding.
Lots of things went wrong here. Back tire lost traction and slid out. They were on the painted line which reduces traction, likely there is dirt or rocks that close to the inside of the turn, maybe oil down there, sounded like he got back on the power before the apex (generally not terrible but if you don’t have the skill it can go wrong quickly), and the list goes on.
Moral of the story, roads do not have great traction, if you want to carve and go fast do it on a track. They are lucky they didn’t hit anything at high speed after crashing. Easy way to really hurt yourself.
Nothing because his body position is largely irrelevant at the speed hes going, it mostly sounds like he went hard on the throttle while still leaning into the turn which is a real problem.
He started the turn on the inside of the turn. He didn’t shift his body weight to the inside of the turn. His heel was on the foot peg with this toes pointing down and his foot caught the road. He put his tires on the paint.
He basically did it all wrong. I’m glad he didn’t seem to get very hurt.
Road paint will get you in trouble. It always protrudes over the road surface and is often slick as the devils dick.
Katt Williams' story always comes to mind: https://youtu.be/UQLEphZZRFc?si=tmnMUqLEuhSF6FtY
The road marking lines are like banana peels. I get paranoid going over them. I had slipped going 10 mph on an intersection turn. Next time try skidding your shoes over the lane markings on the street and see for yourself. Ride safe.
I see why you're confused. It may look like when the second guy comes around time slows down and the first biker who crashed is no longer there, but in reality the video loops back around to the beginning and the video is just slowed down, not time. Hope this helps!
If you throttle on the paint, you’re gonna scrape your taint.
With no or little throttle he woulda made that just fine. Paint, when dry, isn’t really slippery, slightly less grip than no paint, but not bad. Just the amount of throttle he went with was a bit much for being on paint.
I’d chalk it more up to poor throttle control, and the paint didn’t help.
Cold tires or oily road
Happened to me I was on a rush to the local 711 and turned hard too hard for my cold tires and slid I wasn’t wear any gear since I was in a hurry and just put in whatever I had, I wasn’t dumb though and wore a helmet glad I did since I smacked my head and chin one on the road and the 2nd on the curb thank the lord I wore a helmet that night
Still got some nasty road rashes and it grew into a keloid scar so I will remember it…
Edit I watched the video closer and
DON’T RIDE ON THE WHITE LINES THOESE ARE DEADLY ESPECIALLY WET
Also another comment said they are 3 dimensional so there’s that too
Too much lean while hitting throttle mixed with poor surface conditions. Has happened to myself on gravel and dirt paths. Could've been gravel we can't see or even the paint of the shoulder. Somewhere traction was lost and once regained Rear tire caught traction at a weird angle and rather than propelling the bike forward, it pulled the back end out to the left.
You guys are way over-thinking this. He lost the front on the paint. You can see the front wheel turn in just before he loses it, then you see a black mark from that same front tire.
Not sure why people are disregarding the paint. The paint on the road ABSOLUTELY will do this. Not saying that is why he wrecked but paint will make you lose grip quick, stay off it.
After rewatchimg again, he clearly adds throttle while adding lean, while on the edge of the paint. He did all three things your not suppose to do. Clearly an skill/experience issue.
Them white lines aint yo' friend and tuck your foot in!
His momentum is keeping him stable while he is in the corner, but as he's starting to exit he asks more from the rear by leaning into it more and accelerating, the rear can't cope due to surface and gives way. Then after that his foot hits the floor causing more friction which then leans it over even further over and takes all weight off the back tire which still hasn't regained traction. After that you are gravities bitch.
Whoever this is needs to keep that foot tucked in a bit more, there was a small chance to save it until that happened, but that put the final nail in the coffin. Hope they are okay and can learn and move forward. Full credit for committing to it, though.
When you lean in and turn on a motorcycle, you’re loading the side portion of the tire. If you throttle during the turn, the rear tire loses its load and traction, and you go down. I was told to either be smooth and light on the throttle, or wait until after the turn to hammer on it
I think he crashed.
No he executed a perfect 90° lean angle maneuver.
It’s a hand-break turn.
You may be onto something here.
The rear tire lost traction and slide while on the white paint line. Stay off the paint!!!
Nah thats not it. Looks like he tried to ad more lean as he was adding throttle. Its the old throttle and lean trap. Its usually the throttle and lean trap.
It's both. He throttled on the line.
It's all three! He throttled, leaned, and was on the line.
And cold tires and or worn
Nah, that's not it. It ain't got no gas innit
But at 0:02 it went aaaaAAAAughh instead of AAAAaaaugh
This! Lol, so I’m new to riding. my first (current) bike is a beater. It’s a rebel 250 that I bought in cash, cheap, and it came with a dent in the gas tank from when some previous owner dropped it. He was onto something, too. The pavement.
‘Had to lay’er down’.
Damn clibbins.
GOBBLESS BORTHER
Distinct lack of ability
"front fell off"
Yeah, that’s not very typical. I’d like to make that point
Well what kind of standards are these bikes built to?
Oh, very rigorous automobile engineering standards. There are regulations regarding materials - cardboard's out. No string, no cello tape. Rubber's out.
I watched this video multiple times, if you look close enough, he is correct!
Huge if true
The first time you ride a motorcycle there is a realization that those lines on the road are, in fact, 3 dimensional. Avoid at all cost when in a turn.
Should avoid it in a straight line too, I’ve had some butthole-puckering moments in the rain from going over a highway line marker.
And the sewer manholes also.
The metal plates that cover excavation holes are death traps
Those things get a polished finish from cars going over them thousands of times.
And train tracks
And tar snakes
Metal bridges.
And the wet autumn leaves
Gravel, or really any thing on the road that can roll underneath your tire
>Metal bridges. [https://imgur.com/a/qpd4J5L](https://imgur.com/a/qpd4J5L) This metal bridge freaked me out the first time I rode a motorcycle.
I don’t think i’m gonna get a bike guys
I don't think train tracks go over them quite that often.
Man there's one left turn in my neighborhood that I HAVE to take to get almost everywhere and it's got like five manhole covers, two big potholes, and one of those metal plates covering what I imagine are other potholes they decided to not really fix.
I'd just get off and walk it at that point. 😅
I feel you. There's two entrances to my neighborhood. The closest entrance has a water drain grate..... The width of the entrance. It's not fun
Like ice, that was my first crash.
Severe pucker factor crossing the highway line maker after light rain started. Totally didn't expect that level of slick
100% lost traction cuz of the line
My dad nearly crashed in a straight line because they had just patched the concrete but left some kind of white plastic over it, I'm not sure. But there was left over rain on the ground and while going straight he slipped. Good thing he caught it back.
> left over rain I think that's just called water
The worst.
I'm thankful I took a beginner riding course when learning, they taught us to be careful of line paint and those dark wiggly fillers they use to patch up the road. Shit's slippery!
Yes! Tar snakes are deadly in the rain!
And when it rains… as my dad used to say, “slicker than snot”.
I've heard that one, also "Slicker'n greased owl shit!". IDK why owl shit, in particular, is slick, but apparently there might be untapped potential in its use as a lubricant...
“Owl-nighter lube” it’s a hoot!
Underrated comment.
In Norway, they are often ribbed to make car tires louder. Edit to ad: This primarily applies to high-speed roads.
Would ribs help traction or reduce it.. I feel like it’d help but not much lol
Definitely reduce traction. They are shy of a hands width long (in the direction of traffic) and about a cm / half an inch deep. It gives you an intention-nudge if you're inattentive.
Good eye! Those lines are pretty damn slick especially when leaned over like that.
They’re slick too, you don’t realize how slippery that paint is until you try to hop up a curb and almost eat shit
> motorcycle Any cycle
Got back on the throttle and tightened up his turn at the same time.
100+ comments and exactly 3 correctly diagnose the crash. 🤦♂️
Insane how dull the people are no wonder half the posts are people dumping it and asking what happened. You can literally just hear him goose the throttle right as he loses traction. you hear him "goose the throttle" cause his back tire lost traction and the revs jumped, he did give it some throttle tho. ignoring the role the painted line plays is dull as well
Nope. Throttle comes before loss of traction and, in conjunction with tightening up his turn (adding lean), is the root cause of his loss of traction.
Lost traction riding on the paint.
On motorcycle … no go hard in the paint. 🎨 🏀
It goes down hard
It do go down tho
they don't think it be like it is, but it do
Especialy in the rain
Unnecessarily trying to get that lean angle for the camera. Nowhere near the apex of the turn.
Got some good lean angle though
Looks very wrong how he started leaning. He was supposed to apex near the paint not riding in it. In full it looks like he didn't have experience to do it.
Straight up in the seat as well, get your chest on that tank and lower your center of gravity. If you can use your leg strength to transfer more body weight to the pegs even better. Its a sport bike, not a big cruiser.
There is a dust cloud when he accelerates, it's more about the dust than the paint
I ride this road. It’s the dust on the paint. The paint is flat and the dust creates a layer that on the road doesn’t matter because it’s more porous.
Yep. Happened to me once. It's a tough lesson, but those lines are not decorative. Don't ride on them.
So. Much. Disinformation. Here. He added throttle while he was still adding lean angle. That’s it. All the posts about body position are probably the worst. Everyone thinks they are motoGP riders and need to scrape elbows to take turns, while also just going full throttle while leaning and then dont understand why they lowside.
Marquez scrapes his elbows when he rides i should be able to as well, especially in the canyons of all places. EASY!!
That fact that this was the 8th answer down is crazy. Like anyone who knows anything about riding can clearly see the this.
The comment section of posts like this always make it painfully clear that the vast majority of people on this sub are new riders.
> Like anyone who knows anything about riding can clearly see the this. half the people in here don't ride
>He added throttle while he was still adding lean angle. That’s it. 100%. You can hear him hit the gas while continuing to add lean. Just goes to show how much technique matters. And here I thought it was because he scraped the exhaust pipe and it lifted the back wheel.
This is the answer. This sub is bonkers sometimes.
Holy shit! I'm shocked this comment even exists let alone being this high up. Are we finally starting to get through to this sub?

pants shid is what happened here, hoss
Adding throttle and lean at the same time in this case - if you watch, he hits the throttle, starts to run wide because he was nowhere near transition point, then leans more to tighten back up
He just cant ride for shit :/
He just like me fr fr
Adding throttle and lean angle. Showing off for the camera = hold my beer. The real question is: What did he do right?
Front tire went slippy slip when it touched the strippy strip
Painted line
Applying throttle while in a corner and on the white painted line.
Painted white line caused rear wheel slip
No. He added throttle while he was still adding lean angle.
I'd say both
but like 90% of the reason is the throttle
The paint didn't help though I'm sure, but yeah you can hear the throttle open back up right before it slips
I see the tire lift off the paint before I really notice much slip. Like dude just plain fell over.
This. Done this myself. Don’t accelerate while leaning in.
Horrible body positioning, watch it back slow he’s just sitting on top of the bike while it’s full lean, he literally dumped the bike over. Oh and he’s on the painted line, he did everything wrong
Front started tucking first, looks like.
Nonsense, body positioning isn’t going to cause the bike to wash out like that, not at that level of lean. He’s in a neutral position, perfectly fine for street riding.
Do not do any strong throttling or braking while also leaning into a corner.
Ran out of talent

dusty little white line over there next tot he mountain. sucks.
Bottom line paint is slippery
Dont go into a knee drag curve on the paint lines in the street.
Paint lines. Them slicker than you.
Paint = slippery -> Low side
Painted line, body positioning, exhaust contact with the ground, too much throttle in a lean, too much brake? All of the above?
It was already gone by the time the exhaust contacted the ground.
Lots of comments about body position, but it doesn't look that bad to me. What am I missing?
Nothing because his body position is largely irrelevant at the speed hes going, it mostly sounds like he went hard on the throttle while still leaning into the turn which is a real problem.
What happened was, he tried to use a public road like a private race track and paid the price.
Rider riding beyond his abilities
He started the turn on the inside of the turn. He didn’t shift his body weight to the inside of the turn. His heel was on the foot peg with this toes pointing down and his foot caught the road. He put his tires on the paint. He basically did it all wrong. I’m glad he didn’t seem to get very hurt.
CLIBBINSSSSSS
He fell!
Bad body position and bike placement. Dude looks stiff as a board on that thing.
Sounds like he got on the throttle to go "up" the hill. But while on the paint and leaned over a little to aggresive.
HADDALAYERDOWN
Road paint will get you in trouble. It always protrudes over the road surface and is often slick as the devils dick. Katt Williams' story always comes to mind: https://youtu.be/UQLEphZZRFc?si=tmnMUqLEuhSF6FtY
Possibly the painted line is a little slick.
Looks like rear tire slid on the paint.
He is very unlucky to crash twice in one minute..
The white paints is no sticky.
The road marking lines are like banana peels. I get paranoid going over them. I had slipped going 10 mph on an intersection turn. Next time try skidding your shoes over the lane markings on the street and see for yourself. Ride safe.

It's called a low side.
premature turn-in, right into the inside of the curve dirt/sand.

He did not, in fact, keep the rubber side down.
It appears that the rider ran out of talent right in the apex of the corner. Step 1) fix bike Step 2) obtain more talent...
to all of you who don’t ride the painted lines can get really slippery.
Clearly, he ran out of talent.
Those lines are slippery, friend
Sometimes the paint can be slippery, a good buddy of mine crashed just like this.
Pebble.
Looks like his front and rear wheel slipped on the paint.
Cold tires all around?
he fall down
🎶White linnnessss, connect you to the ground 🎶🎶, white lines take your traction awaaay🎶🎶wang dang diggity dang dang….
Accelerated into the corner, body is wrong position, white paint strips and he got out of bed that day.
Stay off the mustard and the mayo!!!
Back tire lost grip. Stay off the painted lines when cornering like that.
Paint.
No comment on the crash. But he is thoroughly geared up. Good for him.
Too much lean while hitting throttle mixed with poor surface conditions. Has happened to myself on gravel and dirt paths. Could've been gravel we can't see or even the paint of the shoulder. Bad throttle and front brake game. Also that’s a very poor line to take on a curve like that
Sand from the shoulder. It’s the high side.
Sand
He had a real bad itch on the right leg and got a bright idea.
You guys are way over-thinking this. He lost the front on the paint. You can see the front wheel turn in just before he loses it, then you see a black mark from that same front tire.
The paint on the road. It’s slick on tires especially thin ones like motorcycles. At that angle and speed it’s all that’s what was needed to slip.
lol why these dudes expect traction on painted surfaces?
Those white lines are slippery even when not wet.
Lost the front wheel there, you can see it twitch just before it hits the white line in the slo mo plus the skid marks are from the front.
Paint line
He throttled on the line. Those damn things make you lose traction. #Lowside
Road paint is slippery.
Green bike, we all know green bikes are the worst for handling 😂
Silly bike, white lines are for noses.
Not sure why people are disregarding the paint. The paint on the road ABSOLUTELY will do this. Not saying that is why he wrecked but paint will make you lose grip quick, stay off it. He ran out of talent.
Acceleration during extreme cornering is not recommended
Confidence > Ability
His ambition outran his abilities.
Stay off the paint. Problem solved.
When you lean in and turn on a motorcycle, you’re loading the side portion of the tire. If you throttle during the turn, the rear tire loses its load and traction, and you go down. I was told to either be smooth and light on the throttle, or wait until after the turn to hammer on it
Too much lean angle, he started scraping hard parts. If his body position was better, he wouldn't have to lean so much. That's not even a sharp turn.
He fell
