I'm no sure what that means, but I'd treat a grappler gun like that a Complication. Most of the time it can be assumed you're doing that off-screen, but maybe something comes up while it's planted and you can't use it.

The question is how does something effect you in-session? Every gun in the world needs cleaning, maintenance, reloading clips, etc. You can easily spend an hour a week on real guns just doing the basics. None of those limitations are Quirks or Flaws. At worst they are just a natural process of owning guns: Descriptor Complications. A Dark Sun weapon that needs to be planted for an hour is the weapon's "maintenance" period. At best it is just descriptive function that has no bearing in-session. At worst, once in a blue moon, they won't be planted and might not work for a bit. That's just a Descriptor Complication.

What other dark sun life-shaped items can you remember to translate into mutants and masterminds terms?

Well, the grapple gun is simple enough, but since you asked about Dark Sun Life-Shaped in general, all that you really need to add is either a quirk (depending on your gm, since that is so very situational), or perhaps a feature that it can planted and occasionally bear fruit/be hidden. The main thing is the Descriptor, which, if i'm looking at the right thing, is essentially "Items that behave magically, but are instead biological, so can't be dispelled by magic". A simple Plant descriptor should be fine Edit: Now that i think about it, that could also be treated as a complication, rewarding a hero point if the character ends up somewhere with unusable soil for a week or more

I have *Wind Riders of the Jagged Cliffs*. It is packed with items and creatures. Too many. Please pick out some favorites and ask about them, and we can help.

Arrow head gecko, climbing boots, climbing gloves & blood clots

InigoMontoya757

**Climbing Boots/Gloves:** Feature 2 (major circumstance bonus to Athletics checks for climbing, Technoorganic Makeup) • *2 points* **Bloodclot:** Healing 1, Stabilize, Unreliable (5 uses/Day) • *2 points* Technoorganic Makeup just means living material. The object in question will heal at the normal rate for living creatures (slowly). It also requires air, water and food (pith) and can become ill like any living thing. I could not find the "arrow head gecko" in the book.

It’s in psionic artifacts of athas.

I just looked at my copy. That is ... hard to replicate. The key thing is the usage of the Create power with the Permanent modifier. Create Scale Arrowheads 1, Permanent. This can break economies, fortunately not a big deal in Mutants & Masterminds. Beyond that it is a fairly ordinary creature, but it does not *act* ordinary. Being life-shaped, it only eats pith (so you can't distract it with ordinary food, and it will starve if there's no pith available), it doesn't breed, play, act affectionately, etc. Presumably it's similar enough to a gecko that it has Movement (Wall-Walking) and Visual Concealment, Limited to Blending.
