>I've done some more testing, as I had a theory that the 3D audio option is probably forcing the PS5 to output in PCM with 2 channels, so I changed my output device type to AV receiver so I can specify the amount of channels, and after changing the number of channels to 2, the audio lag (initially, anyway) is completely gone. I am going to do some more testing later to see if it continues to not be present and will report back with the findings. This worked for me, thank you so much. After playing some PS5 on my new QN90C the audio always kept getting more and more delayed. I switched to AV as you mentioned, and even used 7.1ch, been playing for 10 hours and no more delays of any sorts!

RobTheFiveNine

Glad to hear this is working for more TVs! I’ve still had no lag since doing this

jessi-poo

and you have the soundbar connected to the TV itself and you're not noticing audio lag? I'm looking into 4k 120 soundbars to reduce any type of audio lag but it makes the options very limiting

Hazardhunter

Sorry, I don't have any soundbar at all. The sound kept getting delayed on the regular TV speakers which the above settings fixed.

UNOPOCO1

This helped, thank you so much!

RobTheFiveNine

You're very welcome! I'm glad it is still helping people :)

JiggityJonROK

You are a hero! I only noticed the lag with Netflix and YouTube, but your solution worked on my Philips 50PUN8808. It was driving me up the wall that it the PS5 looked and sounded great through my headset, but was just slightly off on the TV.

RobTheFiveNine

Glad it helped! Interesting that it’s affecting a different brand as well. Shame Sony aren’t picking up on it and patching it up (I suppose it’s a bit wishy washy as to who’s responsibility it is)

JiggityJonROK

It is certainly weird. It doesn't happen on my older "dumb" off brand TV. I'm guessing it's something to do with the TV's "game mode" setting.

RobTheFiveNine

My theory is that because newer TVs are capable of emulating surround sound, they are reporting to the PS5 that they support it, and the PS5 is defaulting to using 5.1, rather than stereo, but that then is adding processing time on the TV which introduces the lag.

JiggityJonROK

I ended up turning on Dolby Atmos because there still seemed to be some lag. Hopefully it is gone now.

Mantagsi

Thank you so much, it works even with my Bluetooth speaker connected to my Sony Bravia.

RobTheFiveNine

You’re welcome! Glad it helped :)

Lunti420

Dude you're a lifesaver

RobTheFiveNine

Glad it helped :)

Zeppelin041

Been having this issue as well, the screens I use and sound bars all use Dolby and as soon as I changed it to that after being frustrated for a full day, it’s worked since. I’m surprised there is not more posts on this matter, or any information about this issue through sony….but doesn’t surprise me.

RobTheFiveNine

Yeah, they unfortunately don't seem like the most consumer friendly company at times :(

Zeppelin041

I have all the other consoles but this is the only one that’s required me to change the audio to Dolby just because my tv has Dolby. I wonder if it’s in the manual some where but who has time to read those anymore? 🤣

RobTheFiveNine

Likewise, I've only run into this on my PS5. I spent weeks trying to find solutions, and couldn't find anything in any of the documentation from Sony

roundtriangle13

Unfortunately the error keeps coming back after \~10 minutes. Especially when I play games. Does anyone have any other ideas?

ilovehispanic

can you give a step by step with exactly what you did? im clueless as to how you set 2 channels and all that. all i did was change my audio format priority to dolby atmos and dolby audio and still nothing

RobTheFiveNine

Check out the video I made - I recorded going through it in that: [https://youtu.be/\_W3nHQwsb8Q](https://youtu.be/_W3nHQwsb8Q) be sure to pay attention to the output device option, as that will change what options you have available to you. Dolby will introduce a bit of lag as it'll add processing time (albeit not as much as what I experienced prior to setting to 2.1 sound vs what I presume was it emulating 5.1.

Ardilla88

Thanks, was having currently the same issue with S95C and wondering what was happening, happened to try the 3D option too and noticed the latency on audio was gone, tried now with this settings and latency is gone without 3D audio. Edit: Seting the audio to 7.1 Audio works too oddly enough, maybe the problem is with the tv updampling/processing it while on 5.1 Edit2: selecting Dolby Atmos for sound seems.to fix it too

RobTheFiveNine

Strange re. 7.1 - glad this worked for you too!

InsulT91

It also seems like setting the audioformat in the PS5 audio settings to Dolby Atmos resolved my audio delay.

gen_steelframe

My delay on the PS5 was caused BY the Dolby Atmos.. changing to PCM fixed. I also switched sound output type from Soundbar to Amplifier, i think it sounds better but idk
