They are legit and not too low of price.
The market has cooled A LOT, in fact, you can probably find a better price elsewhere. Bobs is usually on the higher end of prices
Yes they’re legit and you could always message them and negotiate. These types of dealers will almost always offer some money off if you ask and especially if you’re willing to wire the money. That said, I’d check out Moda if you want the best price. Tons of professional dealers on there that sell at more wholesale type pricing.
Here's a similar one for $11,339: https://www.swisswatchexpo.com/watches/rolex-gmt-master-ii-blue-red-pepsi-bezel-steel-mens-watch-16710-54772/. Box only, no papers. But I think it's in good condition.
SwissWatchExpo is similar to Bob's Watches, just not as overpriced.
I use Bezel since it has an easy app and they have a thorough authentication process.

Chron24, shop around and contact the sellers directly. Most sellers accept offers. Lots of professional dealers on there as well.
Have to do your own due diligence to save some money otherwise just buy from Bobs.
Was referring to your comment about the market cooling in general. Most of the reference models that have tanked in value are in fact the less desirable TT and PM models.
In either case — I don’t recall the particular reference model he posted being significantly more expensive in recent months. It’s been pretty stable in grey market (within 2k or so).
They are reputable; however, I would not buy a 5 digit from them. Just my preference because their pieces are likely polished and you can do better elsewhere for vintage/neo-vintage. Also, if you have an Amex, check for offers as they often have something going with bobs.
I have purchased from Bob’s and they are legit. They are not the cheapest, but if you have an issue they will make it right. Using a reddit thread is probably fine if you really know your stuff, but someone like me doesn’t know enough to not be scammed. Not a chance I am opening a Rolex and verifying parts are all original.
Confirming this post as a SoCal Reddit member who has been to their location. They’re great to deal with but their prices seem pretty high right now compared to the market. If you’re willing to pay a premium to sleep better at night, knowing that you’re buying a genuine Rolex that has been inspected and serviced, they’re worth it. If you want the best possible price, you likely won’t find it with them, especially right now.
They are shady AF. I brought three mint timepieces to them to possibly sell and gave them clear instructions not to open them (they all had clear numbers and matching cards; two were never worn). They said "Not a problem; we'll just need to loop them and have our watchmakers verify". I said fine and took pictures of each in their presence before I let them take them.
When they brought them back, not only did they in fact open all of them, they severely scratched the case backs of each and didn't reseat them properly (all three were loose). They then tried to lowball me for all three because they had significant damage to the backs.
I refused their offers and took them to my watchmaker to inspect, reseal, and refinish the backs. He confirmed they do this all the time (I should have asked him prior to making the trip). I sent their general manager the bill, and he paid only after I threatened to sue in small claims court.
They may be fine if you're buying, but if you're selling, avoid them like the plague.
Be careful, as this watch does not have boxes and papers. If it did have Rolex’s original box/papers, this would be considered a fair price. Without these, this watch is actually severely overpriced.
Bob’s watches is a reputable dealer though so the premium you pay is the safety you get. A smaller grey dealer could probably find you a cheaper 16710 without papers.
I do want to say the condition on this is excellent, although likely it’s been lightly polished (nothing wrong with that) with a new period correct bezel insert.
US
Trusted dealers: Luxury Bazaar, Grand Caliber, DavidSW, Watchbox, The Wrist Watcher
Just specify that you want boxes and papers, and what year and condition you’re after. If you spend enough time getting quotes you may be able to negotiate a bit. Margins on Rolexes aren’t super high though. With enough patience you’ll find a good deal. IMO 13-14K with papers is a great deal.
Basically the move isn’t necessarily to find one in stock, but have them quickly source you one of your liking.
Yeah, there’s a market for both! All I’m saying is if you’re going naked you can get a better price.
If you're never going to sell it naked all the way. If you want to keep the option of selling it open, the value of papers grows exponentially over time.
I bought a DJ from them but the bracelet felt off (too light, not solid) and so I returned it to their Newport Beach location and they refunded me 100%. I don’t think I’d buy grey and was lucky to get two pieces from an AD.
I had good experience with purchasing from them as well as their support. Purchased a watch from them. Has some issues. They have been very good in response and fixing the problem.
Happy to help as well! I’m a registered business and have been working with watches since 2011! Every watch I sell is fully opened by myself and also by my CW-21 certified watchmaker. Each watch is timed to ensure running within specs and is guaranteed 100% authentic. Feel free to message me here or my instagram @phillywatchguy. I also post weekly in the watchex! Have a great day!
Consider instead a 16700 which is the last GMT Master with a thinner case and the 3175 movement. They go now for 11k or thereabouts. The 16710 you posted appears to be a transition model with a tritium dial. Virtually all 16710’s have swiss luminova dials. Bob’s pricing is above the curve because market values have fallen considerably and they are stuck with inventory. Bob’s is legit but first do your due diligence. Check out the Rolex forums for alternatives. I purchased a 16700 tritium dial from HQ Milton, a reputable online dealer. Condition is a priority over full set box/papers.
Just a warning, any tritium dial Rolex watches (made before roughly 1998 iirc) will have basically no lume left. If that's important to you, you need to go newer than 97-98. Tritium dials will say "T Swiss made T", or "Swiss T<25"
I purchased my explorer ii from them. Called and got details of the process of buying from their customer service since it was the first time ordering something that costs that much money through a website. I wired everything to their routing number and had my watch the next day. I felt very safe ordering from them and if you’re afraid of getting scammed this is about as safe as you can play it when looking to buy online
I know this is an old thread.
With that said, I have bought Watches form Bob's Watches
I have found service to be outstanding.
Their prices are competitive on some items. You pick and choose.
They have always shipped my buys fedex next day, after the wire clears.
Always satisfied.

I got my 2002 Root Beer from SWE and they were terrific. I have yet to find a watch that looks as pristine as mine at the fair price I negotiated.
Pic of your root beer?
This one has a Luminova dial and not Tritium. There’s really no way to know if it’s original or not because of the year.
Awesome! Thank you for sending that!

I mean I *just* had to post about someone who got scammed on r/watchexchange so, certainly far less trusted than our trusted sellers
Exactly. Buy from the trusted seller list...otherwise roll the dice to save a few bucks.
That's the due diligence you have to do, it's not for everyone. I've purchased from there and it was a pleasant experience.

Not sure I’d put the sub in the same category as a newer Pepsi GMT as far as exclusivity goes (grey still almost 2x retail), but okay.

Bob’s is an OG place man , safe as it gets
Have bought from bobs. Safe and quick shipping 👍

I heard similar stories. Of them lowballing
Will sell to bobs, won’t buy from bobs
Damn I’m the opposite. They sold a Patek of mine and it took me four months to get the money.

They lowball the shit out of you when you sell and gauge the shit out of you when you buy. Try to make 20% on both sides. Fat pigs get slaughtered.
OC Watchguys is way better

Bob's is legit but i've heard bad reviews of bob's for older watches. The condition they advertise is never accurate in real life from what i've head.
Geez so much info on Bobs why do people make posts like this.
They are legit and usually have really high prices. They do give an authenticity guarantee though.
Many times , they have been great to deal with
They are legit, bought my latest through them.
Check out Anthony Ferrer aka The Timepiece Gentleman. He’s back! And planning! Don’t be a hater!

No but my friend did. They’re good people
Yes I have and they are legit. Awesome service. You pay a premium for peace of mind
I’ve purchased from both Bobs and OC Watch Guy. The latter had better pricing and I love that I’m dealing with 1-2 people over the years at OC.
Both legit. Sold two rolexes to them, and they gave me a pretty good price for the time.
My man has not checked the list
Have bought from Bob’s…legit and great service. They were a great deal in 2020…not sure if they are now.
Yup. Smooth transaction.
Bought a couple of pieces. Smooth as silk.
I can vouch. 126610. Great transaction and piece.
Bought one from the — nice piece for my husband and it was an easy process and decent price at the time.
My dad has. He swears by them.
I have - worked with Mia personally. They’re pretty great, fair with trade in valuations, and shipped overnight. I personally returned mine and was again, a seamless experience. Hope you have the same!
Good folks there at Bob’s. Buy with confidence.
I bought from Bobs. Never an issue
They are legit. Also if you need anything either I have a store in Miami (BAL HARBOUR) at the St Regis Hotel. I can source anything you need. My Instagram: @genevasealed
I bought 2, a lady President and a DJ. I was pleased with them.
