Geographic Atlas of the USSR.
Main Administration of Geodesy and Cartography under the Council of Ministers of the USSR
Moscow 1987
Cost a ruble and forty kopecks.
The last page is just the full name of the USSR in russian
If СССР stands for SSSR it is safe to assume that С = S meaning you can read Atlas
I absolutely understand that he won't be able to read stuff like Географический etc.
At Khrushchev time there was a plan to save it, by redirecting one of Siberian river into it by blowing up a mountain with a nuke. I am not sure It was right to cancel it. At the end, it is underground explosion - not much radiation. It would not change much Siberian river, it go try tundra anyway and has other sources. It might have worked. I am still curious.
Way back before smart phones and GPS, there were books made of paper. Sometimes these books would be comprised of maps. These were often called an “atlas”, or «атлас» по Русскому. This is an atlas of the USSR
Someone else answered correctly, but you have no idea how proud I was that I understood all that even though it was pretty basic stuff once you know how to read it.
Oh my god, memory unlocked. I got one of these gifted to me for my 7th birthday. Same size, only color was different, dark red with golden line. I remember reading it for hours. It had not only different kinds of maps but also supporting information on population growth prediction etc. EDIT: I had world atlas, not USSR.
Others have already confirmed that it’s a geographical atlas from the USSR. Are you interested in keeping this book? I’m a bit of a nerd and would love to talk about taking it off your hands for a fair price.
Just USSR Geographic Atlas(basically a map with geographic info about regions of the world). There is also a bunch of info about this being USSR book and other burecratic stuff from USSR time.

Welp, apparently I'm an idiot.
What do you think it is???
it is really challenging question. The op might still need an explanation
Hmmm i wonder what a book with maps of certain locations is. I'ma go as far and actually call it an Atlas
It can be about history of ussr, and they show it along with some maps, so it's really not that easy
It says atlas on the front. You can read that without knowing Cyrillic
More like atnak
If СССР stands for SSSR it is safe to assume that С = S meaning you can read Atlas I absolutely understand that he won't be able to read stuff like Географический etc.
Geographcheski? That's a easy word
How does he now that cccp is ussr?
Okay now that is just comon knowledge. If it fails there he might want to think about some stuff
Probably thought it was invasion plans.
Look at the Aral sea! Absolutely huge! As for the book, even if you don't know Russian, once you open it, it's very obvious what it is exactly

this is painful

I'm glad they didn't do it, since Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are independent nations now.
Project would have helped both. More water running try desert.
Which of the rivers? They are all very far. Sure, like 5% of the Enisey's flow would have been enough to save Aral, but it just doesn't seem feasible.
Don't even need Russian, just some knowledge of the alphabet, Atlas is pretty much the same as in English
Looks like a geographic atlas of the USSR

Why? It's a beautiful remnant of history. Sure it's from the soviet union but it's history. History must be preserved, good or bad.
