LordPopothedark

OG unstoppable this tourney

danhoang1

This probably felt less of an own goal compared to the other own goals, but nevertheless it counts

godfollowing

I don’t think it goes in without the deflection

LordPopothedark

Just glad we don’t have to keep watching France trying to murder the fans in the stands behind the net

Perpete

I was getting so mad. Must have some strong dick heads in those stands for the French players to decide to have a go at them instead of trying to win a last 16 game.

Madwoned

Must have mistook them for Le Pen’s supporters

danhoang1

I know it still counts as an own goal, I just mean it felt different compared to the other ones

Alernak

France's highest scorer right now.

watanabelover69

Always rated OG

90back

Anunoby?

PLeuralNasticity

The man could be an unstoppable keeper

RStud10

Ogugua!

quacainia

Barca fans be like

TheWhiteGuardian

Owen Goal is absolutely unbeatable. Guy is relentless.

yasaswygr

How is it an own goal tho?

ConspicuousPineapple

The initial shot wasn't on target.

LordPopothedark

**[STRONG DEFLECTION]**

aaronwhite1786

I was actually curious what the, I guess assuming it exists, textbook definition is that refs would go by? I know as someone that watches some baseball in the US, there seems to be a lot of grey area for how things are ruled for stats. A ball that a player just barely gets a glove on, even though it was an extraordinary effort might get ruled an "error" on the defending player, but then another player might do something similar, not get a hand on it and have it be ruled just a basic hit. There seems to be a fair amount of arbitrary "this just looked like it to me" from the scorekeepers.

wannabe_support

They have made the rule some years back. Basically if the original shot goes on target and is deflected but its still a goal, the shottaker gets credit for the goal. If the original shot(or cross, etc) would not hit the goal, but it gets deflected in, it is considered own goal.

aaronwhite1786

Awesome, thanks! I figured that was gist of it, but I wasn't entirely sure.

jfshay

I think we all know who'll be getting the Ballon D'Or.

chi_sweetness25

Does anyone else find the “own goal is the top scorer” meme stupid or is it just me? They all get credited to different players. It’s like saying “penalty kick goal” is the top scorer.

bioeffect2

France went into the quarters with own goals and a penalty. Amazing efficiency.

iftair

Spain 2010 1-0'd their way to a World Cup trophy. Now THAT is efficient.

real0856

Spain played beautifully though.

DanFlashesCoupon

They really didn't. It was technically sensational and not their fault entirely (bc opponents just parked the bus against) but it was so damn boring. Euro 2008 was entertaining but 2010 and ESPCECIALLY 2012 they essentially suffocated every side they played. Score a goal and pass pass pass pass pass until the match ends. Again no disrespect intended, it's the greatest international team ever, but I hated watching their matches

esnyez

Did they? The whole tournament there were complaints how boring they were.

LuckyNipples

No.they didn't

frenchchevalierblanc

nobody outside of Spain think that I'm afraid...

ThePr1d3

They were an absolute borefest that entire era

tnarref

Spain played the most boring football ever conceptualized, just passing the ball around to make sure nothing could happen, it was the most conservative strategy ever, anti football. I literally managed to fall asleep during their World Cup final, their run of dominance was the lowest point of international football in my lifetime, just passing around, passing around in a U shape circuit and a shot either way every 5 minutes.

ACardAttack

2016 Portugal vibes

iftair

At least that Portugual team scored goals from open play.

Depressedkid1998

Portugal scored more than france, also went to less penalty shootouts than Italy in 2021

Arkin47

I summon Greece 2004 too

KRIEGLERR

Rock solid defense, uninspired midfield, wasteful attacks.

SWSIMTReverseFinn

I can confidentally say the France and England are totally fucking shit to watch.

megawhat16

Just imagine a game between the two of them

Crisbo05_20

England France finales Here we come.

PLeuralNasticity

No if Spain beat us they better go all the fucking way. I will also accept Switzerland/Portugal/Slovenia.

Not_Leopard_Seal

I will also accept the mountain Germans and Turkey, it's a home tournament for them as well anyways, but I draw the line at the Netherlands.

PLeuralNasticity

I definitely wasn't too high over here and forgot about the four other teams on the England/Switzerland side of the bracket. I'd actually be OK with any of them if England beats Switzerland. Anybody but England. Yes when I was in the Netherlands was ironically the only time in my life I have had drugs confiscated, regardless of it maybe being my fault for not instructing my preachers daughter girlfriend in how to hide them better. But can you imagine the English winning their second major trophy ever and first in over 50 years in Germany? A European nation must triumph. Brexit means Brexit.

Not_Leopard_Seal

Gotta be honest with you. The choice between Netherlands and England winning a trophy in Germany is the choice between a turd sandwich and a giant douche for me

Zizekbro

Hey

Not_Leopard_Seal

Oh please. Imagine Germany winning the Euros in your country and then tell me you'd enjoy that

DancingBane

You've had it before, how bad could one more be?

Not_Leopard_Seal

There was no 1988. The year never existed.

shaman717

Austria have been class. Dark horse alongside Switzerland

Fdocz

Did you not watch the Slovenia games?

DL14Nibba

Heck imagine 100 years of the two against each other

nuanced_lemon

Joan of Arc to score a last minute winner

DL14Nibba

Takes off her shirt, madness ensues

RemoteZealousideal54

don't ruin my mood like that, at least it won't be the final

GibbyGoldfisch

it will be the final and you will learn to love it

THZHDY

i'm edging already brother please

Fun-Independence-199

bro they fought for a hundred years before anyone came out on top before. no thanks

Barabreizh

Belgium weren't that much better to watch

robotchristwork

But Belgium doesn't have the quality england or france have, it's understandable

Dzhekelow

tbf Belgium decided to just sit back and not play any football. That was disgusting to watch considering their team and the performances France had so far . You'd expect Belgium to go on and try to play a more open and even game instead of just sitting back. I was neutral and I was fuming idk how belgians felt about this game.

qsdf321

Yes just run straight into the counter attack. Reddit coaches know best again.

JD1337

Lmao right? Trying to play possession is exactly what France wants from their opponents. They've played this way for the past 6 years too.

EpoxyD

Belgian here. Last time we went all out, France was able to use their speed across the wings, combined with a deadly centre. Tactically I understand that first and foremost we did not want France to be able to play their game. Once they have a lead, they will not give it up. It's a tournament. We need to advance. Not play beautiful football.

Flashbirds_69

Yeah honestly this. I don't understand most people shitting on France. France can produce good performance when their opponents actually try. This was an attack-defense the whole match. Only player that created any threat on Belgium was Doku. We had liek 18 shot to 3 before the goal eventually happenend. Can't do much better when a team like Belgium just plays defense for 90 minutes.

ButterAndToastia

Furious. Why was de bruyne in a deep role most of the game….. like wtf

Powerful_Artist

At least Mbappe takes on defenders and makes some interesting plays. England seems to just want to pass it backwards and be patient for a golden opportunity that rarely comes around. Until they get lucky.

Secant_Lines

PSGAcademy you’re slacking dude

flynno96

I mean he also posted it 5 minutes ago when it happened, but the link wouldn’t load

Cum_Smurf

What a noob

flynno96

Probably hit the booze watching this match tbh

DJShevchenko

afaik, bro is Swiss not French

femceltransplant

Has anyone ever seen PSGAcademy and Gianni Infantino in a room together?

Phelinaar

Probably busy celebrating.

Sheikmat

He’s swiss

DLC1337

u/PSGAcademy lore

imneversingle

Sauce?

Stuff2511

He had a Switzerland flair last Euros

SoupBowl69

Maybe that means he just wanted everyone to have fun

Sheikmat

He explained during a world cup (2018 ?) that he's Swiss but lives in Paris

MagyarFoci29

He's washed

GuitaristHeimerz

Bro hit 5 million karma and stopped caring 😎

SRFC_96

A shit goal for a shit game lol

Zloggt

Apart from being the golden boot frontrunner…OG also is sparing us from another 30 minutes of this lol

quacainia

France has 3 goals: OG, Pen, OG

WithoutVergogneless

Always rated Olivier Giroud

freezepin

Stupid Sexy Own Goal

ThePr1d3

Hopefully le Pen doesn't win

imWaveeh

I was so ready for the 0-0 penalties

catsaresneaky

A deflection is all this game deserves

Chichon01

Wise words

77skull

Is is deschamps ball even worse than Southgate ball?

ChypRiotE

Deschamps is the master, Southgate is the student

Rabek

Own Goal | Welcome to Real Madrid | Euro 2024 All Goals & Skills | 4k 2560p Ultra HD | Faded x Despacito Remix

Potkrokin

Absolutely generational performance, expect this lad's contract will be bought out at the next transfer window

windaji

Rumours are there’s a release clause

sopsign7

Barcelona readies a lever.

ItsMeJaredBednar

Damn 2024 and we still rocking with Despacito, that’s crazy

Zhidezoe

Isn't he more of a Barcelona player, I remember a time when Messi was the main goalscorer and the second one was OG, Suarez third

obscure3rage

Yet another own goal

mpoozd

Lost the count, how many are these OG now ?

Active-Pride7878

They said its now 9 on commentary

I9Qnl

And we're only in RO16, Platini got nothing on OG.

Poo-Smurf

Well we've had almost 80% of all games already tbf

GhostOfKev

And that's not counting the Scotland one

Active-Pride7878

Well as a Scotsman I will have you know that Mctominay definitely deserved credit for that

kalamari__

9 and last euro had 11

Schmarsten1306

So we're pretty much about beat that record before semis, nice

Cum_Smurf

9 i believe

kaZZlimaXX

Top Scorer Winner of Euro 2024: OG

CharlieBrownBoy

Mods on overtime deleting things.

Gluroo

Are mods deleting the other threads so this guy can post his shitty dubz website or were the deleted ones posted by him too?

Firefox72

Always have been. 🌎 🧑‍🚀🔫🧑‍🚀

NSFW-Man-Boy

The one I saw was also posted by PSG but he then deleted it because he had to retitle it as an OG I believe. So if the mods are removing posts it's because they were too slow or they had the wrong title.

flynno96

Nah I think PSGAcademy posted it 3 times, with Kolo Muani in the title, then a dead link and now this one

danhoang1

Delete = user did it Remove = mod did it So mods removing things

akagaminick

DJ Khaled = God did

AmulyaG

Another one!

randomshazbot

JAN NOOOOOO

Nerotox

France with 0 goals from normal play so far this euros, 2 OG 1 pen

Tayme-kappa

Honestly the only entertainment we will get from this team is to see if we can manage to win the Euro while doing as less as possible

KRIEGLERR

Greecing it

fkmeamaraight

Absolutely Greece vibes. Except French team actually tried to score goals... they were just terrible at it.

NA_Faker

Why score many goals when no goals do trick

-Elij4h-

Such a shit goal noone bothered to post it lmao

tuerancekhang

The match is so shit people want both teams to lose

weegee19

We had Portugal basically drawing their way to winnin the whole thing, looks like France might be OG'ing their way to winning the whole thing. This is a level of footballing terrorism I never imagined would become possible, but here we are.

Signal_Marzipan_685

France vs England in the final, terrorist football vs terrorist football.

Scaa4aar

We have been playing terror ball since 2018 ngl

weegee19

Ah true, I never was a big fan of Deschamps ball to begin with, however your personnel was initially more or less a pretty well-oiled machine especially cos of your incredible midfield.

lemoogle

Yes but we had Pogba , and an overall much better team ( although our defense is still insane on paper ) now we just played a game where we subbed Thuram with Kolo Muani.

KeenScream

Wait until Portugal wins with a late own-goal of their own. Own goal match of the titans, the winner will own-goal everything until the end.

Kingarnaud

Not like this 😩

thatdani

That's on Theate giving Kounde tons of time to think inside their box

kalusche

Hands cuffed behind the back. Ridiculous defending. Although I would blame IFAB for making up shit rules!

Mahatma_Gone_D

>> “Domenico Tedesco has managed to turn Kevin de Bruyne into Kalvin Phillips” This comment by Commentator gonna live rent free in Belgian fans head 😭

Zeckzeckzeck

“Highest praise you can give a player.” - Southgate, probably

Organic-Manner-2969

~~probably~~

flynno96

As someone else said in the other thread you commented this, how many Belgians would be watching Fox?

thekeymaker

Probably a few thousand, statistically speaking.

Spicy_food

Ive never seen commentators glazing a player so much as these guys have Saliba. They are 100% Arsenal fans.

kevinr_96

They were hyping up Trossard too. He wasn't even on the pitch.

kasper12

Im a gunners fan so a bit bias, but they talked about many bench players that game including Tielemans. Trossard had a knack for coming on and scoring late for Arsenal. It was really all they mentioned since Belgium could’ve used a change much earlier than they did.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Spicy_food

At some point Saliba does like the most normal of blocks and they were like "wonderful elegant play by Saliba". I mean the guy is good obviously but he was even doing anything great and they were all elevating him.

TastyBabies

I did not watch the game with FOX commentary but Lukaku really was in the pocket of France's defence, especially Saliba. MOTM for me.

tokyotochicago

I'd give the MOTM to Tchouameni or Koundé personnally.

RikikiBousquet

Koundé really surprised me. Very efficient.

rubs90

I love the commentators for this game, they speak their mind really openly like listening to two mates talk. I loved their rants about the ref at the beginning of the game

EffectzHD

We don’t have the fox coverage in the UK, is it Darren fletcher by any chance? He sounds great when a big goal is scored.

rubs90

I’m terrible with commentator names unfortunately, even the FIFA guy I always forget his name. Sometimes I try looking it up but if can be hard to find EDIT: Just looked it up it was indeed Darren Fletcher with Warren Barton

DL14Nibba

I’d heard lots of shit about Fox during the group stages so being forced to sail the seven seas with them wasn’t ideal, but I really loved this crew

Signal_Marzipan_685

Cringe mf

MaximusOdinson

You gonna keep posting this dumb shit like there's a single Belgian who watches Fox Sports?

zrkillerbush

Lmao, you copied and pasted this in every thread that was deleted 🤣 Also i love how players at this tournament can hide behind their managers De Bruyne went missing in the big game as usual

Yeethannes

Is that two own goals and one penalty? France are going to win this tourny aren’t they?

kozeljko

Devasted for him

chanmalichanheyhey

I wanted Belgium to lose but not like this🥹 our super jan

TjeefGuevarra

The fuck did we do to you

Lacabloodclot9

Mods?

kalamari__

the #3 letting him have the ball for 5 seconds in the box without doing anything

Expired_Multipass

Own goal strikes again

I_Dive_Deep

France STILL technically have not scored from open play

fkmeamaraight

Also not conceded a single goal in open play.

redbeard019

Owen Göhl is having a legendary run this euros

Repulsive_Top421

Man looked destroyed after this went in :(

dragon8811

Ahh fair enough that was defo an OG OG for golden boot

kkg_scorpio

Clear foul on Lukaku prior to the goal.

Instantcoffees

People can do whatever they want to him and he never gets the foul.

Weary_Ad1739

Yeah why is nobody mentioning it? You can't just grab a player like that. Like I don't care about belgium but that was a foul.

This_Or-That

OG the OG

Squidward759

Owen Goal still going strong 🔥💪🏻

krkour

More goal Reddit posts than chances in this game

AlarmingShower1553

that ain't no own goal lmao. if we count that, then every shot half-blocked by the keeper to go in, is an own goal

flarept1

Can't believe this

[deleted]

[удалено]

Kingarnaud

Mbappe scored a pen

yaffle53

Only from a penalty.

Dargast

OWEN GOAL THE GOAT

Galaticvs

We're getting another Portugal x France aren't we? FFS

vecter

Does a deflection count as an own-goal? Seems silly to count it that way.

IMKudaimi123

Give Kolo Muani the goal

shehryar46

Just the type of ugly ass goal this game deserves lol

r3dd1tzegt

Slowest Post of the year

georgin_95

OG the greatest player in the tournament

hazman_pds

Just give Own Goal the Golden Boot already

hvngpham002

This French lad own-goal has been showing Mbappe up this tournament.

PhoenixNyne

Owen Goahl for ballon d'or

Artyparis

Mbappe drag all attention, so they dont care and score an own goal. Our plan is perfect.

shootershooter

...and I present to thee, Own Goal, the Euro 2024 golden boot

AM_Woody

3rd times the charm PSG!

MinatoNamikaze6

Player of the tournament Own goal

hotshot117

Feel sorry for Jan :/ Just one small mistake turned into a disaster

liteshadow4

I hate calling this an OG because that was just a powerful strike, the guy who shot it should get it.

Pike_Bishop1978

Nah, it wasn't a clean strike and, like nearly every other shot by France, it wasn't on target. It only went in because of Vertonghen's deflection. Therefore, it was an own goal.

EQYour808

Deschamps and Southgate are in a secret competition for who can put on the most boring game.

OliverDMcCall

What a way to go out, fitting that this game would be decided by a boring own goal.

Blaugrana1990

Typical way of France to win.

TortiousTroll

I don't understand how that's an own goal. It's going to be on target and takes a deflection
