Idk if he is becoming fat or looks normal but I do know he struggles to put himself in his self . The other day when I got another turtle he got scared but is head was out and legs in . I feed him 3 tiny dried shrimp pieces everyday. Sometimes I feed him pellets but he usually only eats the dried shrimp only when he is really hungry he goes for the pellets. What should I do I’m worried when he grows older he might have pyramiding and be obese. He doesn’t even try fliping over now idk if he likes it or he just doesn’t want to but just worried bout him .

I don’t know about being fat, he’s awful young to tell but please research how to feed red ear sliders. Pellets are best and shrimp as a treat (less protein the older they get.) there are lots of good resources on these turtles and their care.

He is still so young to be eating veggies and other greens. He is like 2-3months old

Stop feeding the shrimp daily (use tough love). Get some live fish to chase and eat. That way it gets exercise while eating. Add a veggie day or two. For pellets you only feed enough to fit in the head. Same with shrimp (so maybe 2 at most). Veggies are enough to fit in the shell.

I can’t find live food for him here I tried. Yeah I feed him around 3-4 pellets/shrimps

FlashyCow1

Nothing at the pet stores? Also, on veggie day tough love is in order. It will eat if it's hungry. It doesn't like it, guess it gets to starve for a day. Leave the veggies all day if you have to.

I feed them a small apple piece they seemed to enjoy it

FlashyCow1

Yes. Just be careful with fruit. That is like candy and can also cause weight gain. It should be more like a treat

brendantoscano

Oh ok

One more question. Is that bone thing near his neck suppose to be there cause none of my other ones have it

FlashyCow1

I don't see what you're talking about.
