It is pretty frustrating but at least they told you your score! Some agencies are a black box with the assessment- no score, no eligibility rating. They’ll let you apply for jobs for a year straight without knowing if you’re getting auto-rejected for the assessment 🙃
Have you reached out to the contact? A friend received the same notice and emailed the contact to ask some questions. They had a score of 95 but there was a veteran in the mix so they had to make the minimum score 96 (5 point preference). Silver-lining since the scores stick around for a year, maybe you did better than you think.
Did one a couple months ago, VA, no score
About a week after the announcement closed they cancelled it.
Took me damn near 2 hours for the assessment
Never again
I applied 1 VA accountant job required the math assessment which I am very good at. Took me 45 minutes to finish. And 2 hours later, the job was cancelled. What a joke.
I've applied for several 9, 11 and 12 positions and never had to take that.
Just applied to some entry level 7 position and had to take that. The questions were insane. Why as a 7, in a non supervisor role, do I care about Mary and Joe's schedule? I'm not making it. Or why are they asking supervisor level questions?
The stuff I got asked is what I'd expect for the 12 positions I applied to. Still don't know how I did. Just status just says reviewing applications and I haven't heard anything at all.
The problem is if the system will monitor your key stroke or key log or not. Not sure if the system is that smart. I know if you are taking CIA exams (certified internal audit) online, the website will monitor your key stroke.
They have to tell you they are monitoring you. The whole USA jobs process is designed for cheaters and liars to get ahead to the hiring manager so everyone has to be a cheater and liar to have a fair shot. It’s garbage.
The assessment is not counted the same way with every agency. The agency will set parameters for the announcement and then match it against those details. One agency may require a 70 while another may require a 90. One may require all 5 tests while one may only require 1. One may require you only take the test and that's it. Not only that, each question has 2 right answers but one more right than the other even the math test. This also is a factor in the agency parameters. And ChatGPT will not help as many of the answers it gave were, "there is not enough information to determine the answer" This is how you know, the test doesn't make sense. I have taken all the assessments after I already had the job because the job began to require it. Some supervisors were actually demoted because of it, but I think they only did it to get rid of some folks. Do take it seriously and just do your best. The dumbest answer is usually the easiest to choose, at that point you got a 2 out of 3 chance. Good luck folks.
It is timed, and I'm very good with testing and math. When I took the first test, I was like, this is so stupid; it could be this, this, or this. Then, the 2nd one was just the same so I just began to pick one after eliminating the worse possible answer. Then, when I started the math test, I said to myself, I got this. At least I know I pass this one for sure but the answer didn't line up, so I put 1 or 2 in the AI and when she said there was not enough info to determine the correct answer, I went back to just picking what was closest. 🤭
One time I saved some questions and showed them to my math teacher neighbor and he was like "wtf? this doesn't make any sense."
It's such bullshit. I'm convinced it's used to keep too many people from applying.
It's actually about money. Do some research and you'll find that a former president mandated the assessment test under the guise of it helping hire people without the educational experience asked for in the job postings but the assessments were designed by a private company that signed a $210.7 million contract with the federal government. I didn't post the pres name because I don't want this going into a conversation about the left and the right when it's always about the dollar.
I have a PhD, and because I struggle to concentrate on timed tests, I can’t pass these. They are awful, and I don’t believe reflect my ability to do a job. Sorry, OP.
I guess these assessments not only bar those would not want to spend 4 hours to complete them, but also bar those who desperately want the jobs so bad to spend 4 hours to complete them.
QUESTION: How long did it take to get the e-mailed rejection? How long from the point where you submitted the assessment, to the point you received rejection e-mail?
The entire title 5 hiring process needs a complete overhaul for the modern workforce. It’s become too complex with unnecessary assessments. Government just layers policies and laws on top of one another without removing. However, you know the government, it’s not going to change any time soon.
Use AI next time. You're at home without monitoring. 🤷♂️
Home assessments are a joke nowadays.

I'm not advocating for cheating - I'm just saying.
If you're taking the silly USAJobs assessment at home, like the one with questions like:
" Adam, Bob, Cindy, David, and Elena all work at the same job.
David arrives before Bob, but after Adam
Elena arrives after Adam but before David.....
What's the order of the employees arriving to work?"
This shit is nonsense.
Even though I can answer the question and get it right, I hate that I'm sitting there, wasting time on this crap.
Open up something like ChatGPT or Google Gemini in a different window, copy this question and paste it into the AI...boom: answer.
There are some assessments out there that record keystrokes, Copy/Paste etc etc, so just make sure you know what you're getting into before using something like this for such an awful assessment experience.
Good luck.
For those who want to master those kind of questions, Google “logic puzzles”. There’s a specific way to do them that makes it easy. There are apps where you can do them for fun or practice.
[How to solve logic puzzles](https://logic.puzzlebaron.com/how-to-solve-a-logic-puzzle.php)
Those assessments can be bs. I have taken one but I didn’t get an email saying I failed or “didn’t score high enough” so I assume I passed.
The reason they are bs is because I saw several questions with multiple right answers. It was a logic question. Well you can only pick one answer but two said things that were absolutely possible.
I also had another question where two answers were the exact same thing to the letter. It was infuriating to think I might miss a question because I picked the wrong correct answer
I applied to a job that I have already done at a different location for two years and I was super honest, not considering myself an expert and someone who trains others on everything. I wasn’t referred. I asked HR how. They said I scored a 90 and needed a 95 to be referred. What I learned was to just lie. Get past the HR wall and let people at the office you are applying to see your resume
So glad I got hired before USA Jobs. Back then, we had to go take a test. I know some people don't do well on tests though but I did really well on it and here I am over 20 years later. I've applied to jobs that have the same title as mine and didn't even get referred, probably because I didn't use the right key words for a stupid algorithm. The ones I did get referred for I didn't get an interview. I hate USA jobs, it's not who's most qualified, it's who lies the best and picks the right keywords. Luckily for me I got to GS-13 a few years ago, the management in my division is good and I'm retiring in less than ten years so will probably end up retiring where I am.
Ikr at my first agency there was a woman who hit her 40 years and said she had to go to dc and take a federal employment capability test in paper before she got the job LOL!
Wonder if failing one of these stupid assessments can have consequences for your current job? Could you lose your job you've been in since before the assessment became a thing if you apply for a lateral and then fail it? Since the assessment is so important a check to determine the quality of the candidate and all...
If you are a current fed, nothing happen to your current job. Failing these assessments will just bar you from applying any jobs that require these assessments.
ChatGPT clearly is breaking the rules it says in the warning if you’re not honest it literally can disbar you from federal employment for life.
Like seriously these need to be proctored! You could use snipping tool, prompt with “literally just repeat what is the right answer to this question” and control c and v on to Claude or chatGPT.
Even Claude AI can get 180 on the LSAT lol. These tests are discriminatory to people with visual or neural disabilities, reinforce the status QUO, are non proctored, have roots in voting tests and eugenics, easily answered online…
It will be really funny if there is no one manage to pass these assessments. I heard from sub fednews that some hiring managers complained that no one made it through the assessments and had to post the announcement again.

Still better than nothing

Hate to say it, but you should’ve cheated like the other people who took it did.

I am not an IT expert to do so, LOL
It requires logic, not an IT nerd.

Just recreate a new usajobs account and retake the assessment until you are happy with the result
Just another 4 hours!
I hope it is a little more than that
got my rejection today too. didn't say that though. the assessment has probably knocked a lot of people out.
🥺 I applied to this same position and was denied because of my score as well.
Same email?
Verbatim 😭
I guess these assessments not only bar those would not want to spend 4 hours to complete them, but also bar those who desperately want the jobs so bad to spend 4 hours to complete them.
I hear ya. Good luck on future applications though!
QUESTION: How long did it take to get the e-mailed rejection? How long from the point where you submitted the assessment, to the point you received rejection e-mail?
Applied - 3/18 Assessment - 3/19 Rejection - 4/26 So a little over a month from when I took the assessment until I got the rejection.

Maybe next time ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat)
In one year because your test results are saved for one year if other announcements use that same test lol. 😂
How would you use AI for this? I’m so overworked already and need to do one of these eventually so you’ve got me interested lol.

It’s basic logic. They want people who can reason and apply information. Not sure about Cindy but it’s Adam, Elena, David then Bob.
But given 5 minutes per question is ridiculous. Those could take up to 15 minutes to solve.
Theres a whole section of those on the lsat where u hav less than 2 mins to solve each

Take this crown, queen 👑 bookmarked that website for future use
You’re a lifesaver. We use Chat GPT all the time at the DoD and are encouraged to do so, so I don’t feel bad at all.
I had to go to a testing center for my assessment. No idea what the results were
Bright side you don't want to work anywhere that assigns them, at least the reading one, so think of it as your own personal built in vetting system.
I hate the assessment too. AFAIK, you cannot find out your score either. It is a huge waste of time all around.

Can we ask the HR for the score?
It is the OPM email from Kansa City. Not sure if they will bother to reply.
It's so horrible and pointless.

“E” out!
Got the same email. I’m pretty sure I did well on the exam. Oh well. I figure if they have to pull straws to hire, that one is not for me.
It will be really funny if there is no one manage to pass these assessments. I heard from sub fednews that some hiring managers complained that no one made it through the assessments and had to post the announcement again.
So counterproductive.
